LOL and here I was expecting people to talk about possible Strange-Vergil synergy. I’m definitely running Strange/Vergil/Doom when the game drops. mixups and long combos for DAYS. who needs OTG assists when these guys are all self-OTG capable?
Having an OTG is too important in this game so I’m glad all my characters are self OTG capable. A lot of the characters that weren’t self OTG capable before are getting one in UMVC3 any way. Dante and Doom literally troll people that can’t OTG by being able to self OTG 8 times LOL.
With my cool new guys team I’d rather make use of Strange’s assists since they all sound good unless Vergil seems to have one rape assist. Strange’s spell of vishanti super sounds like it’d be solid as a DHC ender since it pops them all high up in the air any way. Vergil seems like he’ll be just as good for meter building as he is for spending meter so I’m fine having him go first as point/battery for Strange second. I’m sure Strange’s discs or bolts assists will complement Vergil’s teleport game well. I hear a lot of hype about Strider’s teleport kick assist that tracks so I’ll definitely have him in the back running that. Level 3 XF + Level 3 Ouro sounds like it’ll make people rage.
Eye of Agamotto seems the best to me though. at least in a team with Doom as anchor and plasma beam assist, Agamotto would be ideal for lockdown and mixups in the corner. I don’t find much merit using Bolts or Discs-- Bolts is too high off the ground making it useless against small characters (Strider lol), and Discs seems pretty meh for left-right shenanigans and OTGing. Plasma Beam is still way better.
Well with your team you’d be running Strange first any way so you’d be less reliant on his assists to begin with. Even on my team though Strider will be the main assist. Discs assist I’m sure still won’t be bad for pressure since I assume it will also track the opponent. Although some characters can duck under bolts the general area of space it controls is pretty large so it could be a solid compliment to whatever teleport kick assist doesn’t already do.
Disc assist does track, but pretty quickly. it’s like a faster multi-lock, and I assume you could do the same offscreen disc shenanigans Strange can do on point while in the corner.
Yea the Vergil Hype train is stealing some of Stephens momentum. Thats fine by me I want everyone to keep overlooking the good Dr and leave him all to me… Us… I meant us…

And IMO he looks like the best out of all the new characters, just doesn’t appeal to a lot of people (me included)
But he honestly frightens me. Looks Wolverine with more mobility
Adam Sessler is still Firebrand’s biggest fan ATM. We’ll see when the game comes out.
This. This is why I think all but a handful of the enlightened are going to sleep on this character. He looks terrifyingly good… in the right hands.
Also, I think the Strange disscussion mostly stopped because people learned what they needed to about Strange to take the rest into their own hands. We’ll have to wait til the game is out before he becomes disscussable again. But we’ve pretty much gone as far as possibly on just gameplay footage and speculation.

lol… yeah, beam seems to suit everyone, especially crossup teleporters.
ill go out on a limb and say that every good assist that is useable in umvc3 will be useable for strange.
i mean i know that some assists have been nerfed in ultimate… i really cant see how strange COULDNT use a haggar/tron assist or a drones assist a hidden missiles etc etc
basically the assists in mvc3 are universally good it seems… sure some characters make better use than others but any top tier assist can be used for good stuff no matter what point character is using it… in a manner of speaking.
to really know what top tier assists strange will work best with though will take us knowing well what his strengths and weaknesses are and whether to pick assists to shore up his weaknesses or to bolster his strengths…

off the top of my head, AA or high-priority assists to help get opponents off you will definitely help with grace setups.

Akuma still comes out fast and Haggar still has his invincibility. they’re not completely gone per se, just toned down in the herp derp department. 'sides, we have have 4 more reveals and we still don’t know all of Vergil and Fist’s assists/moves. hopefully one of them’s an AAA lol.
