Wonder which finals will be on Evo Sunday? MKX, Xrd and Smash U, Ultra and Marvel would be sure bets, I’d think. Melee has to be on the Saturday. There’s no way they can fit both Smashes on the Sunday (that would be like 8 hours of the greatest torture; I wouldn’t wish that on my most hated enemy), and Nintendo will make sure the new version gets the spot light.

Man his demons were on point, kind of crazy how virtually every one he did landed
The majority of his raging demons at master series were from walking forward into a karademon from hop kick. He wasn’t even buffering the jabs during a hit, blocked normal, or dash. I asked the evil ryu boards on how he does this and it’s some crazy fast input of F+MK+LP x2, F+LK+HP.

im surprised he wouldn’t use lp, lp+f+lk+hp, 2 button demon makes it stupid easy
when i went for dinner with Xian, he explained to me that the reason Daigo lands so many of those demons is because he plays a high/low mixup game with it. if you think the unblockable demon is coming then you can jump but Xian chose not to because then Daigo would hit him with a meaty cr.mk> damaging 2 meter combo.
Xian said he would rather just wakeup block and eat the Super Demon because it takes less damage than a 2 meter combo plus the Super Demon will deplete E.Ryu’s entire super bar.
Xian also said that you can’t wakeup backdash either because the Super Demon covers that option.
i think a lot of the pros have studied Daigo after Masters Series and theyre just going to start doing wakeup dp now.

The way I do Kara demon is f.mk + lp x2 and then forward lk+hp. Makes it a hell of a lot easier to hide the lp with the priority of MK. Daigo stole my demon swag!

It’s because you would see the Jab first making the kara demon more telegraphed. Him walking forward then kara demon out of nowhere is extremely hard to read.
Also, people who bitch about ERyu being over powered have no idea that you need to have a really strong fundamental game to win with that character. He has no brain dead strategies or abusable tactics to just flat out win against the cast. High damage combos for 2 bars off of footsie confirms is great but you need a good footsie game to land that shit against competent players. You also need a good zoning game to create those situations as well. I also think Daigo’s success with the character, besides his amazing play, is that a lot of players overly respect his options. In a long set he’s going to condition you to take certain actions but there’s a lot more variance in a shorter set. It’s really surprising at how he gets away with walk up throw on his opponent’s wake up when the typical NA response is wake up reversal at every opportunity.
that demon tech isn’t anything new, people were doing it on day 1, he just does it fast enough so you don’t derp out and actually put them in block stun with the hop kick
Kara demons isn’t anything new but most people only used it as a closer rather than at certain opportunities like Daigo did. Everyone was convinced it’s better to just go for the 2 bar combos. The way Xian explained it to Peter it seems like this tactic is a lot more beneficial in a longer set to play mind games with your opponent. The damage isn’t too bad either but there’s definitely some inherent risk to doing mid-round in a short set.
yep, that demon tech isn’t new at all, but the way daigo incorporates it is scary. he takes away all your options… except wakeup reversal which forces you to gamble.
you can’t wakeup block. you can’t wakeup backdash. you can’t wakeup jump. only thing you can do is wakeup reversal.
come to think of it, focus attack backdash and/or “forbidden technique” would beat Daigo’s kara demon tech right?
or would e.ryu’s hop kick not hit the focus attack?
