Calling all Sky Pirates - Tron UMvC3 Team Building Thread

Hi guys, I’ve come inquiring about a couple of things. I played Tron for a while in vanilla but eventually the guys I played with would complain she was cheap and I stopped using her. I’ve been back and forth with her a few times since Ultimate dropped but never really settled with her (I think I may have posted at some point).
Anyways, I picked her up a while ago as I was bored of playing my Skrull/Doom/Strider team and she is actually fun to play compared to half the cast. Couldn’t decide who to pair her with until I saw one of Rikir’s matches and since I was learning Hsien-Ko on the side it kinda fell into place.

Problem is I won’t/can’t play Arthur but I can see how good that assist is for her. I’ve tried so many projectile/beam assists but I’ve been unable to settle on one.
Ones I’ve found most effective -
Unibeam
Mystic Ray
Plasma Beam
Shopping Cart (Frank is in the same boat as Arthur though)

Out of these recruiting Doom to the team makes the most sense. Thing I don’t like about Plasma Beam is that it knocks down. Don’t know why but I mess up a lot of combos with it.
Mystic Ray is often a combo breaker (Especially with Hsien-Ko crossing up a lot to keep him safe) and the Otg can be useful for both Tron and Hsien-Ko.
Unibeam beam though is soooo good. Locks down for quite a while and when used with f+M clears so much stuff off the screen.

So… My question is which should I choose? Should I even try and stick to a character with a horizontal projectile/beam assist that doesn’t completely suck on anchor? Or should I try something else?

So I’m dicking around with possible setups for FoF loops in the corner. I may have just found a pretty decent one. I gotta do some more testing.

It’s possible it’s been done already, but I still wanna get it down and record it even so. Stay tuned.

DOUBLE POST

The spacing on this is strict. Holy hell.

I’ve been trying out Tron/Frank/Sent a lot lately and while I love it, I am absolutely HORRIBLE at getting the initial combo to DHC into frank for levels often because my combo’s are either not building enough meter OR they do build enough meter but then can’t be OTG’d into boulder for lunch time. Any ideas guys?

I’m also having trouble getting people off of me when I’m near the corner, I try to push block, jump or anything to get out and feel like if I press any buttons I’m going to eat something for trying.

Zachara: I used to run Tron with Hsien-ko as well with Taskmaster on anchor. I played them since Vanilla, though I figured I’d need to switch it up a little later. Another character I could toss in for recommendation is Doctor Strange for that Bolts assist. Keeps them on the ground on hit and could help both Tron and Hsien-ko work their way in if needed. Unibeam sounds like it would be nice for Tron pressure too. Whichever character you do choose, I think it is important to have a good horizontal beam assist since Tron and Hsien-ko certainly aren’t the best with getting around crazy zoning.

Cal: Unless you can constantly get a beacon bomb with Tron by herself, I’m pretty sure you’d have to rely a little more on Sentinel Drones to extend her combos after an OTG. One way I can think of the help avoid the pressure in those situations is to make use of your Crossover Counters, either with Gustaff Fire or bring in Sentinel and Hard Drive before you reach the ground.

After reading some of the recent comments regarding Strange I thought I’d give Bolts a try. I saw the potential straight away but it didn’t feel quite right. I don’t know if that’s just a case of it being different to everything else (it lasts for so long!) and I need to adapt to it.
You are 100% right though; A beam assist is all but required. Seems like I should just play around and see where that gets me.
Thank you for the input

I did try using drones as I OTG but they come out really really slowly or end up pushing the opponent above the range of lunch time. Other assists with different characters like Arthur, Task, Strange work well for keeping them close to the ground.

I’m busy just now but when I get home I could try using Franks cart during OTG to extend it just long enough to combo into her standing heavy > bonne strike > lunch time to give enough time for assist oka to be ready for the DHC.

What I see people do with Sentinel assist is like say you do a basic air combo in the corner. Before going for the OTG, you call Sentinel assist then do the c.H to Bandit Boulder. After the first hit of Boulder, the opponent should be getting hit by the first drone, and by the time you release the boulder you can cancel to H Beacon Bomb to hold them in the air. If you have already used the ground bounce, you can do j.H j.S and use H Drill before they hit the ground and quickly cancel to Lunchtime.

Thanks for this! The timing is a little weird at times tho depending on where Tron is when she calls sentinel since she needs to wavedash to the opponent unless in the corner.

No problem. Most of the time you would use the extension should be in a corner since pretty much all of Tron’s BNBs will lead to the corner anyway.

I never used tron much, but thanks to the thread. It’ll helped me play tron more.

We could always use more, fellow sky pirate.

So in multiple variations of my teams without relying on Frank I’ve found Dormammuu and Shuma to be very solid characters for tron too. Mystic ray assist is soooo good for covering Tron’s bulky body and can destroy assists like hidden missiles since it covers almost the entire front screen while Black hole can be useful for lockdown.

They are also amazing for combos given the proper spacing and timing (Dark Hole and Mystic Ray respectively).

I play Tron/Thor/Ghost Rider but I’ve tried out Tron/Shuma/Dormammu and love it.

I really am starting to think the best overall tron team is

Tron/Dante/IronMan

Kinda stopped using Frank on Tron due to having some serious serious issues with zoning teams so now tron is hanging out with Shuma Gorath and Doom.

Again mystic ray for good coverage of her bulky body and Hidden missiles as a combo extendor and a way to slow down my opponents momentum/pin down.

But… you have to play Iron Man ;_;

DOOM HOWEVER.

Missiles alone can make any team somewhat decent, it helps that Doom is a relitivly strong character on his own too :V

Hello Everyone

I’m a new Tron Player

i’m trying to make a team with Jill/Tron/?

because i see potential in that shell .

But i dont know good anchors with good assists can help tron, for Jill she get benefit from projectile like unibeam or Bolts

what you guys suggest?

Tron loves beams/hori assists, especially ones that keep the opponent standing. Also lockdown assists. Also, Tron’s assists are kinda ass; she’s better on point.

You want someone who could work as anchor, so you can go with Tony, Arthur, Hawkeye, Ammy, Dante, Strange, or Doom.
