Apparently brackets get re-seeded by some TO’s after pools. Fchamp and Neo are only getting so defensive because they know they’re in the wrong… they swapped opponents with another 2 players.
Even Ultradavid’s twitter on the subject is classy. He’s my biggest man-crush.
Just camp a great soul boss and drop that sign. I think summons cap at ±10 though, so you’ll just want to sit on them banked souls. I wish I had gone soul bro early in the game because I’ve got way to many shitty tokens.
I honestly can say I don’t think he would even survive McDonalds, his self entitlement is so engorged he would demand more pay, less hours and his own custom schedule because “my dormammy dawggg”, “DO YOU KNOW WHO I AM? DAWG?” etc.
Fchamp: part time night shift Walmart stock boy (would probably get fired for trying to convince his co-workers to make-shift a setup for him to stream online marvel, racial slurs and uttering threats)
Fanatiq: Part time night shift 7-11 clerk (would probably get fired for telling a customer to “hold that shit n*gga”, denying them service while eating stolen taquitos and scratching lottery tickets)
Gootecks: Promoter of wannabe YouTube sensations (fired for being “too creepy”)
at least we can take solace in the fact that when he’s 35 and washed up and cant compete any more he doesnt have any communicable life skills and will be a janitor for the rest of his life
There’s a big difference between reseeding a bracket at top 64/32/16/8 (TOs say they don’t reseed as a policy but then end up doing anyway) and SWAPPING four willing participants.
Reseeding means you fucked up somewhere along the way and want a “new” tournament. Swapping two players means you’re fucking over everyone else in favor of 1-4 people.
This is why every TO needs to (1) Experience the fallout of “playing favorites” (2) Have a region entry in their pre-reg form (3) Be aware of who’s good or be willing to ask around (4) Lessons from Greg on how to properly seed a bracket
or just suck it up and deal with playing your friends
i dont know how many times i’ve had to play falken at tubby tournies over the years(every single one maybe?), or sang vs nav, or sam vs neen, or whatever else
I think this came to light because Full Schedule was talking about this in his stream prior to explaining what his extra buttons did. Mike posted the Full Schedule vid towards the top of this page.
The break down is that Neo and Fchamp didn’t pre-reg for FR and when they reached top 64 they had to play against each other right away. So they were talking to Shin Blanka (TO of FR) to get them re-seeded giving out excuses like not wanting to play against training partners, family, same region, and all the typical excuses these scumbags give. Shin Blanka told these guys that he’s not going to change the bracket around because of how far they were in the bracket and that this only happened because they didn’t pre-register for the tournament. Then Neo and FChamp went and found two other players who were okay with swapping places and found a bracket runner to OK the switch. They’re not the only ones at fault but this situation only came about because they abused their position as ‘top players’. I don’t see how they can try and play victim here because they are partially responsible for this situation.
So not only do they bitch about another person’s joystick modifications (that they have no clue about) but they also abused player privileges that shouldn’t exist in the first place. If you know you’re attending a tournament in advance (which I believe they did) there’s absolutely no excuses for not pre-registering. It saves your sponsors some money, head aches for the TO’s, and getting seeded away from other players. You had ONE job and you messed that up so you have to deal with the consequences.
What needs to happen now is that TO’s need to start realizing what’s at risk here if they want the scene to expand into something bigger and start enforcing the standardized rules. The other thing that needs to happen is that, specifically, the Northern American community needs to grow up. In the last 2-3 years we’ve had dumb FGC drama after several US tournaments/events and it always centres around the same group of individuals.
I love how so many TOs in the scene are trying to encourage the growth of their events, trying to encourage stream monsters to get off the couch and get down to a major because man it’s just so awesome being at a major, and yet… the average person who doesn’t make it out of pools gets treated like a third-world citizen at these events. Top players (some, not all) will come in and expect to be treated like gods at the expense of everyone, often TOs but most notably your average player who has to put up with their bullshit preferential treatment in the bracket/on stream/in MMs.
Here’s a tip TOs: if you want more people to come out to your event, treat all players with equal respect. Or don’t, and watch the scene slowly collapse as the people you thought you could take advantage of because they weren’t top players slowly make all your pots smaller.
