Cody is much, much better. Maybe it’s just because I’ve been using him for a while, but to me he feels different from standard AE.
I find he can do zoning much better (although against opponents like Guile it’s still pretty rough for me, anyway). His ground game is really strong, and he can get out sticky situations in a flash. A TON of people have started using him online, it’s crazy how many I see. Always good to show them what’s up though haha.
Like josh stated when it first dropped, the game feels faster altogether. it’s almost as if they tuned up the speed a hair.
I really like to experiment with other characters as well, Akuma and Cammy in general.
Sakura is still Sakura. I can see her being upper mid-tier as she can pour on pressure like crazy. Having the EX tatsu buff is great. no more flying over blocking characters (in certain situations).
Ryu is reeeeeeally strong. I completely agree with Diago. He’s back. Sam rejoices and drops the twin, everyone loves it.
Rose is fucking nuts now. when she does damage it HURTS.
Hakkan needs a combo video from Greg.
Fuerte is the same minus his running chest bump.
Good thing we toasted to SFxT on NYE lol. Also my dick.
Gen is in overall better, but some other characters got better buffs when it comes to necessary stuffs.
Now he got more things to play around, but all of them comes with high risks.
Example: "Oh I’ll make him block my crane focus lvl1 which makes us even so I can bait out his SRK"
It gets hit and I’m put at -3 -> Shoryuken! -> Metsu!
His EX Roll’s 2nd last hit can be comboed into FAlv2 but there are better combos unless you rly want to combo into crane U2
IMO most of his bad matchups got better and good matchups got worse eg. Hakan
makoto got worse damage and health wise but her dash is better, so it’s a wash.
rose does a little bit more damage (ex spiral does 120 vs 100), close MK gives +4 instead of +3 and piety (fwd+rh) has more range now. u2 is faster but not invincible. not too different.
Piety is also safer on block/hit/whiff, like the way it was in Vanilla. I think i was able to punish it on block in certain ranges since piety moves her forward, but no more.
Duolon sucks.
EDIT: Whiff cancelling is huge in KOF, it allows you to cover multiple angles at once. Billy’s c.C -> f+A does just this. Cover that jump in and immediately cover the low poke. It’s amazing.

Iori has no get in free card. only thing that makes him top tier is his damage and his mixup. I’ve read on here and dreamcancel he has issues getting in.
j.D mostly for air-to-air with neutral or back hop. j.C is his best jump in but is slow. gets blown up by anti-airs and other hops. j.B is his best air normal by far. starts fast, stays out there forever, very good priority. stops jumps and hops dead, will still hit standing opponents, but never hits crouchers.
j.CD the only mixup you get is a setup for another hop. maybe some time to close to perfectly close range so you don’t have to worry about qcb+C whiffing. j.CD could be the mixup. get people used to the extra blockstun then tag them with a j.B so you can tick into command grab sooner. in a game where your BnB combo starters are 2 or 3 frames you don’t need or even want a ton of frame advantage.
in the corner, CD not a great choice. midscreen go for it most of the time to push them back to the corner as quickly as possible. blowback is a positioning tool more than anything altho soft knockdown in this game is okay too because somebody who fast stands can be thrown instantly on wakeup, but it seems you should never fast stand when your opponent is able to run within throw distance
anti-airs he doesn’t have anything as brainless as Duo Lon. closest thing to that would be neutral hop B or hop back B. far fierce is whiff cancelable so you can cover more than one approach with it by buffering in dp+A (dp+C whiffs on crouchers) or qcb+P or K. just the move on its own does better vs hops than you would think. early c.C stops hops dead. tripguard c.B shuts down sloppy jump ins. dash in close C also gdlk. I can’t find any use for his close or far jab except to reset people.
close C is just a buff ass move in general. 2 frame startup, starts powerful combos. run up b+C catches random rolls, jumps, techs throw if they are mashing and starts strings otherwise. close B hits low but lets them jump or roll away
Iori isn’t your style tho. play Billy Kane instead
