Yes it is…? I don’t see what that quality has to do with anything. It’s premium content you pay for. Same thing different medium.
And? That doesn’t change anything. The comic that came with MVC3 has just as much collector’s value as the comic that got packaged with Injustice. The only difference is that Marvel didn’t make it into an ongoing series… for whatever reason.
Absolutely. I already pointed this out. People don’t have any standards when it comes to this sort of thing. They’ll buy any sort of collector’s content no matter how schlocky it is. Injustice (the game) had one of the dumbest stories ever written in human history, which doesn’t matter, because it had legacy characters doing stuff, and people like that sort of thing regardless of what it actually is.
The logic certainly does fly, actually, because sales are not, nor have they ever been, an indicator of quality.
There you go, that proves exactly what I said. People don’t care whether a game’s story is fanfic-tier crap or a Shakesperean epic as long as it gives them content to mess around with.
You have to understand though that when it comes to FF and SF the themes they approach in their stories are also present in their gameplay, so it’s more than just a story thing, it also makes them a stylistic and gameplay mismatch for each other.
And you’re just gonna conviently ignore the part where the comics get high reviews, or answer why other game franchises don’t do the same since it’s so easy to be successful at it? Other companies just don’t want to print money? Sites had Injustice up for Comic of the Year. And I don’t think the comic was even packed with the game since it started 4 months before Injustice was released.
Or why so many other comics staring Superman and Batman don’t last as long as Injsutice. So many comics starring legacy characters doing stuff get cancelled after 6 issues.
What high reviews? I only heard you mention them. And where did I say that it was easy to be successful at it? I don’t recall ever saying anything like that, I think you constructed a man out of straw and he ran away.
You have to SPEND that money first in order to produce something. That’s usually a bit of a problem, you know, having to spend money, but that’s kind of how it works in the industry…? Especially if you’re going to make a multimedia franchise with legacy characters.
There’s a 5/5, and 10/10 in there. Reviews from different years of the comic’s life too. Or you could just use Google.
And you’re saying no other triple A company has enough money to merchandise their lore like NRS does? Do you just like listening to the keys on your keyboard while you write?
Okay, I noticed that strawman edit: “People who want this sort of stuff don’t have any standards about what it actually is.”, which is basically saying people will buy anything, right? I don’t see how that doesn’t equate to it’s easy to sell stuff to people. Doesn’t seem like strawman to me.
Uh huh. I’m sorry, what relevance does this have again? What makes their opinion worth more than… ANYONE else’s?
Don’t know where I said that either. I said that spending money and beginning production on sometihng is a huge hurdle that they sometimes don’t want to bother with. Capcom already has a long-running SF comic series with Udon.
Yeah, people with a vested interest in something will always buy official things related to it, regardless of what it is. The fans are always a viable market. What part of this is difficult to understand?
i like that videos like that are being made (for fighting games in general)
it’s explained well, a script has been written so there’s no stumbling around, and the editing is clear and helpful, and it feels like every second of the video is part of the concept (ie, there’s no down time)
imo the ledge mechanics are still not all that interesting compared to melee/PM though :\ the risk for going off stage and forcing them to alter their trajectory of return is just not worth it, so you allow them to grab the edge and then maybe play a series of 50/50s with them that require a bunch of hard reads to work. it just means there isn’t a whole lot of tension around the ledge because you know you’re still several bad guesses away from dying. being anywhere near the edge in melee/PM is like super scary, but i guess they think it’s too punishing for new players because they want a safety blanket
so the rayman in smash 4 thing was fake, as we know by now, but the guy released a video explaining HOW he faked the whole thing, and it’s really fascinating to me
As far as MK goes, it has best story line out of any fg. These guys actually take time into making a coherent story, sg on the other hand is like “here’s a bunch of shit, go!” I would have to say that tekken is second best, but follows the same sort of flow as sf.
As far as gameplay tho… Mk sucks balls.
Rayman Legends was 8 dollars on a PSN flash sale this weekend (might still be today?). Holy Moses that game is incredible. It’s the best platformer I’ve played in a loong time. It’s basically what Shovel Knight wasn’t for me. And the game has an absolutely ridiculous amount of content.
This doesn’t even make any sense. You were the one who brought them up in the first place so the onus was on you to make a point about them, which you didn’t. Your argumentative skills are as terrible as your taste in games. Do something about your autism please.

He’s also offering to “Smashify” other characters for people who tweet requests at him using the #Smashify hashtag. I asked for Earthworm Jim.
