I set mine up as follows:
(throw) (BP) (FP) (stance)
(block) (BK) (FK) (tag)
I set mine up as follows:
(throw) (BP) (FP) (stance)
(block) (BK) (FK) (tag)
Yup, that’s mine too.
Bp bk bl st
fp fk tg
I run:
FP BP BK FL
FK TG THW BLK
I’m used to it from Marvel and can swap between a stick and a pad fairly easily. I play at friend’s houses often and don’t want to haul my stick over there, so I’ve just gotten used to the Type B controls for most fighter games on a stick.
For some ungodly reason my preferred mapping is not holding on the 2nd player stick in co-op tag. I attempt to set it to…
FP TAG BP
FK BLK BK and it resets to the default. What’s the trick, I’ve tried saving the configuration in all the various option menes, to no avail!
Second player has to be logged in with a profile to any saved configs, which have to be set for that profile. At least on the 360. Otherwise P2 is always default from my experience.
I’ve settled on this setup for my TE and HRAP3 too. It feels most like old MK arcade but also with the new adjustment of having the Punches on the top row. I have the Throw and Tag buttons mapped to the last 2 button but I don’t use it.
I throw by manually pressing FP + FK. It’s not a problem for me since its the same placement for SF4.
I actually decided to have SW the same place to make it easier to access X-ray when needed. It’s awkward to press FK + Blk + BK at the same time in this setup.
It’s been a while since I could actually play MK since my PS3 is in for repairs, but Ive got a 6 button joystick with the astro city layout, and an 8 button one with a weird custom layout that I made back before I knew what I was doing. On the 6 button, I was originally doing
FP TG FK
FK BL BK
This worked out fine for pulling off X-rays, however EX moves were a pain because I had to claw. I am thinking that if I switch the Tag and Block buttons like many have done though, it could be very nice. I would have to get used to the way X-rays work, but it would be a lot more comfortable and natural. I also think
TG FP BP
BL FK BP
sounds like it could be very promising since I could rest my thumb on block like in Soul Calibur, however once again, I do worry about some claw action going on when I try to do EX kick moves and X-rays.
TE Fightstick users would not be in this rut if Netherrealm would just let players map multiple buttons to the same action. I twittered Ed Boon about it today about this, and I suggest anyone else who wants the feature does the same. This setup would be godly:
FP BL BP
TG FK BL BK
That would be pretty similar to how my Mame cabinet is set up for the MK games (except with the run button instead of tagging, and the way the whole high and low vs. front and back thing), and it works brilliantly. Having 2 block buttons plays like a dream on a 6 button layout, and I’m sure we’d see a lot more MK players making the switch to sticks if NR allowed it. Maybe if we keep nagging they’ll give us what we want.
Am I the only loser who thinks FP and FK should be on the right? I mean right=front … right? For me anyway.
So my set-up is:
BP FP TH TG
BK FK BL
This is what I’ve been using since day one and I’ve learned all my combos on this set-up so changing it now would be sucky.
LK MK LP HP
Bk stance
felt awkward at first still does but getting use to it
This is what I’m using on my Hori EX2.
