i dont make new years resolutions but I like the sf resolutions
my sf resolution is to aa with ralf’s df+a 100% of the time in possible situations. obviously if i get short hopped its hard - but against any normal jumpin, i need to hit that. it’s so huge to his overall gameplan because getting an untechable knockdown from a defensive option is really clutch due to him not getting any really reliable gtfo moves like k’'s dp or something. it lets you start some offense from his sub-par defense. the bomb is ok i guess since it has some upper body invulnerability but the armor’d qcf+p move seems to get beat a lot more than i’d like
2012 is a life changing year for me as well. Most likely I’ll end up moving not before July.
Where to?
Not at all! I’m speaking from life experiences!
Probably to Quebec. Maybe to Fort Macleod.
Ness and I are also planning to move downtown when she’s done school this year. We’ve already discussed it and people are always welcome over for game nights (video/board)
What does that video show exactly? Just renda cancelling cr.shorts into rekka? You can already do cr.short, cr.short, cr.jab xx rekka… what makes this so good?
I was bitching to falken earlier about how when I hit a max range c. b, I can’t do anything off of it. Too far to hit with c. lp, nothing links, all that jazz. You can’t special cancel c. b anyway and it doesn’t cancel into F+A either.
This video means I can do max range c. lk into rekkas.
It just means I have another option on hit. Right now I am trying to integrate using rekkas in my game as a footsie move and preemptive anti-air. I really like duo lon’s rekkas… he moves forward like a wall and that’s what i figure the hitbox is like. it has a high hitbox, it’s an amazing anti-air and you still get full juggle potential, etc etc
Plus it means on block I have a frame trap that should work pretty well.
Although I just told showed you guys how to deal with teleport… You can also grab the teleport out of rekkas, etc. So viability of rekka decreases for the time being.
Since you’re throwing down your fancy pants terminology can you explain to me dug how to actually do it? Cause I have no idea how (He mentioned kara cancelling the jabs into rekkas) but is there a trick to renda cancelling?
ALSO in case nobody has noticed yet the first hit of rekkas assuming i do nothing is punishable on hit.
Rekkas are super ultra mega punishable. And right now I think nobody is punishing them properly.
If you take the time to learn how to chase down duo lon out of teleport cancel and are otherwise savvy enough to react to single hit rekkas then they are instantly a less viable option and you force me to rely on footsies more, which also means you have better chances to NOT get nailed by c. d.
Right now I play passive aggressive and just try and space a mix up that is hard to block. I spend all of my time playing “footsies” just waiting for ppl to jump. Otherwise I can fly around and frustrate you.
My team is super misbalanced right now. Duo lon completely rapes everybody. Duo lon and I are like Yin and Yang. He’s my Vega.
Then K’ can do well if I set my mind to it. He is so crazy fun to play. He’s like a heroin addicted Sagat. He zones like such a champ. He’s 100% safe all the time. If you want to beat K’ get the angle on him. I feel like I seldom have to rely on QCF+a/c xx f+ d. Most of the time I feel like my K’ loses because I get too impatient. He can play rock solid. But I don’t feel as though ppl know how to capitalize against K’… they’re always waiting for him to do something. That’s not how it works, he is passive aggressive. You have to make a read and take it to him and punish HARD, don’t just hit with a j. c and reset him into something useless… finish your combo
he also doesn’t have great mixups… if he’s lucky he can get a cross up. but it’s not something i’ve learned to rely on, i can’t get it when i want. he just pressures you.
It would probably be easier if we knew the frame data.
As for IORI,… goddamn my iori is shitty
he needs work.
Iori is definitely one of the harder characters to pick up, from my experience so far.
I am just clueless at outside-right-next-to-someone-range. His jump ins are so slow and j. D isn’t but it hardly hits air-to-ground opponents at all…
Like, I’m assuming you have to make people scared of trying to move towards you, thereby alowing you to stack j. cd blockstun on your enemy for a subsequent dirty mixup, but that’s just so hard… his anti-airs aren’t that good…
I think it’s because I don’t use j . b enough. that move actually appears to be quite gross.
This could just be me getting mentally guard broken by mixup-heavy characters because i just don’t speak that language when it comes to fighters, but hey, if it means i can get better i’ll stick it out.
after all he’s fckn iori. can’t not play him.
KOFXIII is a sweet game fo sho.
So what you wanna do is basically chain your cr.short into your cr.jab and kara cancel your cr.jab into rekkas. I tried doing it just now and by button presses were:
cr.b, cr.b, cr.b, cr.a qcf c. But you have to kinda plink the a~c and input your qcf between them.
I was also trying max range cr.b into whiff cancel cr.a xx rekka, and it was really hard to get the rekkas to actually connect. A version of rekka didnt combo because it didnt move forward enough and C version of rekkas didnt combo all the time because the startup was a bit too long.
you’re saying though that c version of rekkas CAN combo assuming i can nail the timing?
So I was playing with kara cancels with Shen and kara cancel st.a into :f:+b seems like a good way to pre-emptively beat hops while still maintaining pressure if they don’t jump.
I haven’t tested this against anyone yet though, so take it with a grain of salt. I do remember that most characters have inordinately huge kara window on certain normals which can sometimes lend themselves to slowish option selects (depending on the hitboxes) to mount a safe(er?) pressure. C+D attacks often seem to have this property. For example, Terry can do a whiffed C+D into D crack shoot to get close. Obviously none of this is impregnable, but I can see a good few applications.
wish i played KOF so i could say cool stuff
1st day of work 2012
thanks to all you foos who helped me get through last year’s work days. here’s to another year of posting! haha
oh, and noon-hour beat downs are in effect, i’m gonna be doing endless battles between 12-1 if you wanna jam lemme know sukkaaas
so now that we’ve had a few weeks of v2012, my thoughts on Ken are that he got nerfed in the grand scheme of things.
his favourable matchups got easier but his hard matchups got harder.
against Dhalsim, Guile, Rose, Chun Li, Guy, Ibuki, Blanka i really need the knockdown and stay on them like flies on sh1t.
what does everyone else think of their character? or just v2012 in general?
