Haha it’s cool, my brother is playing. It’s his account lol. I’ll message you on Steam when I’m on for some games.
Just got my demo code from Gamestop and I’m DLing it now (at 40%). I should be on later tonight. Luckily, my Beowulf paper due date was pushed to Monday instead of tomorrow. :woot:

if you looking for me.
i played this morning and holy shit the atmosphere is fuckin crazy, makes me really feel like i need to survive a zombie infestation, and the random swarms sound crazy when you got a good soundcard and headphones.
It is possible to use the server browser.
Enable the developer console in the options, press the " ` " key, and type in openserverbrowser.
Is the demo only for those who preordered?
Yes.
For everyone else, you can get it on the 11th.
i’m downloading the demo right now, i had to put down Fallout 3 (which i’m 46 hours in) otherwise it’d continue to screw with my sleep cycle.
theres 2 srk groups on steam, any of those worth joining?

Well, I have just had the unique pleasure of being vomited on, yanked half way across a room by a tongue, rescued, then shooting at anything that moved -half blind from the vomit- until someone could come and revive me.
That said I really hope that they fix whatever the hell the matchmaking is based on. Games are far more difficult to join than they have any right to be and the lack of being able to choose server or actually really check pings makes things a crapshoot at best, at least from my experience. I havent been able to play many games thanks to not being able to connect at all or randomly dropping out so maybe there is something I am missing.

Hows the mp.
When it works, fantastic. Feels a bit chaotic with the fast pace and hordes of zombies and it is real easy to shoot a teammate when you are tying to cover them or they step in front of you but that isn’t that big of a deal on the lower difficulty settings. Thanks mainly to the hordes of zombies it naturally gravitates to team based play with the guy who goes blazing on ahead typically turning his heels and running back to the relative safety of the group before long. Healing and reviving takes a bit of time as well further encouraging everyone to stay together. Then there are the “special” zombie attacks and things like being pinned that more or less require a team mate to help out which just cements the whole “stick together” rule.
Only played a handful of matches so I am sure there is plenty I am missing.
Isn’t this something that plagues a number of Valve/Steam games? It’s not just L4D. Maybe it’s just my comp/connection but I always have problems connecting to games. Whether it be Gmod, CS:S, HL2, whathaveyou, the amount of servers that require you to download a bunch of shit to play don’t help either. It baffles me how there are no CUSTOM and NORMAL/BARE BONES server tabs.
Also, if you have a preorder code or w/e from gamestop, how do you make it work with steam? I keep hitting the install demo button but nothing happens. Is pre-buying via steam the only way to get the PC demo?
this game is a lot of fun besides the connection issues and what not. The highlight for me so far was when I got taken out early, and my 3 team members were fighting off a huge horde of enemies. two of them get knocked down, and as the final guy goes to revive them a smoker grabs him. We all had to watch our last life line suffocate to death… Too good
Does the game seem to have lasting appeal?
It’s not that the match-making wouldn’t work, it’s just buggy as hell. There are no filters for basic things and ping isn’t at all taken into consideration. If it’s like this in the finale version, they are going to be in a world of ridicule.
With that said, I’ve mainly been doing LAN - which works exceptionally well.
The game is incredibly fun on expert mode with a good team.
Got the demo, so damn FUN.
I see they released a patch that fixes some of the matchmaking issues or something, anyone notice any difference?
be honest here, will this get boring eventually?
I’m having fun with the demo, can’t really say right now if the full game would get repetitive. I guess a lot of it depends on how much support the game gets post release. One thing’s for sure, this isn’t Dead Rising, I got bored of that game on the demo alone.
L4D is very fast paced and has a great atmosphere. The sound effects are really good, Zombies look great. I think the whole random zombie encounter system is great, and should make for some crazy online/co-op gaming sessions. All things considered, I’m sure this will be a better buy than fallout 3 or something. Now back to playing that demo!
for coop play? I think so, even if they keep releasing map after map. It depends on the content they release later, like different creatures , maps or whatever.
Let’s see how the versus mode holds up. It looks more interesting.

DLing the demo right now, I’m at 20%.
Anyone who wants to play later tonight is more than welcome to hop onto my TeamSpeak Server.
