yeah, but the fact that not everyone will play Hulk is the problem. people could probably run him in the back as the assist/point character that will never get used a la Psylocke, but me playing Hulk is like Megaman being included in MvC3-- it’ll never happen.
As a Hulk player myself, though this is arguably true given the assist’s armor, Hulk as a character is at a rather large disadvantage when lacking assists for pressure/mixups. He’s one of those characters that just needs help, poor green giant. While his AAA is damn sexy, in my [humble, limited, etc.] experience, it won’t necessarily warrant him a non-point slot on most teams.
However, universal XF will give him a much-needed speed boost. That could certainly change my opinion.
Vergil has his Judgement Cut (light), rapid slash, and his 3rd is his rising sun uppercut (lolAA)
It remains to be seen how his sword storm affects his assists if he is tagged out while it’s active. I’m assuming his Devil Trigger will remain active while he’s out, and his DT makes his special moves a whole lot better so I can foresee people DHCing his Devil Trigger mid combo into their real point character.
If his rapid slash has good priority, it’ll be really, really damn solid.
Team order is still up in the air until I can actually get some lab time with them. From what I’ve seen though, Vergil will be going last right behind our boy Stephen if he has a good enough assist.
I have a feeling though, that I’ll be able to freely change order and put Stephen on point with Magnus second.
Real talk, I’m going to midnight release Nov 8(?) and picking up the new version of the bible, that way I’ll have a full week to play theory fighter until I can get hands on.
I’m thinking Strange could work well as an anchor. Even if his assists aren’t all that great, I think he has a few distinguishing factors that could make him good without assists. Kinda like Spencer, his assists are nothing special minus a few set ups with his grapple, but just works as an anchor for whatever reason. Another similarity between them is that Strange doesn’t have to worry about random beams. I bet he could even go 7 Rings->X-factor->Spell of Vishanti. Other things like the fact that he can set up his own teleport beam mix-ups help with that too.
That being said, all of his assists, especially Eye, look like they have their uses so I don’t think that’s even an issue.
in the newest of the enew videos (Vergil vs. Strange, fight 4 here) you see that you can punish just about ANY whiff with Spell, on reaction. … altho I guess that makes sense
Yeah the fact that spell homes and activates that fast is ridiculous. If it works exactly the same as Doom’s sphere flame it’s basically a cheaper version of sphere flame.
Doom’s sphere flame is 8 frame start up but it doesn’t track. What makes it crazy though is that every single hit gets a damage boost in XF so level 3 XF sphere flame can do 800+k by itself even though it’s a level 3. Sphere flame XF3 activate Sphere Flame kills Thor from full health by like 130 percent.
A super that good shouldn’t do a ton of damage any way. It looks like it’ll hit you no matter what you’re doing. The utility it will have will definitely be enough.
see guys what’d I tell ya? dr. stephen swag’s got combos.
edit: what the hell, is his discs assist the L one or the M? in the TGS videos keits posted on the front page, it shows Strange sending out three rings as an assist, which contradicts the gamescom videos (which listed the discs assist in the char select screen as ‘Light Magic L’). do we have it backwards or something? wtf lol
I’ve heard other people say it’s the 3 ring M assist also. Considering that his other 2 assists are pretty buff it would be strange (pun not intended) that he randomly gets an assist that’s simply one little homing ring. Definitely must have been a typo in the article. Characters like Strange usually have pretty buff assists.
