Built in input lag?

What is this mentality. We want to make the game better. That doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy it how it is already, people make the best of things but we ask them to fix problems so it’s better also.

This like, strange mentality that those of us pointing out things with the game that aren’t as good as they could be must be miserable people or that were salty over losses and the solution is to bend over take it in the ass and like it. It’s not like that at all. We’re all playing the game making the best of it and enjoying it but also speaking out cause yeah it sucks and needs fixed. It’s not this black and white thing that people like you think it is. Maybe I’m reading too deep into your comment.

And the most ironic thing about this mentality that some people have… I am on PC with VSync modded off. I’m dominating, and I’m absolutely dominating because I have a 4 frame advantage over most of my opponents. I want it fixed so that I DONT have an unfair advantage and more so than that I want less than 4f lag that I’m enjoying now though I’d also be OK with a 4f standard because it plays pretty good this way. You know what they say about people that assume. People know I have a more righteous attitude about things than most people. Most people in my position would just say nothing and laugh at the people like Yunity and hope that nobody catches on to the secret, but I always look at the bigger picture.

Well they said they’re looking into it, I sincerely doubt they’ll leave the input lag as it is now.

Also am I the only guy who plays on PC without v-sync and then goes to locals on PS4 and doesn’t have a hard time adjusting? Everyone is blowing this shit out of proportion. It’s like 2 extra frames. Yeah it kinda sucks but it’s not a huge deal and will be fixed.

If it’s not that big a deal then why the fuck do we worry about having lagless monitors or not? 2 frames,4,frames,8 frames. It’s not that big a deal. Just play on what the fuck ever monitor and git gud. If you’re cool with your 8f piece of shit delay then fine. But,don’t even pretend that it’s even halfway acceptable.

wow thats epic bro glad you’re having a BLAST

acknowledgment is extremely encouraging. I’m honestly expecting it to get resolved eventually

I’d put good money on these “lol ur not top 8 why do you care” chuckleheads having bitched about a laggy TV/monitor at some point in their own professional fighting game careers

I’m not a programmer, i’m don’t work at capcom, i literally cant do anything about those additional 4 frames.

So until they fix it, i’m going to have whatever fun i can. That fun involves crushing wake up throw tech and punishing whiffed DPs with Guile’s standing fierce.

Best mentality.

They probably play on the shittiest, laggiest monitors have a 50% win rate and are too stupid to know the difference.

That’s the kind of person I see that would be defending this.

Also recognize this for what it is on a primitive level. These people have a fanboy and childish mentality to the point where if they see any criricism at all they think you’re “attacking” their close friend Capcom and so their minds go to all kinds of goofy angles. They’re not adults that understand how constructive criticism works and the dumb masses don’t know standards either. It’s really up to the smart people to speak out.

I too realllly hope this is getting sorted out but there’s no harm in talking about it, there is only harm in not talking about it.

Ok that’s what I thought.

Well stay out of it then and let us make the game better so you can have more fun.

Bestest mentality.

Fourwude already did the leg work, all you’re doing is posting in a thread.

Since you arent working on code, you cant directly fix the game. What needed to happen was to let Capcom know and they’ve already acknowledged it.

Not much else you can do now.

What has he done? I’m curious.

There is power in writing. If people weren’t talking about this and making it an issue Capcom would ignore it.

There’s even more power in tweets and emails. Companies listen. I’ve already done this and encourage others to do the same.

Also discourse leads to changing minds of others getting to the truth educating people who may not even know what input delay is. Etc. there’s no need to shit on people for for trying to make some noise.

Why even have a message board. You hear that folks it’s pointless close your accounts go home and shut up. Fourwude will take care of it everyone at Capcom is completely competent that’s how we got 8f of lag in the first place they know what they’re doing folks, your input is not needed nor welcomed.

That’s more about having a standard. Out of the package, 8f is the standard for V. There had been situations like what we have with screens before there even were HD displays, but those were more about which version to use as the standard, as various ports had their own issues. Now we have to pick a version and just go as lagless as possible on the displays to make sure everyone is on a somewhat level playing field.

The rollback code does indeed seem to be wrong from what folks have been seeing/finding. That doesn’t surprise me either with what looks to have gone into the design of this game. It’s just a bizarre gumbo of wrong-headed decisions and poor technical skill. I really wonder if Capcom just put together A LOT of the meat of the game via random work-for-hire or something. So strange.

well, uh, guess that’s where we’re at now.

Difference between Tekken and SF is that the fastest animations in a Tekken game are not near the fastest animations in SF. Onviousely the input delay will be felt more noticeably in SF than in a Tekken game especially while using faster normals or trying to do things like whiff punishing etc.

This also completely defeats the purpose of adding a rollback netcode… Instead of making online play like offline, they instead add extra input delay and make it shit all around and they can say “the game online is like offline!”

This decision makes no fucking sense since rollback netcode disrupts smooth net play intentionally so that the game can prioritize responsiveness. Making choices moving in two entirely different directions accomplishing something worse than simply committing to one or the other since the 8 frame delay disproportionally affects online play. Dropping frames and having higher delay is worlds worse than simply having the game drop frames like 3SO or have delay like SFIV.

I love that we got the reverse of what we wanted for all these years. The goal was to finally get netcode good enough to allow netplay to be comparable to offline play. GGPO accomplished this – it wasn’t perfect, but it felt really damn nice, and was only getting better. The goal was NOT to make offline play as laggy as online.

How stupid – I mean, the fuck man!? You have to have zero understanding of your community to not understand the ridiculous contrasting design and desires. I can only pray that even though it was “intentional” (intentional meaning they are too incompetent to make good netcode without doing something like adding a ton of delay), that doesn’t mean they aren’t willing to change it.

I just… ugh…

Delay should not be longer than the majority of the start-ups of your game’s fuckin’ attacks! GGGGGGGGGGGGGRAAAAAAAAH, this topic, dude! It’s like they really have NO idea, like they live in an enclosure, and they don’t even know that FGC stands for “Fighting Game Community”, not “First Goal Cash.”

Ugh, I just hate Capcom so much. It’s like watching a really bad drama where the bad guy can keep making all these terrible decisions but he keeps getting away with it for arbitrary reasons. Nothing is more frustrating than watching someone make so many bad decisions, but Karma never comes into play and it never comes crumbling down on their heads.

Can some company buy the Street Fighter IP from Capcom please?

I’m just… disappointed more than anything. Such has been my SFV experience so far. I just want it to be good, why does even the underlying coding of the game have to be bad? When I was considering how good SFV was going to be, I didn’t even consider stuff like the game’s code being bad. I expected shitty netcode, I did not expect the game to run like a really laggy online match by default. Cries Whyyyy? You just have to be so stupid to do this intentionally! I just don’t even… fuckin’ gawwwwd!

Why do they even need online to be similar to offline? Save for like one CPT slot, they don’t give a FUCK about online tournaments. Whyyyy!?

Officially dead inside

Sooner or later I will become numb to Capcom’s dumb decisions, but until then… I’m distraught.

INB4 peeps be acting like everything’s okay now since it was intentional.

Not really, this is the part where after we gave them the benefit of the doubt and the time needed to fulfill the promises stated in their timelines.

Now they Capcom can get shit on from high heaven as they have successfully blundered the most prominent fighting game franchise in a hilarious myriads of ways.

Ok cool. Fix it shave down the delay and improve the netcode to compensate instead of masking how much it sucks.

Oh I agree for sure.

Also the fact that it’s apparently intentional makes that they said they were “looking into it” after receiving reports about it as stated in their blog all the more hilarious.

It bothers me greatly that they have an easy connection to a proven netcode and they decide to fuck it all up anyways.

If NRS, in all their amazing incompetence, can man up and dial up the Cannons for the good of their fans, how in the fuck is the company that benefits the most from the exposure granted by the competitive scene (and has hired multiple people from it) not listen to the one thing they could’ve done? They didn’t have to do GGPO, they could’ve gone the double helix route and consulted with them on how to implement the ideas behind it properly.

All this really does is open the door for a legitimate competitior to street fighter from a western dev. I don’t think KI is it because of where the gameplay and feel is. But if you could take some of the core that makes street fighter, add decent implementation and a lot of casual fanfare paired up with a good netcode, you put a dent in it.

“Input delay? Oh no! We’re looking into it…”

“After a thorough investigation…we realized that the cause of the delay was the intentional decision to include this input delay. Please understand, it was impossible for us to know that including input delay would cause this input delay issue. Based on community input, we should have known not to make this decision…but unfortunately that community input was delayed by 8 frames and we were not able to properly react to it in time. We are now looking into why our community input is delayed…”

“After a thorough investigation…we have realized that us hearing community input is delayed because we are intentionally totally retarded.”

“Please understand…the game is called Street Fighter. Remember Street Fighter II? How about III? 4? Please understand this game is also named Street Fighter so disregard everything about it other than that. Thank you for money and fuck you”
