"By the hoary hosts of Hoggoth!" The Doctor Strange Thread!

^^^ would be kind of cool if he went into a crumple state after whiffing his lvl 3

Hmm, well when DR strange gets in the hand of the pros, we’ll see what tricks he has

And being the premier we havent seen what hes capable yet, the people using him on the stream, could just be average people goin “Hey comic book characters cool” and messing around

Wesker doesn’t have an air dash and look what happened to him. No air dash on Wolverine either unfortunately.

well one guy said he saw strange air dash back shrug

I mean he’s a flight based character. There’s like one flight based character in the game that doesn’t have an air dash so he probably does. It’s just it wouldn’t be totally out of place IMO to not have one either. Time will tell I guess.

them fast as hell teleports means he’s going to have mixup. and mobility regardless , I think it will be weird seeing him float there but not air dash

True but Weskers teleport isn’t tracking so his movement is a little less obvious. Plus it doesn’t seem Strange has a projectile he can teleport off of either lol.

no but he could start bouncing them about or use that slow one that tracks

things could get nasty

Strange’s projectiles are so fast and he can put up Blazblue style trap projectiles that he can always teleport during after.

Wesker’s ports are always obvious without an assist really IMO. Wesker doesn’t track you when he teleports and considering the ground ports he could do the ground one or the air one but neither one is really good without an assist. The main reason being that both L and H ground teleports throw you the exact same direction forward. Once Wesker ports you should already know where he’s going to be because he can’t purposely decide to teleport behind you. In order for him to properly teleport behind you without going so far behind you that it does nothing for him, he has to be in a specific spot on the screen that you can easily learn by playing Wesker yourself for a while. There’s like one specific spot on the screen where Wesker can port and it’s hard to tell if he’s going to be in front or behind you. If the opponent moves forward or backwards at all while you’re in that spot it messes things up.

Outside of that ONE SPOT it’s clearly obvious if he’s going to be in front or behind you once he ports. Which means any teleport or gun based ground teleport without an assist is easy to read and air throw punish or dash through to escape. If you know he’s going for the ground teleport and no assist was called he can be c.L punished and if you know he’s going for the H overhead one it’s not as fast as Dante’s so you can definitely reaction air throw punish. You can also just simply dash under Wesker since the port doesn’t actually track where you move. It’s just a really fast Akuma teleport without the invincibility. If you feel he’s going for it just dash forward and you’ll sail under the port.

The gun to port is only really for stopping aerial movement. Most of the cast can crouch under the gun and a lot of characters can wave dash under it. Wolverine is so small he doesn’t even need to crouch to get under the gun. Which is why he can really tear through Wesker unless Wesker has a strong protection assist.

Just like with Wesker any player that plays Doctor Strange with actual smarts will mostly be covering their ports with assists. Doctor Strange’s ports look like they have faster recovery than maybe even Deadpool’s (which recover faster than anybody else’s) but to be on the safe side just like any character he’ll want to have at least some rings or a projectile assist or something to create a mix up and keep the port safe. Random ass teleport/gun porting works in laggy connections but offline it’s really easy to blow up unassisted teleports from Wesker specfically since the L and H ports have 20 frames of recovery.

in all the videos ive seen it seemed that when strange bounced his fireball, it tracked to where the opponent was… but i only saw it done from 2 and 3 bounces… im wondering if it does it from one bounce as well cause that might be really good.

-dime

Don’t get me wrong im not trying to prove he is shit or anything. He seems to have way too many tools to be bad even with the very little footage we see. I hope he is as OP/top tier as people are already screaming about. Im just trying to find some weaknesses outside of HP. I like to evaluate weaknesses before strengths for some odd reason. Makes it easy for me to choose a character. Like Viper and Dante lol.

Never saw a zero prism or one prism shot…

That and I think each bounce powers it up. Before one bounce it just ended on hit. Between 1 and 2 it hit and passed through, and after 3 its the laser (all yellow blessings if I remember). It would be interesting to see properties after 2 bounces as well.

His weaknesses won’t be as apparent till people play him in person or we get frame data and shit like that. From a video you can only see very basic shit.

I’m going to use Bolts of Ballsack assist behind Swagnus… I wonder if the length of blockstun allows them to be thrown between the beams.

It would be an interesting twist if his flight was limited, or he couldn’t wavedash, etc. Would require more strategy and less speed dashing all over the stage. I think I’d like that.

He looks like he’s doing gang signs in that cover.

Hey guys. I did a write up on what I’ve noticed so far as well - I’d normally just copy it all here, but there’s too damned much text.
It’s on crosscounter.tv

Seriously though, I do like a lot of the discussion here - such as the debate over if Spell of the Vishanti is tracking or Elemental Rage, it was one thing i hadnt even thought of.

That would be awful. It’s stupid that not all characters can wavedash already.

off to NYC Fight Club tomorrow, should have some useful info / video =) hopefully

    • assuming that they have the latest build playable, which they should given it was playable at Gamescom…heres to hope

only question i have is whether or not he has 8way
