Cammy General Discussion: To Bee or not to Bee

The character has been out for like a week. Coming up with a concrete conclusion in this match up is impossible right now at least for me anyways. I will say tho that I don’t fear his aegis reflector at all but maybe I will once people learn the character

I was playing a day 1 Urien that was probably bad tbh. Super Gold iirc but he was trying to stay back and zone. I agree that his normals could be a problem in the long run. Still too early. I also played an Ultra Platinum iirc Japanese Urien in a lobby. It was laggy but I didn’t change my mind about it not being a hard match for Cammy.

^ Tons of Alex Myers or ‘Meeyyeyeeyyyeyeeeyyeyers’ as I often joke to myself, lol. He beat NYChris G’s Guile with Cammy! I’m taking notes for sure. That said, his anti airs VS Chun sucked. I don’t think he did DP+HK VS air legs once the whole tournament. He also seems to go on tilt sometimes, and wastes meter on EX divekicks that have next to no chance of hitting. Thoughts?

EDIT think about how useful neutral jumps are. The risk if you neutral jump at long range is very low! If they stick out a long range normal or do ‘abuse the lag’ dashes when you’re doing it, you get big damage. Like we’re talking s mp, s hk, special, or f+hk etc, and that’s before using resources. Mix in neutral jumps instead of divekicks. I agree that an air grab would be nice but I think being able to divekick from neutral jumps would be better. I dabbled in Yun in SF4 and I neutral jumped to the point of causing opponents to go nuts. Which is the idea. Just look at that Alex match!

Is the blockstring s LK, c LK, etc. good? I assume so since Myers was using it VS Chris but I assume s LK, c LP is superior tech.

FYI after the VS ChrisG match skip ahead to 36:35 for VS Fillipinoman.

I sugggest trying out the differences on the st.lk string in training. Simply looking at the framedata willl give you some clues and if the buttons can be blocked low or standing. Then also take into account the opponent their tendencies.

I did and I concluded it was not worth the time of day since c LK has so much pushback. s LK, cLP, c LP allows a non interruptable c MP, c MK. Way better imo. Hey I don’t think anyone actually linked this until now. Skip to 16 minutes and 46 minutes if you only care to watch Cammy.

Best way to warm up with cammy

^ There’s a better drill. Set the dummy to just walk away, start in the corner. You can get in 17-18 LK dive kicks if you do it at the lowest height restriction (from corner to corner).

Or set the dummy to block all, and dive kick him into the corner using LK Dive Kick.

I’ll post a video if it later.

Here’s an unfinished video I need to rework. But it’s at 3:41

Deja Vu. A new character is out since a week,he’s a bad MU!

Reminds me of Ultra, lets see how this evolves.
Where is the popcorn smile?

Cammy’s v skill is especially good VS Urien. His fireball travels fast but he recovers slowly. The more you v skill the faster you get v trigger also. He’s similar to Guile in that he tends to use lots of ex reversals so if you can bait them and block you get a big punish. I find it’s hard to time a meaty s LK because of s LK’s small number of active frames so I use s MP, c MP etc as my meaty. But I feel like Kazunoko isn’t using s LK as a meaty. Maybe he lets them get up and possibly kill themselves with a DP type move, then he goes in with s LK, c LP etc.?

It was a treat watching xaiohaio and kazunoko yesterday.

U should work on the sLK meaty because of the options u get from it it’s arguably the best meaty she has

Seems like a small number of active frames. I always do it too early and whiff it.

I was doing QCF+LK post CA early SFV but I stopped because I often wasted my second V Trigger move that way. Like I’d hit confirm my block string, activate, s HP, QCF+HK, CA, then do QCF+LK and be like oops. This video doesn’t mention my current most common CA okizeme, dash, dash, c MP. I think that’s a meaty, no? I also learned from the linked video that it’s HCF+HP, not HCF+MP, to get a proper Hooligan meqty after CA. I personally like dash, HCF+MP after CA though. It makes Hooligan crossup!

Agreed, Brooklyn Beatdown was/is a treat, especially Xiao Hai. Xiao Hai always meaties with c MP. I saw in a video that if you meaty with c MP, the frames change, so u get s MP on normal hit which doesn’t normally work. But Xiao Hai does c MP x2, then if blocked, s HP. He single hit hit confirms the s HP into SA, too! c MP x2, s HP best meaty string?

Before I’ve only meatied with cr.mp especially against chun’s cr.lp. Then switched it up with st.lk for grab options. Now I vary depending on matchup, ex: I use st.mp x2 against Juri, if they are mashing st.lp or any other button, st.mp ch for confirm.

s MP CH? I don’t understand. You mean if c MP hits CH? If meaty c MP hits it’s the same frames as a CH c MP no?

Oops ya read your previous post wrong. Saw your post about cr.mp into st.hp confirm if cr.mp was blocked.

I’m not sure it that is worth your time and attention or maybe it’s too obvious thing to be even discussed, but I wanted to know your opinion on this one.

So I was labbing st.LK meaty timing today, and noticed that knocked down characters makes a sound (some kind of grunt or tiny scream) when doing normal or back recovery, whereas they don’t when doing no recovery. It seemed easier to time my meaties off that sound rather than animation, and I thought that this might help others too. In short - to hit meaty cr.MP you have to press the button almost right after you hear the sound, and for meaty st.LK you have to delay it a bit.

I see this used in walk up meaty after SA without forward dash setup, but I’m not sure if it’s easier to react to normal/back recovery just by that sound. I tried meatying off sound while having the dummy on random recovery, but got mixed results. I guess that’s because I’m not an experienced player, hence the reason I thought that it would be nice if someone with more experience could try that out and say if it’s shit or not.

Interesting, ill have to try that out next time in training!

Something else, who are the Cammy players to watch at this point?

*Not too familiar with Verloren to be honest
There seems to be a clear gap between players like Xiao Hai, Kazunoko, Poongko and the rest. Judging K-Brad is kinda wierd, he is very clean in his playstyle, good neutral, shows some great insight in matchups but he somehow can’t get over that hump. He either missed an anti air, dropped a combo, gets clipped by people pressing buttons on their wakeup or during a certain blockstring etc. Maybe he needs to throw in more dashes, bit more hooligans, bit more ex divekicks, early cannon spike etc, things he considers “risky/random/crazy”. Too clean is also too predictable.

Ya that’s what I think too. Think kbrad is way too predictable. Took the words out of my mouth.

That K-Brad can’t get results right now is just because he’s K-Brad.
Give him more time, the first year after Ultra came out, everyone and their grandmother bodied him.

Edit: @LockM Could you also post their CFN-Ids if known? It makes it easier to find them on CFN and watch their matches.
