I rewatched the match vs myself and Amin and the commentary is pretty funny. Amin caught me off guard a lot by ducking under my jump ins with low forward and it was pretty clear that I was screwed once I got knocked down. I would say Amin is better than me but I’ll gladly hold the title for now lol.
I’m in town again Thursday-Monday for work. I’m not sure if you’re attending SCR but if you’re not do you want to get some KoF in while I’m in town? Sunday might be bad for me since I have to work that day so not sure if I’ll have time to make it to Dickens at a reasonable time.
Again, incredibly sorry, what Isaac (Fruitsations) said is 100% correct, we are completely in the wrong. I just wanted to say it personally as well, as I was also there to shake your hands.
Also, I wanted to thank everyone who came as I personally have never run any kind of traditional tournament before, nor have I ever run anything with over 100 attendees. That sure is one hell of a learning curve jumping from 5-6 events on the same systems to 12 on 3 different types. Honestly I was not ready to pull off this kind of an event, and seriously never expected it to be that huge. So again, thank you for both coming and putting up with me. Overall, I think the event went very well and I tried my best to make everyone happy. I know there were a lot of bumps that would need to be fixed for next time, starting first of all with making sure nobody has anything else going that weekend. Anyway, thank you again for coming.
Regarding smash players being weird, and all the other side comments. We had a deal with CCG that we would come, and also announce to the players about the after-party (Which I did announce, but have no idea how that went beyond that) and we dropped the ball. While smash wasn’t setup at Dicken’s they said we could bring setups and that was the plan, again it was definitely our fault. And, As someone who’s been a smasher for 8 years. Yeah our community is pretty messed up, but I’m going to attribute that to our average player age being significantly younger, I apologize for any inconvenience they caused for you, but I promise I showered between each day.
for what it’s worth, I would have definitely played Smash if it were brought to Dickens, it just sucks it’s such an ordeal to bring it anywhere due to it not working on the existing monitors
the new humble bundle is awesome, probably the best collection they’ve put together! Guacamelee, Dust, Antichamber, Monaco, The Swapper… all top-notch indie games, so go grab it if you haven’t played any of these yet.
Went to my first local in Halifax last night. One thing I have to say, those guys are damn organised. Casuals and the tournament started on the dot. They host it in a video game store with about 15 setups running. I didn’t get to play everyone, there was about 25 people or so, but the skill level is pretty varied. Overall I don’t think it’s as high as say Daniel or Jamie, but there’s a good mix and they still have that competitive vibe to get better. It doesn’t seem as social as the community in Calgary, which is what I fucking loved about you guys, but that might be because it’s hosted in a place without beer. Anyways, I came 7th with my 2 month old Oni, I’ll let you know when I’m the best in Halifax.
I wish I could have been there for Fight Pub, sounds like I missed a good one. Amin I’m disappointed in you.
Too salty to say anything. Ggs Phil you fraud lol
But for real ggs. I need to work on my mental toughness and learn the Vega match. All I know is unblockable in the corner I will be back Jamie!
You can hold it for now Phil. I’ll come for that title too.
Feeling hungrier than ever
