C Viper - Combo Thread

Looking for some advice.

I’m trying to get a good combo off of Haggar assist. I seen Viscant bait someone with Haggar, df.H (otg gun), into combo. So my team is Viper/Haggar/Doom, and I’m trying to get a full combo off a Haggar assist hit. So far I’ve been using dp.A, SJ IADF HS, land, MHS, H DJ HS*, Doom MS assist, dp.A, S, air, H DJ HS, land, dp.A, qcb+AA. Gets me like 660K+ but I’m not satisfied with it.

*Usually gets me corner

I would like to try to do the Thunder Knuckle H xx S SJ combos, in there but I don’t even know how that would work or really how to do it. Does anyone think I could do Doom assist and instead of S, do TK H xx S SJ and then whatever that burn kick combo is that allows you to land and super? Suggestions?

My target Haggar combo nets me I think 1millionish with the easy mode DHC and more with the hard one.

Haggar hits, 623A, 28, 6A+B, C xx 214A~S, C, S -/, C, 236C~S, 9, B, B, C, 9, B, C, S xx 214S -/ C, S, /-, C, 9, C, S, -/ (Summon Jam session) 623A, 62369A 62369A, 2147 C -/ xx 214A+B DHC

You can take out the Dante section and replace it with a similar Doom string, likely something akin to 623A, 5, 2369C~S, 236C xx 214A+B DHC 623A+B

How much damage do you get out of the raw Burst Time XX body splash? Seems like it should be an awful lot if you hit with all the falling section.

Trying the version I am currently using, not sure I can do the version you gave me just yet, with DHC and corner, DHCing right after the last hit of Burst Time, I get 816k - 822k. Tried it twice and got two different numbers. With corner that is sick and satisfying damage for 2 meter, but I will start working on what you suggested.

Also Doom MS isnt working out the greatest as an assist, only really works in combos, so I may change is but Plasma Beam and hidden missiles are not the greatest either, as I don’t have a combo assist.

Not interested in using Dante but I may give Ammy some more thought. And Cold Star would definitely help in and out of combos.

Thanks a lot man, played a lot the last couple of days and I’ve been using the TK trick, works like a charm! Glad to know I have a friendly place I can go to if I ever need help with my Viper.

Also I just got done watching some Marlinpie/K-Beast/GNS gameplay and I’ve become fully dedicated to learning rapid seismos. I gave a shot at it a while a go with no success and just gave up on it completely. Now I wanna learn it this time but it just seems Impossible to do on a 360 pad. Any Viper players on here that play on pad willing to share any tips? Because I’m stumped

Viper can make hidden missiles stupid with both seismo and focus. Plasma beam is decent for her but I prefer Task arrows or other similar things if I’m going that direction.

What a coincidence that you mention this. Even though I do not play on pad, I was trying to learn a friend few days ago how to rapid Seismo, and he plays on the 360 pad (uses the analog.) Long story short, it actually seemed slightly easier to do it on pad to me, haha. So yes, it is very possible on pad, and the inputs I used with the analog stick are:

623A, (hold 6 while Viper performs the Seismo - holding feels like 2-3 frames) 236(9+A), (hold 6) 236(9+A), (hold 6) 236(9+A), … etc. This seems to work, and I could do like 20 in a row after a few tries.

Note: your motions should be fast and fluent, and be sure to press 9+A at the same time. If you get a Thunder Knuckle, you’ve input it too fast. If you get a jump, you’re too late. There is also a slight timing adjustment after 2 Seismos. You should check out the Viper technical thread if you need more info on Seismic Hammers. Just keep working on it whenever you go Training Mode for a few days, and you will get it down in no time.

I’ve put some thought into using Taskmaster, I just really like Doom as an anchor. That and high damage Task combos seem kind of hard. I may have to make multiple versions of a Viper team just depending on what I am playing against. I use Viper with Haggar cause one of the guys I play against uses Wesker/Haggar and that shit is just annoying.

Do you prefer Taskmaster just for extending combos, or do you find it helps you land damage?

I’ve found the hardest part about playing Viper is setups. Is your team developed to land combos or to extend combos? Or does it happen to work out as both?

I believe in most cases (and I’m not speaking on the behalf of Chrisis) it is much easier to extend combos with her than to land the initial hit. But she just needs to get close to start her high/low mix-ups. She definitely has a more complex system of mix-ups. I wish the pay off was better for the execution because there are much simpler characters in this game who have dumb top tier mix-ups (not just talking about wolverine). You must be ready to start your mix-up when you get your chance to get in. She has a infinite number of ways to hit a character once she is close but you must have a good setup that not only hits but allows for a maximum damage.

My team is built around decent zoning (have to be smart about it which I’m still learning) but my assists also act as good safe mix-ups.

If you can find a good set-up that uses Heavy BK you have a decent mix-up that will hit unexpecting players and lead to high damage. I can kill almost about anyone off of a heavy BK. It’s fun.

Taskmaster has very slow start-up assists so he is mostly used to extend combos. My time with him just adds a greater ability to zone than anything. I really only found a couple good mix-ups with him and they can become predictable if used too much. Viper is more suited IMO for a faster ranged assist.

I tried running some of those dirty mag assist bk feint mixups but when people are super jumping around with dive kicks it becomes less practical. :frowning:

Yeah it is definitely situational Killey. Still works if you can get them to block or have nothing else to do but block. I have only used it a few times and only landed it once. So yeah. Gotta have them on the ground.

Awesome thanks for the advice I really appreciate it, I’ll try your method as soon as i get the chance and let you know how it worked out. Im out of town for a few days so I wont be able to jump on it any time soon.

Now if only she had similar mix ups in SF4. :frowning: The hilarious part is that in my wish list thread for AE buffs before MvC3 came out was a feintable BK with 0 frame recovery like Gouki’s demon flip palm and then sure enough she had feintable BK’s in MvC3. lol

Messing around in training mode and came up with a combo for Viper/Dante/Phoenix:

Relatively near corner:

214A~S, C, S -/ C+ summon TK shot xx 236A (TK shot hits) 5C xx 623A 62369A, 19, C xx 214A~S, C, S xx 214A~S, C, S -/ B, C, S /-\ B, B, C 9, B, C, S -/ Summon Jam session 623A 62369A 62369A, 2147C.

750K damage, 2.5 gauges built, 0 used. Hit twice to achieve dark Phoenix, also leads to scary mix up after it finishes.

Chrisis just wondering if you have messed around with Viper/Chris/Dante much in training mode? This is the team I am switching to ATM because im not really digging the Iron Man changes in UMvC3.

I tried Viper/Dante/Chris and it’s indeed fun. Gunfire albeit sub optimal still lets you do everything you’d want to albeit with lower damage, I just saw the glory of X-factor 3 shotgun this weekend. Welcome set up with Chris 2 incendiaries down jump in shotgun land shotgun does Over 500K damage on chip and kills on hit. I think it can be much fun though I really think Dante’s DHC is better for Viper than Chris’ since it’s a safe way to bring her out get her health back then DHCing back into her with him is really easy on hit for huge damage.

Is Viper/Dante/Chris the order you would reccomend? I am not a huge fan of Chris in level 3 just because it is pretty easy to run away from him.

I’m not 100% sure what would be the best order, it likely depends on what you’re fighting, I think Viper/Dante/Chris would be the best order in a game without X-factor, however this game does have X-factor, so it depends how you prefer to use it. If you have a really good Chris that’s great at catching run aways I’d let him have it just because of what you can do if you get someone to block for half a second, but XF 2 Dante with an assist to set up dirty teleport stuff is pretty insane too, or having Viper/Chris/Dante and losing a bit of DHC synergy for better XF3 if that’s what you prefer. Catching runaway sucks for Chris, if he has a way to make people stay on the ground however he’s infinitely more useful. XF2 Chris with Dante is pretty scary too, went into training mode and even with advance guard on you can chip almost half life on Wesker in one string.

Yea thats why my order usually is Viper/Chris/Dante. Chris with Dante in level 2 XFC in the corner isn’t fun for people.

Sexy sexy combo in progress:

Requires:
Corner
IM repulsor
Dante Jam session

214A~S, C, S, -/, C xx 623A xx 62369A, 19, C xx 214A~S, C, S xx 214A~S, C, S -/, B, C, S, (Summon replusor), /-\ S, Air dash down, S, (repulsor’s last hit) -/ [[Up to here I’m hitting, timing this next part is really really hard. Must do just before the enemy touches the ground.]] 623A xx 62369A, 19, C, 9, C, S -/ (summon Dante) 623A xx 62369A xx 62369A xx 2147C

Any advice/help people can give with getting the seismos to come out the right direction? I think maybe dash back then do it would work, but this is looking like it’ll break 800K meterless if I can hit it. XD

That sounds sexy as fuck… Even the dante fanboys got nothing on that… There’s no way I can do it with my recorder hooked up to give a picture, do you have one Chrisis? I want to see it for real, not just in my head.

The only way I think you could get those siesmos to come out right is to do normal TK DP motions, in opposite direction of one and other… which would be really hard.
