@w00fles What’s the official stance for fight pub and legacy controllers without converters? With SFV, are you guys going to ban legacy controller use without a converter? Final Round is banning the use of legacy controllers as well and this might be a growing trend for tournaments.
ughhghgh people should just give up the baby’s first game boxes already.
i know, moot point. computers are expensive blah blah – but what a fucking pain it’s going to be for the poor TO’s and bracket dudes.
how many E-sports events like DOTA / SC2 / LOL / CS / anything have you ever seen an issue with someone not being able to use their controller? Sure, there are those MLG COD guys who play on consoles still, but they just use whatever controller is made for the system, because they aren’t $300 each.
and yes, 100% agree scott, fucking EVO should be using the mcrib money to buy these converters. set a god damn standard. I for one will be bringing one to every tournament… but I’m not everyone. Guaranteed there will be people standing around at tournaments saying “why can’t I use my stick” “who has a converter” and “oh shit i forgot to disconnect my wireless controller from the profile system that is fucking retarded”
yeah, you download the whole game for free and can play all modes (online, training, whatever) with the free rotating character. so you can try the game out and find out if you like it with no risk
you can buy individual characters for $5 each or buy them in season packages, $20 for 8 or 9 characters. so to own all characters in the game it’ll cost you $60 when season 3 comes out, basically equivalent to a normal game
also i would be shocked if they didn’t have some sort of bulk buy deal when S3 launches, so you could probably get it for cheaper
numerous times at almost every sc2/csgo tournament i’ve ever watched? lol
most of these events don’t keep up to date hardware and shit, they had huge problems with teams that were sponsored by razer due to them requiring the drivers that were strictly cloud based.
Well, then I digress!
guess the commentators just do a good job of distracting from what’s going on behind the scenes from what I’ve seen anyway.
over two days of tournament play it won’t make or break it. but it’s still a GIANT pain in the ass for the people running it
Yeah, that’s why there is a shit load of downtime in between matches for a lot of games lol. I’m sure it wouldn’t be as bad for a game like SF5 since you can’t really configure your personal settings and what not but there’s still quite a few issues they mask with advertisements and commentary desk conversation.
Ranbats = let it rock. When there is money on the line, that shit is banned. Last time we allowed DS4 , both Troy and I had out MKX matches interrupted.
also, evo breaking 2200 players for SFV in the first 4 days of registration is absolutely bonkers
i wonder how high the number will get? if you had asked me 3 months ago i would have thought SFV might break 3000 but that would be super pushing it. now it seems like 4000 isn’t out of reach.
What time did the ranbats start at dickens yesterday? Something came up so I couldn’t make it, but I’d like to know going forward.
We are going to try and start consistently at 4pm. Greg and I will be keeping track of the records just like last year when we were doing points for seeding/bragging.

This actually works…but the timing is strict. Vanilla MKX option selects in the hizzouse
I also have a question… Nadeshiko sometimes flops to the ground half way to the opponent… why does this happen? It happens like 25% of the time in online matches but I can’t seem to recreate it in training mode… is it karma for trying to cheese people out with the crossup setup?
Nadeshiko only attacks the spot the opposing player is when she appears on screen. So if you push the other player away from the side you call nadeshiko from she’ll attack the location that you pushed the opponent out of thereby hitting nothing and just flopping in the air. Also happens if the other player happens to jump or dash out of the way.
I might be crazy but from what I see she doesn’t go anywhere near where they were… I’ll have not moved, they’ll be on the other side of the screen, and she’ll flop behind me. I’ll pay more attention.
Hey Jamie, let’s go see babymetal in Seattle in July :^)
