Thanks. I only wanted Ammy for the ridiculous Slow Dante combos, I actually hate playing her. What about Dante Jam Session and like Task Horizontal Arrows? I’ve got pretty garbage execution so adding someone like Task makes my job easier.
Yeah i copied team x-ray as a secondary team just for abusing dante/ammy ridiculousness (and actually did 3rd place with it at the european road to evo major in june xD).
As far as viper/dante/task goes, i’d consider it better than /ammy. Cold star is good, but jam session is a bit better and H arrows are very good for viper (and for dante also).
Jam session is ridiculous with viper, it’s why you see every one of us use Viper/Dante. Playing viper without Dante is like playing wolverine without akuma.
True. Right now I’m all training mode because I can’t find match online (I searched for 8 hours straight yesterday and couldn’t find anyone so I just gave up.) I have a pretty basic combo down, but I haven’t added assists or anything do it. Shits fun though, with She-Hulk I haven’t had to a learn a new combo since like May so yeah lol.
I think ill be setup in training mode more now because im sick of online play, atleast with my viper team. Online is so unforgiving and random sometimes for heavy execution stuff. I need to figure out a new simple team but i hate simple teams lol
Figured out a beast setup with viper. I’ve been looking for set-ups that allow you not to look for a hit confirm at specific points to make you choose what to do next. Because that shit is just too hard in marvel sometimes. Anyways on any hit of this string you can go into the same combo and its a nice safe mix-up.
Tri-dash S+A1 (Mag beam assist) cr.M (beam assist hits here) xx h.BK.
Very simple brain dead viper string and gives a nice high-low-high blockstring here that is also safe and cannot be escaped aside from early pushblock. I want to say they have to pushblock on the tri-dash S and like 2 frames as the cr.M is blocked otherwise they block the Mag assist and it negates the advanced guard
I’m playing Viper, Dante and Iron Man right now, I really like this team, I’ll try to make it my sub.
Welcome, to the club, you are now the third member… lol. I recommend IM in second spot, but Zaxima likes it your way.
Why do you think IM is better as middle man? Doesn’t Dante benefits from his assist as well?
Yeah, but I would argue IM gets more from having Dante around. Dante lets IM work his mix-up, and can give his combos a little more meter build. Also, who would you rather have as an anchor, the man that can do anything… or IM. The big issue with this config, is that you can’t do a safe DHC into IM.
Interesting… Which assists do you use for the characters? I’m currently using B for Viper, and A for Dante and Iron Man.
Viper - either BK or TK. BK for Mixup, or TK for derpy-ness, depending on matchup.
IM - Unibeam
Dante- JamSession
Can you use any of those assists to extend Dante’s combos? I know you can use Unibeam, even though I have no idea how.
You can use unibeam to get an extra OTG, 3CCCC~6H+A1~A+S>jS>3CCCC, and in some situations you can get an addittional prop-shredder launch, but its really finicky.
Vipers assists are either for Mixup or Dead Angle, depending on which assist you choose.
Burn kick with Dante lets me hit over 800K pre-DHC with him. It’s really high damage for letting him get more jump S/volcanoes in.
 Now that I’m able to rapid Seismo to my heart’s content and I’ve pretty much solidified my BnB game, I’m looking to get to that next level with Viper.
Viper’s abare is a very interesting topic for me, but I’m trying to extend pickups past Day One EX Burning Kick for aerials and EX Thunder Knuckle for ground pickups. For random ground hits, I can kinda react with Seismo, but outside of s.:h:, it’s difficult for me to hit confirm into the proper strength of Seismo and effectively follow it up with a distance-appropriate attack. Thunder Knuckle is much easier, though, so I’m trying to perfect the cancel timing on it to lead into extended ground strings. For aerial pickups, it’s so tempting to go into like three or four hits with a double jump mixed in and then blast out an EX Burning Kick for a proper relaunch, but I was saying to myself that there has to be a better way, which leads me to my main question regarding feints.
My question relates to both problems, I think. If I can find a way to get good followups to random ground hits, are feint combos (something akin to chaining :l:, , :h: and then canceling into :qcf::l: but feinting it before the hit comes out to link into another ground hit) a practical way to extend a ground series? At first, the answer may seem like yes, but I suspect the answer might not be so simple when considering proration and scaling versus the air chains. Secondly, are aerial feint combos (something akin to chaining ,,:h: in the air, then canceling to :qcb::h: and then feinting before the hit comes out to link into another aerial hit) a practical way to extend an aerial series? I’ve tried skimming over the thread for some possible answer and some insight to these, but I probably have not seen too much talk about either subject.
I don’t really need like a combo transcript or anything, but just some thoughts from anybody who has experimented with these techniques would be awesome. Just some things to look out for or to make sure to take into consideration before I lock myself in the lab again would be great to save some time and frustration. My questions deal mostly with an assistless Viper, as I’m trying to build her into a character that I can put with confidence on a team without necessarily having to build that team around her. Thanks, guys!
There is a better way!
I don’t know if you had seen my video Yannick, but you should check it out. It explains into some depth about what you should do for Viper’s combos. I’m not going to say its the say all for Viper combos because EVERYONE has different approaches to combos. Marlin Pie and I are complete opposites when it comes to combos, but his works and is damaging. So are mine. It all comes down to your team synergy really. I try and use combos that don’t ever use EX.moves and just hypers. Sometimes I do, but only when I want to place myself in a specific position when I kill a character… but that is a whole different topic. In the video I also go over briefly a bunch of different techniques you can apply to your combos.
If you’re looking for those extra hits you can infact do heavy TK/F(NH) (Thunder Knuckle Feint No Hit. Gosh we need to find a better way of saying this on the forums) off of st.H normal and go into st.M or cr.M to link it. This would obviously be somewhere near the combo starter (Watch my video I will post a link) Good thing for you though in UMvC3 its been confirmed (in what people have played) that Light and Medium Thunderknuckle on feint are much much easier to cancel on hit than in this version (1 frame link). So we will all be looking forward to that definitely.
You can also do as you were saying in the air and do BK/F(NH) to continue and link a couple hits. These though I would use mostly for the stair kick loop. You can use it elsewhere but with Viper combos if you get all the damage you can before your launcher you cannot link the BK/F(NH) no matter how fast you can do it. I have a ridiculous understanding of what works with Viper for some of the higher damaging combos. Again this is just my style and I haven’t seen a single Viper that really duplicates the same thing they see in videos yet. Maybe that is because Viper isn’t that much of a popular character yet, but here tools are so versatile you could probably figure out something completely new no one has seen yet and it still be as effective as stuff you’ve seen out there. Apply techniques you see here to your own if you have your own way of doing things or rip mine! Good luck.
Also if you’re curious about the properties of Viper’s Feint moves I’ve got a decent post in the ‘Working Overtime’ Thread that isn’t pinned in the Viper forum. Lot of information there.
If you have anymore questions you know where we are. There are others here that can give you tips as well.
 Strange. My birthday is still a while off.
Thanks for all the information, by the way.
I’d hate to ruin the feeling that it is your birthday… soo Happy Birthday!
Were you still gonna make a tutorial on the StairCase Loop? I only recently got that down, it was… weirder… than I expected. It’s good tech to spread around as it’s ver useful and lets you save a whole bar of EX.
