While its a shame someone died in this situation.
Thinking about it the kid that was being pulled was probably suffering from a concussion. Thus not exactly in his best frame of mind. Add in with the “flight or fight” response, the bully knowing to some degree jiu jutsu, 2 years older and stronger, and has 2 teammates as it were. The moment that the bullied knew that the kid had a knife and still kept on trying to bully him. He willingly put his own life on the line. Because a knife isn’t a toy and he really should have reconsidered what could happen if he kept bullying this kid.
On that day the bully died. What if the bully did walk away that day only to come back the next day. Take the knife away and kill the kid that he was bullying?

The kid was young and scared. Something happened that was enough for him to come to the conclusion he needed a knife as a means to defend himself. You can’t blame him for being “weak.” Not even some “good-willed martial artist” would try to paint this as anything but a tragedy.
In an ideal world, yeah we wish everyone could solve their problems without repercussions. That’s not the case here, and its the truth of our system that shit like this can and still will happen in schools with very little coverage on it and nothing being done. As some people have pointed out already, unless you switch counties somehow bullying doesn’t just stop with the authorities.
He doesn’t need anyone’s help to call him weak, irrational, or tell him he had bad judgment. He just killed someone, that’s already going to be on his shoulders for the rest of his life. Whether he should go to jail or not, most people on the internet aren’t qualified to decide. The way I see it, as someone who’s underwent the law’s scrutiny and been/seen similar cases myself, save the jailhouses for real criminals. Not scared and helpless children, no matter how pitiable the situation.

Kid got into a after school fight and used a weapon that he had with him the whole time. All this other shit that people are arguing about is conjectural or just flat out fictional. Nobody knows if Jorge was being bullied or not, it was just something brought about in the case to keep him from getting a manslaughter charge.
You guys have way too much emotion invested in the whole bullying topic to post anything that isn’t biased or silly. If the solution to all conflicts is further violence then we are just a hopeless lot anyways so why bother even arguing?

that’s completely false general, whether he was getting bullied or not DOESN’T matter at all. It’s been explained several time in the thread, the kid tried to end the confrontation peacefully several times. He left the bus early, inconveniencing himself to get away, they followed him and hit him, then he rand and they chased! At that point you have exactly two options, get beat and possibly permanently injured or killed, or defend yourself. He chose to defend himself. I am incredibly impressed he tried to get away TWICE, that is a lot of commitment to not hurting someone else when he clearly could have just sliced the guy up a bit. He essentially gave that guy two chances to live and he didn’t take 'em.
People don’t have to be trained police officers to swing something around. Just know that there’s many possible reasons that he could have stabbed him 12 times: guy was scared out of his mind, he wanted to make sure the guy was dead, he was flailing it around, etc.
explain, in the best possible way you can. How is me associating him as a killer which essentially just means “someone who has killed, or kills” relates to the strawman method.

Re: how other students viewed the bully
They could see him as saintly. It’s irrelevant. It’s entire possible for someone to treat most people like gold and one person like shit. It’s a documented thing. It doesn’t defend the bully’s actions worth shit.

Yeah it doesn’t really matter who he was or what he did with his life, he could work at a soup kitchen and take care of orphans in his spare time, he put himself in a situation where someone thought the only way to protect themselves was to slash him with a knife. He made poor decisions that ended up costing him his life, it’s sad but it’s what happened.
