The real question is who will replace Stamkos when he’s unable to play. It’s clear they named him in case he pulls off a miracle, but they have a backup plan if he can’t.
I like Couture a lot, hopefully he replaces Stamkos. Thornton not being on the team is sad… I guess he doesn’t have the footspeed for the bigger ice but it takes balls to leave off the league leader in assists + big time veteran.
Couture is gonna have surgery on his wrist. Will be out 3-4 weeks. Dunno if he’ll be able to get back to 100% by Sochi if he’s called up.
I think they’d call up Neal. Stamkos is likely being paired with Crosby/Kunitz. If stamkos is injured, then Neal already has chemistry with Crosby/Kunitz. Neal was injured for the first 20 or so games of the season, but hasn’t missed a beat since he came back.
Still very upset St Louis is not on the team. The guy worked his ass off to bring Tampa Bay to the top of the division even without Stamkos. The guy truly deserves a spot.
