hahah lol good stuff. BTw I noticed when playing yesterday that they seem to have improved HP TKs hitbox, not it hits in the back of vipers head as well, dont remember that being common in SF4, but now it happens a lot more often.

anyone here think that vega might actually give viper a hard time now?

his normals was already good vs her in sf4 but he gets rushed down bad.

since vega is buffed and have a reliable anti air, this might be a bad match for viper. lets hope vipers new c.mp and improved hp thunder knuckle keeps him honest.

i think guile might be harder to fight against too, but not as hard as vega. viper can still out turtle guile i think.

I’m not sure about Claw yet. Unless Claw lands a bunch of knockdowns I think it’s mostly going to be the same. Just fish for random shit into a knockdown and dont let him get back up. He’s probably going to own up the mid range game a bit harder but we’ll see what Viper’s improved ground game does for that.

Yeah Viper still just wants to out turtle Guile and then force him to throw booms at bad ranges during mid range so she can LP knuckle under them. Basically get a knockdown at close range and this match is super over as usual.

I thinking like Flash here. Viper’s going to really destroy a lot of people now.

To be honest my only gripe about Viper is I couldn’t play any kind of footsies except for CH/Throw games up close. Now with cr. strong, and maybe cr. fierce (?) this is like heaven now haha.

I’m gonna hold off on the safe jump thread and redo every character in Super and make a thread on it since I’m going to keep playing Viper.

Yeah it’s not even like c.HP was buffed at all. Flash just made me realized that we don’t use c.HP enough. c.HP has been insane all of this time and we just never really realized it. Just use c.HP…seriously. We’re used to thinking about the start up of a move being key to the overall strength of the move but if u just place a move in the right place it can be ridiculous as well. c.HP’s hit box IS HUGE. Seriously the amount of shit u can hit it with and the range u can hit it from is crazy. The visual appearance of the move does no justice to how much priority and range it really has.

Oh and not being able to punish Honda headbutts on block anymore makes me want to punch glass.

thats kinda bad. And yeah the guile matchup is kinda ugly now, maybe using U2 could make him scared of anti air you so you could get free jumps in.

I’ve been thinking about that too with the C HP. I’ve so quick to punish things at range with c mk > mp TK, but really If I used C HP into a ex seismo or feinted it into something or just used TK I would be getting so much more bang for my buck.

I recently saw this video [media=youtube]zC0QGeQXU4A[/media] of momochi playing viper and he punished a lp srk twice in a row with C hp, ex seimo, burn kick, midscreen ultra. That kind of punishment is something I really need to use to put scrubs in their place. I would have never used C hp those two times because I always think it’s too slow or too close ranged to punish a distant whiffed srk but it’s actually deceptively good.

Tested Chun-Li pokes and yeah Viper’s c.Fierce and c.Strong can stuff every one of her good pokes. It’s obviously harder to do with c.Fierce bcs of the 8 frame start up but it’s definitely doable. It’s not something I can do on reaction but that’s part of the footsie game, the ability to put reads on your opponent and punishing them for being predictable.

I remember seeing that video posted as “momochi exhibition”. I was absolutely shocked at how a player could achieve that level of execution with viper while not even maining her. I mean, all those hours he put in training to level up his viper he could have been putting towards his gouki.

Um, how are we supposed to deal with headbutt spam then? Neutral jump? I can only punish it with a back isj.bk guess?

You might be able to just randomly jump back and tag him with U2, I guess.

Yeah c.HP only comes out one frame slower than c.MK so if you could have hit something with c.MK you could have just as easily hit it with c.HP.

About Honda yeah you’ll just have to do what you’ve already been doing before. Jump back normals, neutral jump, neutral or back jump to LK burn kick etc. If you neutral jump and get him to whiff a headbutt under you its free damage. I heard they improved invince on LP headbutt so it’s going to be even harder to jump in on him than before. I mean…I’ll get over it I guess. It’s not like MP knuckle punish scared him to not doing headbutts anymore. Shit did no damage and if he made you block a max range headbutt he could ultra you for trying to punish it. They toned down damage on headbutt so that should help Viper a bit assuming his other normals got slight damage nerfs.

From what I’ve seen Ultra 2 literally has like no hit box for anything other than comboing. The Ultra is literally just a combo ender (which Ultra 1 already was and way more). I don’t know what the devs were saying when they said u could actually use it by itself. U can’t use it to actually beat other attacks. It only works for whiff punishing. Maybe that’s what the devs were talking about. (yeah right LOL). Using it randomly from the air for whiff punishing cuz people definitely do that a lot. Maybe there’s a way to tiger knee from the air to force certain whiffs but I dunno. Yeah it’s lame. I’m gonna actually test it out in training mode but I talked with Flash Metroid and he said the best you’ll get is probably a trade with no real damage done.

I think Ultra 2 was literally a direct answer to the scrubs who had trouble landing Ultra after EX seismo to burn kick. :rolleyes:
