Cable combos... i'm working on some

what u think of these?

They are ok but they rely on Assist…and thats not really my thing with Cable.

Cable is one of my all time favorites I was happy they put him in the game including the fact as a child I was raised on X-Men, X-Force, X-Factor, Wolverine, Cable, Spider-Man etc. but I got quite a few combos of my own I made the other day wit’ em

wow these are some incredible combos… i wished i thought about these… so sad…

they’re more phenomnal than…

some1 said that they’re ok, but require an assist…

well, i never mentioned anything that needs an assist as an initial hit. sure i mentioned some OTG’s but that’s ok. all the combos connect.

my thing with cable is unlike the norm… i play hard rushdown with cable, similar to from what i’ve heard sanford kelly plays. i actually want to get to CF within a few weeks, and play his cable 1 on 1, to see how my cable rush stands up to his…

if u can learn to use his tknades and such, cable’s rush is incredible. it’s alot more technical than trijumps, since he has none. but cable can rush really good IMHO

now… some more combos i’m werkin on… since the others got old…

Ironman assist…
-j.hk, call ironman, lk, lk, ironman lifts them up, dash under, c.hp xx AHVB
-nade over them (to keep them from jumping), dash, clk, call ironman, j.hk(really fast hk, cuz 90% they’ll block the clk) IM hits, nade, fall into command throw
^^ this wont really work in a fight… but it’s a cool combo

-j.hk, lk, lk, timewarp, throw nade at about 10 hits into TW, fall into c.hk (juggle), command throw
-(when they’re last)j.hk, lk, lk, timewarp, throw nade at about 10 hits into TW, fall into snapback, dash, s.hp (don’t shoot), xx ahvb

the best combos are:

crouching kick (x2), standing roundhouse, wait a second, Super Jump to triple AHVB. 90-150 hits ( 50- 90 percent damage)

time flip, wait until the gunshots and throw a time grenade, triple AHVB. (40-89 percent damage) 60-100 hits

crouching punch (x2),psy xx to triple AHVB. (50-90 percent damage)50-100 hits

those do a TON of damage.

I just came up with this one the other day:

jump in HK, lp, lk, hk+psy (aaa), lk grenade, jump in hk~AHVB

P.S. If you delay the grenade just a tab, the opp will be stunned on ground and can followup with Time Flip, crossover HK, lp, lk , pause, lp, lk, hk~ahvb

cable rush down?

I’m alittle skeptical as to what characters you’ve played using a rushdown cable…cuz these days i have never met a good rushdown cable especially one that can takeon a pixie character, or even an offensive sentinel. I was wondering if you could elaborate.

I don’t think so. If you’re playing any of the two cable teams people use nowadays (row and scrub) : (jump hk),lk, mk, hk + assist, AHVB x 3 takes 100%. That is the combo everybody uses

j/hk land s.lp s.lp super jump j.lp j.lp hvb

looks cool cuz the opponent is so high in the air when you do the hvb.

I got another…but its not partical at all…and I’ve only done it like 1 out of like 100 tries. its s.lp s.lp j.lp j.lk j.lp j.lk lk gernade ( I rarely get the gernade to connect, it depends on the position of the lk) then qcf +hp , hvb…it works but don’t expect to get it anytime soon. its really impractical.

it works on solos… not runaways, so storm will still bitch cable up.

basis of the trap works with the new team that i’ve adopted. team soo, i think…

mags/cable/psy

j.hk, with psy, tk nades xx vb before u land, work good for this, as well as holding down with hp x4, call psy, scimiatars. 95% if not more, of this rushdown style with cable requires incredible grenade placement. this is a reason why it works so well on sentinal. he can’t stand there, cuz cable’s range will hit him with everything. if he starts to fly, he’ll have to try to abuse cable while avoiding grenades, beams, and psylocke xx ahvb.

sent’s ground assist works well with this as well…

since cable has no air dashing, he’s very hard to rushdown with, and considering he’s not exactly the fastest character in the game, he’s definitely alot harder to do it with. this is where the grenades, and sent drones come in. they keep them down, and set up confusing situations, where the opponent will have to think twice about jumping, cuz there’s a stream of grenades floating over them at random points, but well thought out points (throwing random attacks obviously doesn’t help any, but will seem random if done in seperation). if u do them in sequence, and always using the same type of nade, they will become predictable, and escapable with ease. when pushed, cable has TKlpviperbeam, and tkHKnades to work with so they don’t fly up, sent’s drones come back in, and you’re back to rushing…

the primary moves to cable’s rush…

-tk nades (lk, and hk)
-standing nades when in close hk mainly
-an assist that doesn’t throw them high or off screen (example: storm variety, sent drones, psylocke, cyclops, ironman. NOT CAPCOM)
-tk viperbeams (lp mainly, hp if it’s guaranteed and you’re gonig to cancel to AHVB.
-at least 10 setups for AHVB using the assist that you made, and solo… i have about 35 setups total for AVHB using any assist that i normally use that are effective in fights.

setups that are effective:
clk, clk, shk, ahvb
hp x 4, scim xx ahvb
clk, clk, psy, ahvb
(corner)clk, clk, call storm variety, chk xx command throw, ahvb

inneffective:
j.hk, call ironman, slk, slk, chp, dash, time warp OTG, dash, shp, don’t shoot, ahvb…

too flashy, not easy, not practical, yadda…

basically. the rushdown is the advanced use of all of cable’s basics. nades, TK attacks, and AHVB every single mistake. what you’re trying to do is get them to miss a block, and keep them grounded, so as soon as they get hit, ahvb will own them

this sounds like what you do with cable normally, but it’s rushdown, becuase u play VERY agrressively when you do so. don’t worry too much about blockage, cuz ur learning to use ur assist to protect you during his lag.
