I also, always hated the triple triad game but this time i actually enjoy it… i’m like 7 hours into the game just from playing the stupid card game trying to get powerful cards to mod… fuuuu

sakuras worst matchups used to be akuma gief blanka, now good luck finding someone who plays those characters that think they have advantage against her. i think sakurws worst matchups now are Chun GUile and Vega cuz she cant really hang in footsies. Cammy explodes those guys!

also watching filipinoman’s rose makes me want to pick her up again, but she has so many unnecessary weaknesses. the comboability (i know its not a word shut up!) of her spirals is just kinda stupid. i have no problem with unplinkable one-framers but her combos are too sensitive in terms of spacing. you might as well just play Chun.
just get used to waiting for it and dping as many jump ins as possible when you play ppl in vs
focus on your ground game but always in the back of your mind be ready to DP.
if you don’t react in time just tell yourself you’ll get it next time

Tiers game is like 3rd Strike. All the top tiers had favorable matchups over all the bottom tiers. Your likelihood of beating a character depends on your tier almost exclusively.
Matchup game is like SF4. You can still rate characters based on tiers, but it is not a guarantee that top tier character beats bottom tier character. So instead of having everyone at the bottom have 3, 3, 3, 3.5, 3.5, 4, 4, … across, and the top have 6, 6, 7, 7, 7, 8, … you just have 6, 4, 6.5, 3.5, 5, 5, 4.5, … all mixed up. The placement of you in the tier list is an average of all these numbers but it doesn’t really speak at all towards how you’d fare against someone higher in the tiers.
It’s just some dumb semantics thing but it means that people should stop sleeping on characters because you might find out some low tier character actually does pretty decent against Akuma and you can use that in a tournament. In a tiers game, this type of thing pretty much never happens.

Just practice, I think. Try playing matches against people who like to jump a lot (or ask someone to play casuals and tell them to jump a lot on purpose). The real tricky thing is DPing the one time someone jumps per round, but if they do it 4-5 times per round, it’s not too bad.
If you throw a fireball, you should never block the resulting jump-in. Either you should DP it, or you should get hit because you couldn’t have blocked anyway. It’s such a gut reaction to block when someone jumps but you just have to trust that DP is 3 frames and invincible so there’s no reason why you should block. It’s not a Guile crouch fierce or something.
People will get smarter about concussions but man… athletes are just so insane these days. They’re built like tanks, the nutrition/weight room regimen is so scientifically perfect, and they’re faster than ever, but the helmet can’t really keep up with the type of collisions. They’re already (probably) going to take kickoffs out of the game soon (the proposed change is they’ll line up at line of scrimmage and punt; you can attempt onside kick by “going for it” 4th and 15) and I think it’s probably a good change. Kickoffs are like hey, let’s all line up, take a running start at each other, and then take huge hits!
But the real problem is the mentality of the game. Everybody is just a meat shield for the football, and they’re proud of it. They want to sacrifice their body to play football, because that’s the culture of a lot of the states (the south in particular). I don’t know if that will ever change.
be aware of your opponents jumping distance. if he’s a bit closer than mid-screen then thats an easy dp. if he’s a bit farther than mid-screen then he’s baiting. if he’s point blank then you’ll have to learn how to really delay your dp or learn the crosscut motion. its a lot to think about in the heat of battle but it all becomes second nature after awhile.
theres also different dp motions depending on the situation but thats a whole other discussion.
