nah i think there are several characters as good as bison
chun and sim might be the S tier but i think there will be several characters in bison tier, including vega, karin, ryu, nash, maybe necalli, maybe ken

not disagreeing in anyway but what makes you say karin is up there?
footsies are too good, even though you don’t get a ton of pressure after a throw and all her specials suck, you just have to break through the footsies wall
she has a good dash too
i think her whole game is dash throw (reset the situation), dash poke, or stand in your face and press + on block buttons. those buttons are really good though.
she can also confirm medium into medium (into more stuff) from a decent range, which is something very few people in the cast have
oh yeah i forgot cammy in my list above, i think she will also be up there for reasons very similar to karin
Man… zangief seems ooooooo shitty, but he just bodied fchump’s sim lol
God bless the first couple days of release!
the reason why fourwude ryu is legit scary is because you can’t take the throw against ryu, he gets to meaty you after forward throw
fourwude is also super good but against a lot of characters, you just take the throw and you’re out of there
apparently solar plexus from ryu is -2 on block, too? so he gives up pressure if he tries it
Yeah F+FP is -2 but it’s a quick rise setup on forward throw which is kinda neat?
Ricky is showing how god damn good chun is hahaha, and even then she’s still so much better
edit: I feel a lot better seeing ricky struggling against r mika lol
I definitely don’t instant air legs enough, thats a huge part of her game
lord gutes
btw sajam is the best, he’s gonna be one of the big commentators in the scene in the next few years, keep your eye on him
I actually think sajam is really good, he’s kind of like a refreshing and better version of ultradavid
Snake eyes gets away with some crazy shit, i think in a lot of matchups the only thing gief can do is legit jab punish most things until he has v-meter :\
edit: i would get blown up by him too, but theory I think gief is bad lol
Yo’ Fcuck makes sim look sooo cool. I love the change they gave him in 5!
dude can legit rush down like a motherfucker lol
sim is crazy because i think he breaks the rules of sf5 that they tried incredibly hard to fix in the beta
basically, massive plus frames on forward advancing moves (TK air yoga flame, dive kick -> jab pressure)
for a character that can also zone incredible well, it doesn’t make sense within the rest of the game architecture to me
he’s an interesting character but, imo, it’s almost like he was that “sf5 mistake” that slipped through, you know? they tried to normalize all this stuff and missed sim, i think
he also gets out of pressure reasonably well with teleport (i thought it wasn’t invincible frame 1 but it seems it is?), and he can do short slide into v-trigger and sort of turn defensive situations around
and very few characters also have safe on block specials that knock down on hit, sim also has this (grounded yoga flame)
so yeah i think sim just kinda doesn’t fit the sf5 mold they tried so hard to create
edit: to be clear he might be quite beatable in sf5, but he’s just a really puzzling collection of tools
Yeah he seems really nutty lol
Troy gonna body fools in 5 if capcom sticks to their no balance patches until after capcom cup rule!
edit: It’s day like 2.5, things will definitely change lol but yeah i entirely agree
i think the eventual answer to sim will be to never stand still after he fires an up yoga fire, just try your best to see which fireball he’s shooting. if it’s a close-range up fireball, don’t walk forward. if it’s one on top of your head, try to dash forward under it so you don’t have to take the mixup and you can anti-air teleport on reaction with jab
you’ll have to deal with a bunch of other stuff but this is one area people are still playing against old school sim in their minds, they see him throw a fireball and they stand there ready to block it, but i think sim really wants that in this game. people will have to learn to not let that happen.
edit: interesting, you can v-reversal the flame carpet activation and it doesn’t come out? i guess you just save a stock of v-meter for that so you don’t have to deal with it if you don’t want to
chris T definitely avoided those fireballs the way i mentioned, then made some pretty great decisions on pressure
my opinion on ken really changed when i found out that he had MK > HK target combo, where MK is -2 on block with good range and easily confirmable into HK and works on crouchers
it’s the pressure tool he needs to make sure that he doesn’t have to commit nearly as hard during pressure
and he also has really good crush counter buttons that are safe and are v-trigger OSable (it’s really easy), so with these tools i didn’t know about i think ken is reasonably hard to stop at footsies range, because dash throw is the one mixup i’m very willing to admit is hard to defend and ken has a 15 frame and very far dash. he doesn’t get throw pressure but he gets to at least move into this threatening footsies range, and EX tatsu is great corner push where ken’s throw is even better
here is the full sf5 frame data btw, bookmark this link:
who won the hexters tourney?
no tourney just casuals all night
Is anyone playing Rashid? Kinda want to mess around with him because I see videos that give me Fuerte vibes.
I would really like to stream hexters since there’s internet but it’s so far that I need to leave pretty early
I’m playing him.
He’s more of an N-groove CvS2 character as opposed to Fuerte. His blockstring pressure in corner is really good. Rashid definitely has much better buttons then Fuerte.
^ This times infinity
I was absolutely heart broken when I found out EX can be meatied…
