How on Earth do you get your opponent to bounce back when you rope throw them mid-screen with Mika? I see people in match vids doing it but I dunno how to do it without the corner

my impressions;
Vega is different but the principles remain the same. Good mobility / run away, good pressure with normals and a good jump arc, and big frame trap damage. The command throw is an extra i don’t think you can run away with barcelona. seems to be heavily magnetised, drawing you to the centre of the arena. But the V-trigger seems to have a lot of potential.
If you can switch claws fluidly and hit confirm off of the claw close fierce attack you are in business. seems like his footsies are OK. But seeing as I only got 3 matches in all against shitty opponents I can’t really compare yet.
Clawless Vega seems to rely on momentum. You generally want to find time to put the claw back on if you aren’t applying pressure. I Don’t think he has an anti-air without V trigger with no claw on.
IDK. My mind is racing with possibilities. If I training mode this shit a lot and rely on the visual cues of blocking / counter hitting / hitting like I was trying to train myself to do before I quit playing SF4 I will have some success, I think.
Only thing I really miss is Scarlet Terror. That move was so much fun to use. But having the air grab, a projectile, and a command grab, I’m sure will be nice tradeoffs.
In the mean time I am gonna hunt for some frame data.

Gief seems pretty fun this iteration.
FANG is the kind of character that will infuriate my brother. Therefore I look forward to mastering him

Laura actually seems pretty fun. Her V-skill is awesome. And holy fuck she’s a babe.

Pretty sure Laura is gonna be godlike. I’ve only been playing Nash so far, he’s pretty cool but Laura is definitely bae, Nash will be a secondary and i’ll eventually look into Rashid later on.
I learned you actually unlock costume colors via Survival mode if you weren’t sure how, it’s through that.
Easy = 3rd color
Medium = 4 5 6th colors
Hard = 7 8 9 10
Unfortunately you have to do that for every character :\ not sure if you can just do Hard and unlock all 7 though.
easy = win 10 one-round battles
medium = win 30
hard = win 50
that’s right, to unlock every character’s colors you will have to win 90 matches against a CPU. feel free to do this 16 times if you want.
i’m assuming you beat medium once to get all 3 colors? if you have to beat medium 3 times to unlock 3 colors then hoooo boy
easy for ryu took me about 6-7 minutes. i was going to do a medium run just to see what it was about, but then i got disconnected from the server, and you can’t play single player modes offline and get unlocks to save.
this game’s launch is a total joke
and don’t get me started on how terrible the UI is, in every way the ONE good thing they did was give people a virtual stick to check that their buttons light up in button config (great! more games should do this!)
but everything about the UI is terrible. changing your character in ranked takes a long time and you have to back out a bunch of screens to do it. if you want to join a lobby, you have to be at the main menu (if you get an invite mid-training mode session, you have to back all the way out). i saw no way to watch your replays from your fighter card profile, even though it says “battle log” and displays your replays. the only way i found you could do it was to press “save to favorites”, then back out of fight card, go to CFN, go to favorite replays, and see if it loads there. i kept getting disconnected from the server so i don’t know if it even works anyway.
they made it so ONLY PLAYER 1 CAN CONTROL THE POST-MATCH OPTIONS IN LOCAL VERSUS MODE. read that again. if you want to change characters in tournament, and you are player 2, you have to tell player 1 to pick character select. and player 1 has to constantly ask player 2 if he’s ready to rematch. every single time. if player 2 pauses the game, HE CANNOT PICK CHARACTER SELECT. the option is there, but it’s greyed out. he has to unpause, then player 1 has to pause and do it.

glad I packed my arcade stick up - worth it - even though they gave me strange looks in airport security. they were more so worried about the e-juice fluid than the metal electronic board with switches and wires. go security!
speaking of which, my netflix was “hacked” a few weeks back and the past couple days steam has been attempted to access. I have no idea why or how people are getting this information I’m pretty damn careful with passwords etc… the internet is becoming more and more scary these days it seems.
