Button Mapping for Madcatz SE and TE fightsticks

Our Fight Club got it early and have been using this configuration since it is most like the arcade and the MK TE that is coming out:

FP Blk FK
BP tag BK

Most special moves and normals resemble UMK3 this way. Even the players who did not play the arcade games caught onto this pretty quickly.

This makes the most sense to me as I also like having the block button near my thumb and it makes even more sense now that I know the non-macro version of throws, x-rays, and tags.

One function that makes me sad that I couldn’t do is map multiple buttons to the same command. I personally would’ve wanted two block buttons on both right triggers so I can have block handy at all times on my stick. I wonder if there is a request thread for future patches I can go to?

I’m totally wondering how the X button config was “ergonomic” considering people hold down block.

Only thing is I think the index finger instead of the thumb might be more natural and easier to hit the bottom row with the other fingers.

Thinking of going with:

NFUN FP BP NFUN
BLK FK BK NFUN

So the non macro inputs are as follows correct?

FP+FK = Throw
BLK+FK+BK = X-Ray
FP+BP = Tag
FK+BK = Switch Stance

Someone please correct me if I’m wrong.

TAG FP BP
BLK FK BK

Looks legit.

Anyone notice you can’t unmap a button? Or is there some special way im just not getting?

Yeah i wish you could unmap a button. oh well =T. As far as the layout goes though, i’m have a hard time playing all the various layouts on my TE. just feels unnatural with the viewlix layout no matter how I arrange it.

The Hori Layout on my T6 is wierd too, same with the striaght 6 from the SFAEs. BUT. the agetec (Sega 2 layout i believe) feels PERFECT with the layout below

TAG FP BP
BLK FK BK

You’d need to mod your stick to work on your system of course. I’ll probably stick with this stick for MK. Might build some klassik Xbutton layouts with happ parts this weekend to try it out.

Fp bp tag
fk bk blk

I’m REALLY hoping they add this as a feature in a patch, seeing as how my stick (AIAB stick) doesn’t seem to work with games where you can’t unmap certain buttons.

I’m having the same issue. Trying to arrange a place where Block/Tag make it easy for me to X-Ray or EX without busting out some T-Rex Claw stuff is hard.

Might be the only game I buy a 360 pad for. I played yesterday on Default PS3 Layout/Pad at Gamestop and it felt a lot better. Mind you I’m normally play on Stick.

I just wish they allowed the use of two Block buttons. I tweeted Boon and crew about this to no end but in the end, nothing happened.

My planned layout was going to be:

FP :: Block :: BP
FK :: Block :: BK

Would’ve allowed easy EX use, X-ray with the bottom 3, and tag/throw with the left and right column of buttons.

But alas. :frowning:

Oh, wack. I was considering 2 block buttons in the center too.

MK would be a pretty good game for a hitbox. I hear they are banned though because you can use them to block both directions at once.

i LOLed.

I’m using:

FP|BLK|BP|SS
FK|TAG|BK|THW

The far right buttons are disposable, but since they can’t be unmapped, that’s what they’re set to.

So regardless of what I mentioned in my previous post, a friend of mine told me the layout he has been using and it makes sense. Better than what I was attempting to play on.

FP BLK BP
FK SW BK

First Row of Buttons= Throw
Second Row of Buttons= X-Ray
Third Row of Buttons= Tag

It depends on the game. I haven’t seen any tests with a hitbox on MK yet. I know in SSF4 you can’t block both directions, but in MvC3 you can.

Anyways, my layout is this:

FP-TAG-BP
FK-BLK-BK

Mostly for X-Ray usage. Works out well for me so far, but EX moves with punch buttons are awkward.

I’ve settled on:

bp bk
fp fk

That’s leaves crouching normals in the same position as the original mks and only the leg sweep on the wrong button(normally it would be back and low kick). For some reason, I can deal with specials being different buttons, but can’t with normals.

this is my setup and so far for me it works fine and i like it. can block comfortably and do moves and throws when i need to.

FP Throw FK Tag
BP BLK BK SC

Can someone confirm that this is the final button layout on the PDP stick for 360?

X Y
  RT
A B

I’m getting frustrated trying to get a decent button config that best simulates the old MKs. I decided I’m just going to set it up how they designed it and use the default and get used to the new layout.

I believe with this button layout they set it up to work as

FP BP
    BL
FK BK

This is still a little funky, but basically something has to feel “wrong” no matter how you set it up.

thats similar to mine.

I have the two punch buttons on top left
two kicks on bottom left
Block right next to punch buttons
and I dont use any other buttons so I dont care about them
