Kinda what Ultradavid’s article was talking about. No disrespect, but it’s undeniable that the FGC is less welcoming than a lot of other communities. Saying you have to prove your worth at a video game before you can talk about it is kinda silly. And then ganging up on someone like the pack of wolves aforementioned… Constructive criticism, no matter the source, is ever a bad thing. If he’s wrong, and his opinions are getting under your skin, then use his comments as a drive to prove him wrong.
I think the problem is he delivered said constructive criticism in a douchey way.

yup call me ignorant cause i agree with sam. i wouldnt take someones advice seriously unless its from someone better than me or at least near my level (not trying to be conceited at all, just saying).
I think everyone’s butthurt over nothing. Kyle’s a solid dude and someone being cocky should be answered with “fine by me, ft5” not boo hooing and name calling.

i really think we need to cool it on kyle though, guys. he gave me some really good advice - and i rarely do get it. whenever i do play it’s online (lol) or with friends and just having fun, with beerz etc. (again, lol). the validity of his suggestions were quite significant.
there may have been some thoughts of his which were stated without playing some of the best in town, sure. that part is a little out of line, but nothing worth putting him on blast for. he is the “new guy” – we should welcome him! ask him to play on XBL, i’m sure he’d be down.
perhaps our community is really too nice to each other in comparison to others. maybe that is the point he really wanted to get across? it could be much more competitive out east then what we are used to… have you ever gandered in the toronto threads, etc? that shit is c r a z y.
for example, just think about the amount of rage from the eastern scene that lapchi, troy and greg had to deal with when canada cup rose up.
those guys are (/were) seriously full of rage. i bet their local stuff isn’t much different.

Serious though, if you guys go to other scenes, the players can be straight up assholes to each other a lot of the time. Some people take a lot of pride in this stuff, and obsess about who’s better, who can beat who, etc, and it can get quite confrontational. I’m not pegging Mr. Sharpie as this (not by a longshot!) but he’s also probably not used to how we’re the opposite and so utterly bromantic with each other lol

What’s this about? I don’t even know the guy and this annoyed me. I don’t see how this isn’t worth putting him on blast for. He hasn’t beaten anyone but he has nothing to learn from them? That doesn’t even make sense. He deserves a kick in the ass (metaphorically). Put up or shut up.
edit: if anything, being too nice is not having pride in your local scene. are you guys happier to have a new guy call everyone out with a passive-aggressive “not trying to be a dick” statement or let the new guy say what he wants and just let it go? I’m not exactly the best player in the world here but I call bullshit on anyone that says they have nothing to learn from the players in Calgary.
