Quick Scrub question:
What is the Best Thing To Follow Up With After a C. Viper’s Focus Attack?
The Best I Could Come Up With Is a LP Thunder Knuckle
With a crumple? If I have meter I usually dash in, c.FP, EX Seismo, SJC BK. If I have Ultra, well… ultra lol. If I’ve got no meter, I usually just do something like c.MK, MP TK.
I’ve been working on the double FP combo, since if you don’t have an EX bar, the beginning of the combo will usually fill up a bar so you can then follow up into EX Seismo, SJC BK.
^ Dash cancel, f.P, EX seismo (l.seismo if no meter), hjc BK, Ultra/f.P TK (ultra if you have it, you can f.P TK in the corner if no ultra meter).
That’s the usual answer, anyway. You can always c.fP to m.TK for less damage, but more chance of success.
There’s always feint variants, but I’d say going for the simpler combos is the best way to go.
EDIT: Man, got there before me.
in my humble opinion you should use a HP ThunderknuckleX2 in Close instead of Burnkick (easyer to time more damage and stun^^) in ranges close enugh for .FP, EX Seismo the knuckle will hit twice
double firce is at the moment out of my reach to hard to learn need to learn more important stuff atm
but there is no use for BK if you can use HPKnuckle twice except your in the corner and there is the possibility of a hp knuckle after the burning kick^^
I’m having a hard time with air-to-air priority (air-footsies?).
Whenever someone jumps at me the same time I jump at them, their move always seems to beat mine out in mid-air. Any good normals to throw out in this situation?
some issue here and in additional i beat onetime the FIST of the shoryuken with a AIR HK is this common/usabel in real fight??
sorry, annother crappy qn: what are insta-cross up burning kicks?
I think light kick has pretty high priority in the air.
Straight up j.HK or any of her light attack normals seem to have the highest priority IMO. uf+HK is pretty good too but the range is short.
j.mp has done me proper at the right angles
Thanks for the info it helped my game a lot
Hey I was wonder…do any of you use the HP TK feint outside of the c.HP > HP TK feint > c.HP combo? Just wanted to know if anyone has applied the use of the most difficult feint within block strings etc instead of using MP or LP TK feint. Is it unnecessary to practice this or will it help my game in the long run?
Alright, I never really start using a character until I beat their Hard Trials. Finally got this done with Viper.
My question is: What should I start training and practicing with Viper? Like list in steps arranged from important to least important. I know I need to master Seismo xx Seismo, but is there anything else I should make more of a priority beforehand? Basic combos?
Let me know.
how do you think that seismo chains are important? its just a nice gimmik not more not less …
learn crossups with burningkick and seismo SJC burningkicks
what makes viper s tier? i don’t see it.
The fact she is a Milf. oh and probably because all the mix-ups at her disposal.
The Seismo xx Seismo’s are not what I would consider high priority in the start with her, it’s just part of her mind games, and pressure on keeping a turtle uncomfortable
Personally I would say
Learn crossup spacing for low trajectory burning kicks
How to punish with with Fierce Ex Seismo SJC bk, relying on throws or a weaker combo as your method of punishing unsafe but power moves like a Ken Fierce shoryuken or Sagat Tiger uppercut is not gonna deture those as well
How to mix in her overhead
Learn the timing and spacing for her Ultra after an AA TK, as it is one of the easier ways to get into her Ultra
Her basic Mk/MP m.tk combos
Learn how to use similiar spacing to do multiple things on wakeup, ie. I like being at m.seismic hammer range cause from there I can feasibly jump in, seismic hammer or do a low trajectory bk crossup, all from a range the seems seemingly unaggressive.
While your playing though you shuld really be thinking of what kind of patterns you naturally fall into and then thinking of ways to incorporate a different outcome with the same look. You really want to get in your opponents head with Viper. I know one of my weaknesses with Viper is getting to aggressive with low trajectory bk’s so I find myself getting counter jumped or running into a focus attack. So I started to incorporate low trajectory bk’s that use the lk because it usually beats counter jumps and it also drops me at a safe distance from someone charging their focus attacks, and throws them off.
Q. Why is viper such a bitch? Thanks.
That’s as good of a question as who is worse between Vega and Rose. The game is still really early into things so I won’t totally put my feet down in something even as credible as a Tougeki tier list which places Viper, Sagat, Akuma and Zangief as literally the 4 horsemen of SFIV and everyone else under. Then there are other tier lists that have Blanka as 2nd or 3rd best and whatever. I say just give the game time.
BTW according to that tier list Viper is actually better than S tier. She is S+ tier along with the 3 others. S tier is the high mid tier with Ryu, Rufus and a couple others. Then there’s the A and B tiers. There’s no C or less meaning as far as the arcade version of the game goes…the Japanese believe the game is very balanced. Even the worst characters in the game are still worthy of a B ranking. Often in Japanese tier lists you’ll see C and D list characters.
I will tell you this though…Viper is going nowhere but up on the tier list. Even if she ultimately doesn’t become top tier she has more room to grow than any other character in the game. She has so much untapped potential and is basically a bag full of glitches.
And all the other characters admit it!
