Busted or Bust, lets bet on who/what ends up being broke

I find Nemesis to be a huge problem. Think about it, all his normals have super armor, and one of his hypers has a full dose of it, making it impossible to hit him out of it (but he still takes damage thank god). Also to top it off one combo and you’re basically close to death or dead in that matter. I don’t know much of the other characters but for me Nemesis is definitely on characters to watch out for list.

Why is that? He has no airdash, no baby kicks overhead, no analyze cubes, probably won’t have a cool combos. And he isn’t MODOK.

They both are momentum based and can be played keepaway, but I doubt that Wright will be as good at rushdown as MODOK. They both have a shield and awkward normals, but MODOK’s shield is an assist.

You’re essential saying that Wright does everything MODOK does better, which is what would make MODOK obsolete, and that just is not true.

I think that you guys are leaving Arthur out. With three lances comming out even faster, he can cover the screen like a PRO.

(I’ll laugh so hard if Rocket Raccoon plays nothing like Cable ultimately.)

Yeah, I’m not exactly sure how to feel about Spider-man’s changes. He was already mediocre and he probably got the most mixed bag of changes of anyone to the point he arguably got changed more than Iron Man. That the main/best/most well-known Spider-man user doesn’t even want to touch him anymore is rather discouraging…

…I’m not really sure why Viewtful Joe would be affected by either nerf to air dashes when a)he doesn’t have an 8-way air dash and b)he was always attacking out of his dashes anyway. The fact that he can IAD Voomerang, IAD j. :s: pretty damn low to the ground and do Six Machine, which has invincibility on it and is pretty damn fast, in the air makes me think it won’t really affect him at all.

What will probablyy affect him more, though, is that, like Shuma (and Jill), he didn’t really get anything outside of that Dodge, though considering the ridiculous invincibility that Mach Speed has, it getting a damage boost via mashing is pretty nice. There’s also the “small” problem of him having abysmal range in a game that’s going to have more emphasis on zoning, meaning it’s going to be even more difficult to for him to touch people than it already was. Still not having a self-OTG kinda hurts too, though with some characters getting that OTG moves sped-up (X-23 and Arthur at least) and at least a couple of the new characters (Hawkeye and…Ghost Rider & PW?) having OTG moves, he has a more viable selection than just Wesker or Deadpool in that area now. (Because, really, every other OTG assist was either a)too slow, b)attached to a dubious character or c)not as good other assists they had, and this is coming from someone who regularly uses Dormammu’s Purification assist to OTG.)

Still, he can actually get in and has a distance game unlike Chunners, was at least decent before (if not as good as Jill potentially is), is still only one of two characters in the entire game that can slow you (and the only who can do it for more than the standard duration) and didn’t lose anything like some people, so I think he’ll be fine. He’ll just…continue to not be impressive and/or well-used/widely used by most people for at least a while.

…Which reminds me that I need to start trying to learn him as well.

Three lances still lose to teleporters if he doesn’t have an assist out or :b:+:h: out. Hell, three lances still lose to Strange just standing there (or doing anything he can super cancel) with meter.

If (so many) teleporters weren’t in the game, then, yeah, Arthur would probably be broken or at least extremely good even without dashing. As it now, he’ll be better, but hardly busted.

The Sodium is strong with this one.

If this is about Wright’s shield being “better” than MODOK’s shield, consider that Wright only has access to that thing once every 6 secs.

I’m really worried about iron fist

he don’t think he will get in at all and pushblock might ruin his offence without assists

sure his damage is high , but I just don’t see it

That’s why we have assists.

Really. Just because a character isn’t a good anchor doesn’t mean they aren’t a good character.

IF has the She-Hulk syndrome.

tbh I’m not worried about him I just can’t see how he’s going to a) get in and b) stay in

what can he do to people who stay in the air ?

honest question

Only something that everyone in the community has thought of at one point or another.

Zero is going to be (He already is) one of the most BS chars in the game.

Nova looks like he has really good tools, Fast Overheads, full screen OTGs, probably wont be broken but seems like a very solid character

Don’t worry about it too much, IF be able to get in and do his damage. He just needs assists just like Jill or She-Hulk. Of course he doesn’t have a slide-like move, but that dash he has looks like a lovely replacement. Just be prepared to jump and block at a lot of projectiles this time around.

Trish runaway is going to be a bad match-up to most of the new cast we have so far (except Strange and Strider, MAYBE Vergil and Nova).

The only thing I’m worried for him is hit-confirming hits from the ground to air-born opponents. That st.:s: range is not helping at all.

Playing Tron on point is really fun. I’m saddened she might not be as fun to play anymore coming into UMVC3.

I really want to see more people use Iron Fist, I have hardly seen any footage of people giving him a shot band that makes me sad because the dude just plain looks hype as hell.
Activates level 3 “The power of chi!” Smash! Iron Fist gets in to position for the finisher. “HOOOAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH!!!” EPIC ONE INCH PUNCH! "HOOOOOOOOHHHHHHH!!!"
I mean seriously, how can you resist that!?

As for his approach game being seen as weak by the community at this point so that assists are going to be a necessity for getting him in, all characters in this game require assists to become truly effective, it’s all about what one benefits the character the most and when you have to use them, so it’s not like he’s the only one that will need assists in this game, in vanilla even the godliest of characters like Wolverine only has his true power unlocked when you pair him up with a combo extending assist like Akuma’s tatsu. Iron Fist clearly does enough damage on his assist free bread & butter combos to make it so that any assists to Iron Fist that aren’t tools to help him get in are pretty much unnecessary for him and he will give the player more than enough of an award if he willing to put in the effort to get Fist in.
And hey, Iron fist isn’t ‘that’ bad at getting in, have you seen how fast his wave dash is?!

we shall see but imo I don’t think he looks good

I like iron fist so I hope I’m wrong

We’re gonna be up to our tits in Marn players for like three months. Mark my words.

Firebrand is going to be godlike.

The Next Wolverine!!!

I don’t think he will be the next Wolverine, per se, as he has a much more modes damage output in comparison to Wolverine who could do around 700k damage from a simple bread and butter combo and Firebrand also looks to be a much more technical character to do damaging combos with than Wolverine so there’s a much larger excecution gap between the two characters which may alienate newcomers to the character unlike Wolverine who is very easy to pick up and play in comparison.
Most importantly of all however Firebrand and Wolverine differ greatly in their overall play style, with Wolverine playing a rushdown game of pressure and mixups, while Firebrand’s play style is much more focussed on aerial superiority, flying accross the screen everywhere with his incredible mobility.

So while I do think Firebrand is looking pretty damn awesome in this game, it would be wrong to compare him to MVC3’s Wolverine as Firebrand is completely different in terms of play style than Wolverine and there is a much larger level of execution required to play Firebrand effectively than vanilla Wolverine.

Well, atleast he can double jump to make his air dashes safe unlike most characters who can airdash.

Nope.avi

just his c.H has super armor as well as his R.Launcher slams, however him having full hyper armor and invincible start up on one of his hypers is very strong. The guy deals a truck-ton of damage probably 2nd in the game next to Hulk, reason why I think people are overlooking him is because well he’s a slow character on the front and some people prefer Sentinel. But he does have allot of tools to make him at least mid tier maybe even high mid.

I don’t know why people are “afraid” of characters with armor on stuff anymore. It just means you have to let them throw some buttons out there for a while and then just catch them when they whiff something or run in and air throw them. Most characters with armor normals have really slow frames on their normals so it’s easy for them to get blown up if their spacing isn’t good and they’re just whiffing those normals half the time. The only thing that looks close to scary about Nemesis so far for me is that his air tentacle poke covers like what seems to be the full god damn screen and command grab seems to reach most of the screen also. Which means he’ll have some full screen gimmicks like Skrull but if you blocking the armor normals when he wants to throw them, what can really go wrong?

Those types of characters are scary if you like to just mindlessly press buttons (February) but it’s not like Zero or Wolverine where they’re going to open you up free if you block. At Evo and other majors, characters like Hulk and Sentinel ate up people who were just going in like they were fighting a Wesker or Magneto but you never saw them running around on point once top 32 started coming around. All of those characters are going to have a similar best purpose which is assisting point characters with their strong assists.

His armor assist sounds like the best thing about him so far honestly. His point game will be alright but for tournaments he’s most likely just going to be another character that sits in the back and assists other people and then comes out swinging in XF3 and hopes he hits something.
