C.Viper changes/alterations

Does MP TK still combo from mp? You guys keep saying it’s slower, but it barely comboed from mp ( i think like 1 frame).Does it combo anymore?

Yeah it still does. If it is slower it’s not by much.

There’s no tweaking of c.MP hit box that I could visually detect. Hit box is the same AFAIK. The only difference is that it recovers quicker now so u can use it more rapid fire for pressure during block strings. Kinda like Alpha 2 Rose but without the huge hit box. If you watch a video of A2 Rose spamming c.MP you’ll get an idea of the speed of c.MP now. Doesn’t come out any faster but she gets to block almost as soon as it comes out now. Kinda funny to see. Gonna make her pressure a bit strong and make it a bit harder for Ryu to c.MK whiff punish her c.MP. You’ll have more time to block inbetween c.MP’s on hit, block or whiff and will be able to be more aggressive with them.

So yeah u know how we complain that Rog is mashing jabs all over the damned place. Well Viper gets to do that now too with her c.MP. Derpy derp c.MP. :lol: Fishing for counter hits all day now. Which improves her footsies immensely. Sad to say it but Viper actually looks like she’s going to have better footsies than Ibuki. Well I’m not really that sad to say it cuz it’s the least us Viper players should get for having to deal with all that crap for a year during footsies. Just sucks for the kunoichi. I messed around with Ibuki’s footsies and they got nerfed hard from 3S. Like I played some Viper just to get some scary footsies back. That’s how sad her’s were and that’s sad considering her ground game was insane in 3S.

I think I remember hitting c.MP after counter hit MP knuckle.

I played some SSFIV Viper yesterday and from what I can tell(Keep in mind everything I say here is IMO from my experience, and not hard data):

BK + frame nerf is real, but not huge, I definitely felt less advantage off setups that I would usually hit s.strong c.strong after for free, and it seemed like there was a little less time to counter hit the opponent

MP TK is slower for sure, not stupid slow, but noticeably slower, I wasn’t playing against mash heavy opponents so I didn’t get interrupted between c.strong xx MP TK, but I’m sure it’s easier now than it was in vanilla

Ultra 2 is not in Ultra 1’s league, Ultra 2 will have to be match up specific. The damage is very weak inside combos, I did FFF into U2 with no jump in and it did I believe 404(which is like 60 damage more than if I just did a burning kick). Also I don’t remember the position it put me in but remember folks that U1 leaves Viper in a HIGHLY advantageous position after landing it, so with less damage and what is probably less setup afterwards it’s use has to be pretty specific. Free FADC’s being easier just exemplifies that point more cause why FFF U2 when you can FFF free FADC U1.

Can’t speak to much else, I’d need more time with it to come up with stronger opinions, but yesterday was prolly a 1 time deal for me until the game actually comes out so I will be waiting.

yea well, the speed boost and health isnt that big a deal.
but the normals needs imporvemnets, im ghoping that the c.mp makes up for all that

IIRC, she could do that before. If done up close, I think I remember landing st.mp, cr.mp>Ultra.

Yeah, it’s easier to hit confirm but I think it has to be done pretty close. I’ll test the range today.

And man, Ibuki having worse footsies than Viper? Seriously? Almost nobody has a worse ground game than Viper, lol. Sorry to hear that DevilJin.

AS only combos into Ultra off of COUNTER HIT roundhouse, and your time to perform the ultra is so tight and stupid you’ll never see it in a match because you can’t hitconfirm it and it just won’t work at all on non-ch.

What is with these completely contradicting posts? One post says HPTK has better invincibility against throws then someone else posts THE EXACT opposite? I mean…wtf?

Yeah and the walk speed ‘changes’, someone needs to just time viper walking forward full screen end to end in training mode or something, and compare it to vanilla.

I just did all but 1 of Viper’s trials in half an hour or so. She has some cool combos with Ultra II. Standing Fierce, Super Jump, Ultra II is sweet. The one I didn’t do was pretty similar to her Hard Trial 3 in Vanilla. It’s her Trial #22 if I remember correctly. it’s harder than in Vanilla because of one critical change. The combo is:

Jump in Roundhouse, Standing Short, Standing Jab, Super Jump, Ultra I

the subtle change from Crouching Jab (In Vanilla) to Standing Jab makes it harder as you can’t start the motion for the Ultra until you’ve already pressed Standing Jab. I did D, DF+Jab, F, D, DF, F, UF+PPP in vanilla but you can’t do it this way for this trial. HPTK is not unchanged, it’s different. Just wait for the data to come out…

you have to do FFF slower in this game or you get EX, that to me confirms what I already thought, that HPTK is different…

Actually, sorry, my bad, Viper can’t combo st.mp>cr.mp from counter hit medium knuckle in regular SF4, was thinking of something else.

EDIT: Trying out st.jab>Ultra in training now, lol. It’s much easier to do it from a far jab rather than up close.

I couldn’t really tell from playing but i talked to Flash and he said that he definitely believes it’s harder to throw her out of HP knuckle at least. It can still be done but the window to do so isn’t completely free like in Vanilla.

hahaha yeah just get that down and most of her trials are the same as SFIV. You can get a Cr.Jab after the standing jab into Ultra for this combo but I didn’t want to cheat it by doing:
Jump in Roundhouse, Standing Short, Standing Jab, Crouching Jab SJC, Ultra I - lmao

The guy who said they changed her trials with EX Seismo & FFF (Hard trial 4+5 in Vanilla) is correct, you can do a mid air BK now as opposed to the tiger knee version you had to do in SFIV. Does anyone know if Crouching Fierce, Feint, crouching MP wiffed on Abel in Vanilla? It wiffed on me twice before in training mode for SSFIV, I can’t test vanilla myself at the moment.
