Funny, I enjoyed all MGS1, MGS2, MGS3, MGS4.
Outta of them, I thought MGS2 was the most fun and hilarious one.
The stories are typically bad, but theres so much charm and easter egg fun in the MGS series.
MGS5 will be great because it’s an odd numbered game.

2&4 - So so

MGS3 is easily one of the best stories in all of video games imo. My eyes still water up just thinking about you know what scene.
4’s story wasn’t typical at all though of the series. It literally made no sense and retconned so much. You can really tell Kojima didn’t want to make that one. It shits all over the story developed in the previous 3 (not even counting how long and non-sensical the cutscenes are, waaaaay more so than the other 3)
how is mgs4 not typical? pretty much every mgs game makes absolutely no sense and then in the last act they introduce a deus ex machina and thne have to explain the implications of it with a 20 minute voiceover of some still pictures of new york or the jungle or some shit
the hallmark of the series is shitting on the story established by the previous game, while spending most of your gaming time watching nonsensical cutscenes
No it isn’t. There’s virtually no contradictions in the first 3 games. Go back and replay them and see for yourself. And there’s zillions of articles handy to prove how 4 did. Or you can just watch this. Tonally it doesn’t match up either. There’s no crazy weddings in the others or a bunch of characters that exist for literally no reason.
Deus Ex Machina? Like what? Foxdie isn’t since it was built up through the entire game as being a device (deus ex machina are literally out of no where - God on a machine)… And 2 and 3 is??

MGS4’s ending was really something else. MGS2 was weird but got better as time went on and people started picking up on what Kojima did there, almost seems like it’s to the point these days where people would call it genius. 4 though …
been playing a bunch of Arkham Knight. Great game, fun open world, and the fights are so good. Story still mostly sucks. When did Batman become such a depressing, unsympathetic character? And I thought games were supposed to be getting better with how they treated their female characters too… this game is so sexist I’d swear it was made by the Japanese
i guess deus ex machina is the wrong word for it(unless you count the ninjas that appear throughout the series to bail the protagonists out). maybe missfortune’s “i actually CAN deflect bullets with my will?” is a kind of deus ex
but the story makes no fucking sense and as mike said is extremely overwrought. the s3 program is probably the most egregious example of it. and the patriots being a collection of 100 year old AIs. metal gear arsenal is a mobile…social media and news platform?
1 and 3 are pretty good but 2 and 4 are fucking complete trainwrecks, story wise
twin snakes also ramped up the mgs craziness to a new level(though thats probably one of my favorite mgs games). snake and the ninja riding rockets and jumping off of concrete slabs falling from the roof? jebus

It was definitely overwrought, but IMO that added to why the first three games are so memorable and so charming. There’s nothing else like that series because of it, since Kojima is basically a reverse-Otaku. They’re beautiful insanity… But that overwroughtness was taken to a huge extreme in 4 and didn’t add to the experience… Just took away from it :(.
But mech fights in Shadow Moses and old man fist fights in the middle of the ocean set to music from throughout the series are a couple parts where his old charm shined through.

I’m actually excited to try the sniping and gunning in black ops 3 when release.
I don’t think i’ll purchase the game until I try the game and it really wins me over.
To this day, I still enjoy playing a few games of black ops 2 before bed or so.
real talk though Arsenal Gear being a realtime massively powerful manipulation tool of all social media and online news is actually a very powerful weapon and considering he had that idea in 2001, way ahead of its time. Just the financial possibilities alone are scary then when you couple that with the PMC idea from MGS4, somebody using Arsenal Gear would accumulate so much wealth they could also possess the most powerful private armies in the world. Altho it would follow that Arsenal being so powerful would let them seize control of certain nuclear weapons too… but yeah. The Patriot Act got implemented after the game came out so that would mean Kojima and his writers anticipated something like it and then also the abuses that would follow that Snowden didn’t reveal until 2013. Way, way ahead of its time.
I might give 3 another chance I guess since it’s supposedly that good.
I genuinely enjoyed 1 because exploration felt more important and the story didnt feel like it got in the way as much. Plus it was cool playing as Snake again after so long.
The camo in 3 felt more like an annoying contrivance that detracted from the game rather than something innovative. Same deal with fixing broken bones, etc. I also don’t like being given a huge arsenal then finding out that you get best stuff by not using any of it and sticking with the tranq gun.
The version I played also had the bad camera angles which I heard they fixed in the rerelease.

I’m trying to understand the logic of people who donate large sums of money to people on twitch (who presumably have a very large bank account already).
If somebody has 8700 subs for example, and they make $2.50 off each sub they’ll make 260k alone off of that, before taxes obviously.
Now they have people handing them hundreds if not thousands of dollars on top of that every day that would most likely double that 260k.
The likelihood of these guys donating hundreds or thousands of dollars a week to the streamer, making more than the streamer itself is very slim at that margin lol, like… why do people do this? It’s mind boggling lol
Specially when the donation messages are like “Lol off to school, heres $200 bro have fun!”
Mostly I think a lot of these people are very lonely. I’ve streamed and you get the loneliest, saddest seeming people imaginable watching you (also a surprising amount of girls ;)).
The chat gives a lot of people a sense of community I think, and having their names read on stream makes them feel like a more important part of that community? I donated more so I’m better than you others in here… I dunno. I don’t really get it.
Max’s stream is one of the worst to watch. Guy is doing great things for fighting games, no doubt… But I dunno how people watch a guy just reading donations every 2 seconds. That’s not really my idea of entertainment.
Edit: I have a lot more respect for streamers like Cryaotic who refuse to take donations, because they do make a ton off subs. Otherwise you don’t seem much better than a pan handler… unless you’re donating a ton of it to charities or something.
