Srsly, this move is quite useless as it is now. Anybody can punish it with a random special when he sees the startup. Or , you know, they can just jump back/neutral jump and punish it with a big jump in combo. Saying it is safe on block(which it isn’t, jabs punish it and we all know what jabs lead into… Also -5 frames=:lame:) doesn’t mean much, considering that it’s very easy to avoid it and punish the viper for throwing out a stupid lame move.
BTW, since TU is 5 frames on startup, would it be able to punish a blocked EX TK?
Anyways, i agree that they shouldn’t make the move broken like deejay’s dreadkicks, but at least give it a definite use. What’s the point of having a move if it doesn’t serve a purpose? I’ve never had a moment where i was like “Okay, now i use EX TK”.
Anyways i hope this move is USEABLE(not good, just useable)at least in ssf4.
I almost found a use for the move once. Awhile ago, was fighting a friend of mine that uses Chun. I was zoning him pretty good with seismos and feints and he tried to counter by doing a lot of jumping to take away the seismo threat. I remember one match came down to the wire, he had slight life lead and was just dancing around, lot of nj.fk, j.fp out of midrange to wait me out. I just threw an EX TK out as he was jumping, it caught him and put him in what I thought was juggle state so I fp.tk as he came down. Whiffed point blank, he quickstood and smacked me on the recovery.
I mean, fix that shit. Any particular reason they decided not to let Viper follow up with anything after catching someone out of the air…despite they fact that it puts them into juggle state animation? Don’t let ultra juggle, but no reason a simple fp.tk shouldn’t hit for a little 200 damage punish for jumping too much, which makes sense since a lot of players like to jump a lot against Viper to avoid Seismos. So yeah, that fix plus a SLIGHTLY faster startup so you can catch other characters’ random jumps besides floatly Chun, would give the move a niche purpose and fit in nicely with Viper’s gameplan w/o being too good.
I’m not sure what to think. I was hoping that she’d get an ultra with a big horizontal hit box or something like Bison/Balrog/Gen/etc, because she can already land her vanilla ultra after seismos and stuff pretty easily. Need more info.
Actually…after thinking about it a bit…if the startup of her new ultra is anything like a burning kick, and it sounds like it might be, you can probably do an ambiguous crossup ultra or something, which sounds pretty sick.
I’m happy to hear her new ultra will be able to activate from the air, definitely makes for some possibilities. Be interesting to see how it actually functions and whatnot…assuming its any good at all, its possible it could mean that once Viper gets ultra, its free jumpins for the rest of the round or risk Ultra punishing the anti-air attempt.
That pic with Viper and Gief, is that her new outfit? If so, I’m not liking it, maybe I need to see the full picture of it before I judge so prematurely but it’s looking kinda dry.
Haha, just edited my post to link to that pic of her and Gief. I’m not liking the look of it so far, but like I said up there, maybe I need to to see a full pic of it.
