Calgary Thread 2014

i really should do that so i can at least test out some ideas i have for pokes before i commit to actually breeding/training the damn things. i got some ideas but should take them into the training room. add that to the list of stuff i want to do though if i had unlimited time.

Yeah… She’s as old me (26… Old as dust)

wrong thread to be saying that type of thing in, imo

if capcom re-does sagat’s stage in SF5, this is what they should use for inspiration

Yeah, but the rest of you have accomplished stuff… I have a sociology degree I can’t do anything with so I bartend instead.

I only really have two teams, one team shot me up the elo ladder to somewhere around 1500s and then this other team of misfits that I just like playing brought me down to around 1100 :s

Teach sociology to sociology majors.

i have an english degree and i bartend as a means of searching for life’s greatest story.

last week we had an oscar party of “20-30” people but only 3 nerds actually showed up. you end a book with that sort of cadence and people start suiciding

Look at you ritzy shitzies with your fancy “degrees” and “college educations”. I don’t got any of that, I’ve been teaching myself everything I know.

(im seriously gonna axe my own ribcage if i can’t make this game work out)

for Dark Souls fans, lol

dont take this the wrong way(i’m genuinely curious)

what compelled you guys to spend thousands of dollars and years of your early adult life studying something you seemingly know you can’t do anything with? i see college as a vehicle to a career, personally

i know if i didnt get a decent job right out of college i would be fucked, can’t imagine what student loans are like on multi year degrees and etc at university

Sorry Dave… no apartments left. :frowning:

Personal enrichment?

I don’t regret going to university, but Calgary is certainly a place with little regard for the liberal arts.

A 6 month technical diploma that you essentially can’t fail if you have 2 brain cells to rub together will get you further here than a university degree in something that’s not related to Oil and Gas.

At the end of the day, I’d still rather talk to the guy with a Sociology degree than Jim Bob who’s really good at tightening the same 3 bolts on a girder ad nauseam.

Took English cuz it was the only thing I was good at in HS. Liked writing especially after watching battle royale. Wanted to teach English in Japan as steady job and write books.

Realized I liked music a lot more very early on in school and that it was much easier to dedicate myself to that. Since uni, primary focus. I have ADD for sure so can’t fake it, can’t get into something I’m not interested in. Finished uni because I had already started… Took some useful courses but would do it differently a second time. Could go to music school but am deciding instead to take private instructor route, improve musically and gain life experience as a bartender which is something I for the most part enjoy though it’s not easy.

school’s for chicks and chicks are for fagz

Here’s some old guy wisdom for you young’ns to chew on:
You will ALWAYS look back on your Education and think of things you would have done differently. That’s called growing up. Hindsight is 20/20 and your past is the reason you’re sitting right where you are now.

Take this for example:
I dropped out of ACAD in my 3rd year. In retrospect all the reasons I dropped out were of my own design, but I was too pig headed to notice them at the time and some times I do think back and wish I finished my BFA. BUT, if I never dropped out of ACAD and took a shit job at Zellers to pay my student loans, I wouldn’t be posting on SRK right now. I would have to construct an elaborate flow chart of how Zellers actually changed my life, but that one action of taking a shit job was actually the best decision I ever made.

Best decision I ever made was takin big fuckin bong hits in my garage and going to work high as fuck then getting fired

Freed up my Wednesdays so I could start coming to tubby dog awwww yeahhhhh

there’s more to life than just working for the weekend

the other reason is that kids fresh out of high school are basically expected to plot out their entire life’s arc then and there, and plenty of pressures push them into higher education for better or worse

there are many many ways to live life.
theres no formula to do it, but we all make big decisions we must be content with.
but at the end of the day, we all must just live life healthy and happily.

I went into school because I was really good at it, and my intended career path required it. I did pretty okay at it, and now I’m using my education in my career. I dunno, I guess my story is the boring version.
