"By the hoary hosts of Hoggoth!" The Doctor Strange Thread!

Maybe air palm, teleport down, super jump palm, repeat? Probably not but there’s gotta be something. Training mode is required.

that’s some ghetto ROM shit all over again. haha. that would be crazy if it works. now I -REALLY- wanna know if corner Swords loop works since I’m getting Vanilla Mags vibes from Strange’s combo potential. imagine wallcarry air Palm xx teleport loop into corner Swords loop-- AND you get a free mixup after that with Eye of Agamotto stuff or offscreen Daggers. bananas.

Also, slightly related, a quick note about Launching TK teleport cancel stuff.

I* thiiiink* super jump canceled stuff off launchers are gonna be 20x easier because of the new “hold S to super jump” feature. This could mean you can hold S and input a special move without TK’ing and it will work. Hopefully. So the theory swag combos could be easier than it looks.

My body is so ready.

let’s see how many people get pissed off with start of round throw option select Impact Palm. lol. I’m thinking:

forward throw (putting the opponent near the corner), wait, L Daggers (or throw then M Daggers without waiting), then crossup teleport for a self-created left-right mixup with minimal scaling. if you can get a crumple there with Impact Palm, you can just teleport to the other side, thereby keeping your opponent in the corner and setting him up for a combo leading into, say, offscreen Daggers mixup-- all because your opponent wasn’t mashing hard enough at the start of the round.

all theory fighter at this point, though. so ready to hit training mode with this guy.

teleport back up for extra swag points is a must tbh

The people making the guide pointed out that it wouldn’t be a week early.

GameStop told me they would have it on the 9th when I pre ordered it, so I dunno. I’ll find out soon enough.

They will probably get it in the store on the 9th then get a street date of the 15th thats what happened when vanilla was released. The thing is most stores will sell a guide despite what the street date says because they dont get into the same trouble over a guide as they would selling the actual game.

all the new characters look good but TBH I think Strange is gonna be top tier in this game. There’s just no way around it. His trap mix ups + assist + the best teleports in the game are gonna make him obsurdly powerful. People have been talkin since the start of mvc3 that a normal phoenix with no dark phoenix resurrection and 800k health would be crazy good and fun to play. Well this is that character but even better.

Im so hype for this Doctoorrr, how do you guys think he’ll work as an Anchor? Will he need assists to be really effective? Im thinking Dante/Vergil/Strange but not to sure. Might switch Strange/Vergil around idk. He seems beast in xf3 though, quick cube setups > instant teleports = win…good super thatll always come out too.

@Fox: Yea he looks crazy, I just hope he won’t have the Dorm factor as in that we thought we could use all of his specials/dark magic/walls but it didn’t turn out that way, if all his setups & specials are usable and not to slow or risky we have a winnerrr.

He basically has his own assists and with XF they’ll become faster (discs, agomotto) so you’ll be able to set up your own best friends mix ups easily enough and get past through advance guards. I see it working. Especially since his assists are all great also.

speaking of OS’s the command for his Illusion is b.H right? if so then you’d either get his illusion to counter an opponents attack or a back throw at close range. Illusion leads to mixup/combo and throw leads to SoV and if you wanna make someone piss themselves XFC up tele and air combo into another otg SoV

drool

The air combo off of an OTG SOV into X-factor would have to be awkward, as you wouldn’t knock them back to the ground with S.

If that works… well fuck.

Edit: you can still otg with L daggers, afaik.

Damn it. Why did somebody say that?

Boo. Discovered some of my plains for a OS for Strange.

Impact Palm + Eye of Agomotto isn’t looking so good.

since loses hits the longer it travels.

From farther ranges it’ll probably be better for pushing people into grapes so you can get better positioning to set up grape combo/trap. Discs will probably be best for quick combo damage off projectile (teleport right before it hits them).

this game’s throw system creates so many shenanigans it’s not even funny, probably more of an annoyance than X-factor overall considering that happens once per match whereas you can get OS air thrown all day long lol

speaking of which I hope Capcom doesn’t take out Doom’s Crossover Counter back throw glitch with Hidden Missles, it was one of my favorite “wtf?!” strategies in Vanilla D:

I should totally know this, but its easier to ask than to research, does illusion work in the air?
