j.hk, with psy, tk nades xx vb before u land, work good for this, as well as holding down with hp x4, call psy, scimiatars. 95% if not more, of this rushdown style with cable requires incredible grenade placement. this is a reason why it works so well on sentinal. he can’t stand there, cuz cable’s range will hit him with everything. if he starts to fly, he’ll have to try to abuse cable while avoiding grenades, beams, and psylocke xx ahvb.
sent’s ground assist works well with this as well…
since cable has no air dashing, he’s very hard to rushdown with, and considering he’s not exactly the fastest character in the game, he’s definitely alot harder to do it with. this is where the grenades, and sent drones come in. they keep them down, and set up confusing situations, where the opponent will have to think twice about jumping, cuz there’s a stream of grenades floating over them at random points, but well thought out points (throwing random attacks obviously doesn’t help any, but will seem random if done in seperation). if u do them in sequence, and always using the same type of nade, they will become predictable, and escapable with ease. when pushed, cable has TKlpviperbeam, and tkHKnades to work with so they don’t fly up, sent’s drones come back in, and you’re back to rushing…
the primary moves to cable’s rush…
-tk nades (lk, and hk)
-standing nades when in close hk mainly
-an assist that doesn’t throw them high or off screen (example: storm variety, sent drones, psylocke, cyclops, ironman. NOT CAPCOM)
-tk viperbeams (lp mainly, hp if it’s guaranteed and you’re gonig to cancel to AHVB.
-at least 10 setups for AHVB using the assist that you made, and solo… i have about 35 setups total for AVHB using any assist that i normally use that are effective in fights.
setups that are effective:
clk, clk, shk, ahvb
hp x 4, scim xx ahvb
clk, clk, psy, ahvb
(corner)clk, clk, call storm variety, chk xx command throw, ahvb
inneffective:
j.hk, call ironman, slk, slk, chp, dash, time warp OTG, dash, shp, don’t shoot, ahvb…
too flashy, not easy, not practical, yadda…
basically. the rushdown is the advanced use of all of cable’s basics. nades, TK attacks, and AHVB every single mistake. what you’re trying to do is get them to miss a block, and keep them grounded, so as soon as they get hit, ahvb will own them
this sounds like what you do with cable normally, but it’s rushdown, becuase u play VERY agrressively when you do so. don’t worry too much about blockage, cuz ur learning to use ur assist to protect you during his lag.
