I think blanka is gonna be worse for viper in AE. Knowing that rainbow ball can go backwards seems like it would work well vs BK mixups.
why not just use ex up ball?
you can cross it correctly so that it will whiff viper. then you can just seismo it. So options are usually to either block or just rainbow to get out of mixup situations. Rainbow going both ways it might be possible to threaten her on landing instead of just running away.
Well i went to super arcade the other day and this is what i felt changed, and i used ultra 1, so i didnt even touch u2.
NOTHING.
Everything stayed the same.
CH mp.tk to cr.mp still combos. mp.tk = +3 hit (unchanged)
st.hp > hp.tk fient > cr.hk still combos. So fierce is still same. hp.tk fient = 10 (unchanged)
CH cr.mp > cr.mk / cr.fierce is still a viable combo. cr.mp = +5 on hit (unchanged)
The only thing i cant say is the frame advantage on hit or block on everything else. Because nobody can tell that just by playing one night.
If i do end up figuring out something changes, ill let you guys know.
But as of now, believe that NOTHING changed.
(Except U2, but im not touching that)

Viper is gdlk if you can read what the opponent is doing because the damage payout in most matchups is pretty high. The only issues are the characters that do an extremely good job protecting themselves from getting hit by her like Honda, Blanka, Rog etc. Characters that have special moves with little to no whiff recovery and/or moves that keep them airborne during most of the recovery. She isn’t really designed to win matchups so u just gotta make those reads to do well.
It’s pretty much exactly what Capcom said it was going to be, no point looking for anything else until the very specific frame data gets done so we can confirm if anything got or lost a frame.
As for match ups. By now we should all be use to Viper being a glass cannon. Assume all match ups are not in her favor except for Guile and Sim.

Actually I was just watching some of those AE Honda videos, and the whole time I was thinking “What fucking damage reduction?!”
However much they shaved off, it wasn’t nearly enough to make a difference in the Viper match at all. Then again I’m hoping I’m just blind and these blurry videos are lying.
It’s looking like running into an EX headbutt and then jumping into a j.FP takes only 45% life now instead of 50%. Whoopy doo =p

i hit a viper 3 times with buttslam though the other day… after that i landed one combo into super and she died… 75% combo

I played a bit of AE at cf today, viper is the same. No buffs or nerfs from what I could tell, everything worked as it did in super. How matchups will be effected by the changes for the rest of the cast will take time to figure out.

yup agreed. no changes to viper as far as i know! just that the overall game speed is a tad slower. so gotta adjust all our fffs and sjcs and whatnot.

Don’t think the game ran slower. There was just usually slightly less input lag on the arcade setup compared to people’s home setups. Slower links = less input lag. I feel the same effect going from PS3 to 360. FFF timing is slightly different.

I got the real buffs for viper for AE from a reliable source, this is what he said.
-She now has a 2 frame jab
-Her EX seismo hits the whole screen
-Strong TK does 800 stun
-Her BK is now unblockable
-She can FFFF now.
