cool idea but then again a lot of the top players are from the same arcade. dec 13th is quals for all games correct? and what time do they start?
Ok let me make this more clear.
We will play for all 5 spots on SF4 on Dec 13th at Denjin Arcade. It will be a normal singles tourney, all the way up to top 8, and there the top 8 will play round robin for 5 spots going to the 5 highest scores, it will not be any other way.
And yes we will play for all 5 games. However, some games such as 3rd Strike, CvS2, have guaranteed spots for some players already.
Shogo will announce the time of the tourney.
Hahaha come on, dude.
Would you like to disagree with Ken I getting a spot? Would you like to MM him for $100 to get his spot? Cmon what?
guys this ain’t little league. not everybody is going to be able to play. having an open tournament which qualifies you to play in the round robin is so fucking fair it’s ridiculous. there is zero politics involved, it’s all 100% skill. this is street fighter, remember!!!
as for certain spots being spoken for, i also don’t see the problem. i’m not one of the guys with the spots in 3s and i’m not complaining. you guys really don’t think that yi, ken i and vic deserve spots on the 3s team? really?
sf4 is so wide open, it really is anybody’s game. everybody should be excited about that because the other games are NOT wide open.
I’m great with having a qualifier, it’s the best way to do things, but I want a qualifier for everything. And no Yi, you know I don’t play 3S any way but casually, I just think it sucks for the guys who still take it seriously.
I totally agree with u ryan this is 100% legit
If u wanna get at a person that has a “reserve” spot, challenge them, if not practice up and try to get to the top 8
Anyone want to team for ST4? Chun-li player here…
Qualifier for ST as well?
How about a guaranteed st spot for me? =)
For 3s, I’m sure the rest of the norcal 3s players want the best socal players in that 5 man team, even if it means reserving a spot. Yeah, norcal input has little weight in this matter, but that’s how we feel.

Refer to this. I think this can be a possibility.
Has there been any talk of qualifiers for the NorCal team for all the games?
Thanks.
Didn’t see this thread.
yea its like please dont go and skip me like that like i didnt do shit
and then you got ken i who’s supposedly like the best person on the west coast i beat him first to 10 for a hundred dollars…yet that means nothing
and then you got washed up motherfuckers like victoly and 5star in the goddamn 5 on 5
and didnt i–DIDNT I JUST BEAT DAT MOTHERFUCKER in the tournament
If 3s is 100% skill based, then why not have everyone play for their spot? If it’s 100% skill based, Yi, Ken, and Vic will end up on the team anyway, so why not cover all the bases? There’s no rational argument against having EVERYONE play for their spot; everything else is just hearsay and opinion. What if Pyro comes back? What if Kuroda and a slew of reputable Japanese 3s players fly down and decide to claim residency in SoCal before the round robin? Fucking “WHAT IF”! You can’t auto-assign 3 people to a 5 man team, and say there are no politics involved, regardless of how good they are.
Things have changed a lot since SBO. Case in point: Amir. He’s not as good as he was before, so he has to play for his spot. So, if someone of that caliber can fall as far as not being able to auto-qualify for the 5v5, who’s to say that, conversely, some unknown dude hasn’t rose that far in skill? Since SBO, there haven’t really been any defining tournaments that have accurately divided SoCal’s 3s player rank. Probably because we haven’t had any of those… you know… what were those 3s tournaments called, that were held at FFA, and players earned points depending on how they did throughout the span of the tournament series?
Don’t get me wrong, I like the 3 guys already chosen for the 3s 5v5, and I think they’re incredible players, but they should have to play for their spot like everyone else.
p.s. I don’t really care who is on the team (I’m not even attending the qualifiers), but if it’s really an issue, you can always throw a poll onto this thread or the qualifiers thread, asking how people feel about the assigned 3.
I’m 100% confident Ken, Vic, and Yi would get on the team if every spot was up for grabs, and I don’t think anyone in this thread could beat any of them 1 on 1 for those spots, but keeping every spot open is the fairest way to do it imo. I understand both sides, and like I said, I think both ways will give the same results, but keeping every spot open avoids any unnecessary controversy (see:Gasps post). I’ll be there supporting either way.
i understand both sides, and i agree with ryan
All 5 sf4 slots settled at Denjin? thats good and all but not all good players play at denjin. How about giving 1-2 slots to people at AI?
sf4 so cal team hopefully a a nice combination from edma, valle, combofiend, gootecks, ultraD, ken I bob, and ron
i agree more with the no spots reserved method for 3s but to be honest, i would be disapointed if ken i, yi, and vic dont end up representing us. i really dont mind though as i know so cali is gonna lay down the ownage
by the way, you FUCKING NEED to make this a SF2HD tourney! it will draw new blood, im fucking serious, im one of them. i’ll enter a remix tourney but im not going to touch an ST one. get with the now
lololololololololololol
ol
i say 1-2 spots for denjin
and the rest for AI
more ppl play at AI imo
but who am i
