kara f+mk demon with eryu is really easy. you should really never miss it.

when u Kara demon u cancel startup of ur normal so it beats every option except an early neutral jump or reversal. Since u cancel the startup animation the move technically doesn’t come out. The reason why evil Ryu hop kick demon is so strong is that hop kick is airborn and crushes low during its start up so u can demon over crouching lows and cr.tech
Forbidding tech, which turns into fa if throw doesn’t happen would get caught by Kara demon in any form

Best way to do kara demon is hold forward, press MK + LP twice, then roll forward to up-forward (counts as a separate forward motion) and press LK + HP. You don’t even have to let go of forward to input another forward motion, it’s just two buttons twice, roll the stick, two buttons. It’s really, really easy to do.
Your only option is to jump or reversal, but I think Daigo is good at baiting reversals and wake-up jump is not a good idea. It’s probably better you just eat the demon than give ERyu an even MORE damaging combo for just two bars, though. If Daigo is getting more damage than you without spending any bar the whole match, then I guess you’re just screwed. It’s kind of like the Gen scenario in AE2012… you try to force him to spend meter so he doesn’t have super, but if he manages to save up super, you just have to try to eat it at an appropriate time (when it won’t kill you). At least if Gen spends 2 bars for a combo in 2012 and you’re good enough to block the mixup, he won’t do as much damage/stun as ERyu does.
In addition to the reasons Amin listed (goes over lows), because it’s airborne if the opponent hits you out of the startup of kara demon, you just get reset into the air for basically no damage. This happened to Daigo numerous times in the tournament (Mike M and I saw it happen a few times each)… I wonder how well the commentators talked about it though.
It was mostly just PR Rog that was jabbing him on the start up of the hop kick to prevent that situation, right? I don’t recall any other playing really doing that.
