How do you guys link c.lp to c.mp? Plinking or double tapping? Which is better/easier?
Plinking is easier.
plinking is more consistent than double tapping for sure
I plink it.
I love how ryu’s cr. mp is like super easy to link to, as if shotos weren’t already handed awesome hitboxes and combos.
guiles cr.lp, cr.mp is definitely easier in this game. in training, i just hit 25 bnbs in a row with 100% accuracy. even if it is still 1 frame, they’ve done something to it to make it easier. don’t ask me what that is though.
thx guys. plinking it is.
How do yall get it to c.lp > c.mp instead of linking jabs, consistently.
You have to figure out the plink timing for that not to happen. The quickest way for me is to position your hand so that the buttons are pressed the required split second after one another without you trying to do so.
Finding the right hand placement takes a short time and getting used to the new position is quick as it’s generally very very close to where your hand was before.
This has improved not only my plink but generally my button mashing execution
Now, if your hands are shaped a bit odd (index finger longer or same as middle, for example) this might not work very well.
What you can also do is pay attention to the cr.lp animation. Wait for the cr.lp to start retracting and then hit the mp button. Practice that enough times to get it into muscle memory and you’re set. It’s not plinking nor is it double tapping. Just simple exact execution.
Really, there’s no reason NOT to plink. It’s a 1 frame window - you can either not plink and have to hit that 1 frame window, or you could plink and get a 2 frame window.
Double tapping is useless for normals. It’s like trying to thread a needle by holding two pieces of thread - you’re trying to hit a 1 frame window and you get two inputs that are something like 10 frames apart.
I c. Thats what I have been relying on all the time. Just simple execution. But if there is an easier way, why not, right? So basically, I just do the same c.lp > c. mp , like always, but just do lp+mp, for the second input, to make it 2 frames?
Thanks.
lp+mp usually means together, at the same time which is not what you wanna do. The notation, at least on these boards, for plinking is mp~lp, which means mp then immediately lp. You know like when sometimes you’re tapping your fingers on the desk? Like a two finger piano motion? That’s what you wanna do.
Yea, but maybe even faster than you think. Turn on input display in training mode and keep practicing. If you do it correctly, you should see two separate lines of inputs show up:
mp+lp
mp
It’s almost simultaneous except you position the middle finger (for medium punch) slightly lower.
Pardon my ignorance but what is plinking? I’m trying figure the best way to do c.lp > c.mp after I hit a focus attack instead of just dashing in then throw
I’ve never been able to do c.LP > c.MP > FK/SB/whatever, so I just stick with doing c.LP x3 > Flash Kick. It’s easier and I can abort it in an instant if I don’t feel the link is strong enough.
lol c.LP and c.MP still have the same startup. It being easier for you is prolly just the placebo effect.
@Larry Flynt: http://shoryuken.com/showthread.php?t=186686 Also after an FA I think b.HK, c.MP xx HP SB does more damage. No knockdown, but it’s also much easier to charge for the special imho.
In SF4 I just kept drilling the c.LP, c.MP link without plinking it. To anybody who has trouble, try doing that until you get a good feel for it, and then start plinking.
I get that and sometimes another jab comes out instead of strong. haha.
I don’t understand the context for you using placebo, but it’s just easier to repeatedly hit the same button then switch in time to hit a different button and have it link properly. I’m not really too worried about it honestly. I’m pretty good with connecting the jabs into a Sonic Boom or Flash Kick, so I just stick with that. Even if I try the c.MP and it doesn’t link, I can still use the string as pressure regardless, so it works either way for me.
Hmm… I thought they get rid of c.lp X 3 into fireball, scissor kick, or FK, etc… in the game (at least in SF4 I think). In order to combo a special move from more than one hit of normal move, it needs to be a link combo. Apparently they put those non-link combos back into the game now (at least for Guile’s c.lp X 3 > SB).
no, it still has to be a link, and c.lp -> c.lp is a 1 frame link.
