Actually most tourneys use consoles not because they are anti-progressive its that consoles are logistically easier to manage.
A Small tourney may lack the resources to manage PCs at all and a large tourney like Evo would lack the man-power and time.
Consoles are very much plug-and-play machines.
You are not. But if you look at the PS4 and Xbox One while new $400 and $450 is not that much difference in price then a entry level gaming PC at $500.
Lets not mention Smash players. Too much drama there to relate.
But I can get PS4’s used for 240 and Xbones for 180. So I need a set of used computers I can buy for that much. So for less than a PC I can get a benq monitor and a PS4.
I’m gonna ignore the “LOL Smash players are all X” nonsense because we all know it’s bullshit to generalize people like that and it has nothing to do with the topic.
Wow, sick assumption. I’m more of a Melee guy though. I constantly complain about how Smash 4 let me down, you can roast that shit out of that for all I care.
By “school the nation” do you mean enlighten people on the issue, bring new insight to it? or mock the game for having 7 frames? Because I don’t see the first two as a put-down and SFV has 8.
Somehow, someway people have managed to run many PC game events of wildly varying sizes where every single player needed their own PC, monitor, keyboard and mouse. LAN parties are ancient, you don’t have to guess if it’s doable, it’s straight up been done.
Consoles are easier but PC is better, especially now that Dantarion made that Dinput/Hotplugging add-on. Converters? Special boards? Modding your stick/pad? Fuck that, just plug it in and it works. It’s ok though, I’m sure Legacy Support is great.
The money you’ll likely save players on all that stick modding/buying a new stick probably outweighs the additional cost of PC vs PS4. Figure the average player will probably just go out and get a new stick, some may get a brooke something + installation and a small minority knows how to do it themselves.
You disagreed with this post and since you hadn’t posted after I was curious what you disagreed with on the topic, little confused so I wanted your opinion.
Fix input lag. I swear to fucking god that the whole pretense of doing 2x lights into crossups jumpins in this game is stupendous to say the least. if i miss another shoto or laura or mika jumpin that i anti aired with birdie (which would only net me 60 dmg btw) compared to the buttfuck that is 300+ damage and a hardknock down or a rest.
That jumpin has little to no risk attached to it.
negative: oh no 60 dmg what ever shall i do
Positive: 300+ dmg and mixup potential
Positive: tick throws (because lag makes sure that when you want to take your turn you will be afraid of getting mash/frame trapped)
Positive: Back to the neutral game to wiff normals
And another thing. The only reason meaty and shimmy’s work so good in this game because when you try to react to something you get counter hit for free because your reaction time gets thrown out the window due to the lag.
That and dumb decisions like: Oh you pressed a normal and i just happened to jump in? Free combo to super.
If you are talking about the input lag, they know exactly what causes it. I think they dont know exactly what is causing the random deshyncs and rollbacks in matchs played under 60ms of network delay time. The last ones are something they have to fix, no excuses, it should have been done long time ago, it should to be the priority over things like matchmaking or punishment for rage quitting. Once they dont know very well whats causing them, they wont be fixing until any time soon. Maybe we get lucky and they just stumble over it while looking at the code, but it is unlikely to happen.
Enough so when you see someone jumping at you you can train yourself to anti air properly.
Not that your brain processes: oh he’s jumping i should time my anti air riiiiiiiight now (insert input lag of 8 frames right here) Oh nice i just ate 300 dmg because i responded correctly but not because i saw straight in the future.
Normally I play on PC and I played on PS4 yesterday for the first time.
It was a completely different feel. I didn’t think it was going to be that big of a difference. Surprised at what I could pull off, but it was not an enjoyable experience. Feel bad for anyone playing on PS4 now
