I don’t think Flames will make playoffs. Giordano being out is a huge hit for us.
On the plus side though, being out of playoffs means there is a very very slim chance that we can get McDavid. They also picked up an additional 2 second round picks and 1 third round pick in this upcoming draft. That’s a lot of picks and hopefully the scouting team is doing their homework.

well boys right now we are in a playoff spot with 20 games to go. It can still happen. Let’s say we go 12-7-1, we’ll probably make the playoffs. Slim chances but not so bad. GFG. Don’t forget to spirit bomb for every game.
also sorry for post spam but re: goalies. Hiller and Ramo are hot and cold. some times they play lights out like ramo has recently - i mean he’s allowed like 3 goals in 3 games or something right? And hiller has had some super solid stretches; but they both let in some garbage goals every now and again that can deflate the team. Especially hiller. That game against Anaheim he looked really fucking bad.
I mean, Foger is right in saying we have 2 nhl calibur goalies. They are both pretty solid. But it’s true what Peter is saying that they are not elite level goalies like Ortio could turn out to be.
I think if Ortio hadn’t gotten injured we probably would have seen Hiller get traded but, oh well. I don’t think Calgary has a goalie problem at all. More like our terrible bottom pairing on defense and some size up front; we’re a little small. Lots of role players and we have incredible depth scoring but without Gio moving the puck I think scoring is going to dry up.
Saul good though, next year Sean Monahan will be 1 year older. That guy will eventually be our team leader. New core of Gio, Moneyhands, Johhny Hockey, Brodie, and LANCE MOTHERFUCKING BOUMA who may just be our best player, I’m pretty stoked. Some other prospects comin’ up, life is good. Hopefully we can keep Russell and Backlund around for a while too.
Giordano getting injured also probably means he’s out of the running for the Norris trophy. :’(
while I agree that I’d rather have ortio than both hiller and ramo, even jonathan quick and lundqvist’s lovechild wouldn’t squeeze us into the playoffs with gio out. you don’t just go from being a bubble team because of your Norris candidate star player to still in the race without him. if you mean going forward then we are dumping one of those two guys by next year anways so I don’t think it really matters. he’s the guy I want between the pipes in the future

Also while playoffs would be amazing, remember that this was a team destined to be in the running for mcdavid before the season started. I’m sure if u woulda said they would be in the hunt for a playoff spot in March that would have completely exceeded any expectations I had
I don’t want them to try and bolster up for the playoffs. 2015 is not the flames year. Our highest draft pick in history and potential future best player ever hasn’t even played a regular season game yet. Patience 
main reason i would love to go to playoffs is because it would be a great opportunity for our young guys to gain some experience and to become better leaders.
our young core is our future and for them to have a playoff series under their belt even if they get murdered by Vancouver (because the wild card spot is slipping away from us) would be invaluable when they inevitably make the playoffs in the next few years.
My biggest fear is a sophomore slump like what Colorado is going through. but then again we have i think, a better blueline then they do, their problems are pretty obvious

edit: and yea now that i mention it, this is the rare year in which the wild card teams are better than the 3rd team in the other division. Pacific division weakest division in the league. Calgary has the division spot with less points than both minny and the peg.
