This will not be fixed any time quickly. They aren’t even sure what the issue is yet I’d bet. Even if they plan on fixing it, look at their typical time schedule. They still haven’t said a thing about adding direct input to PC since launch. Meanwhile, Dantarion has coded a semipatch by himself that adds direct input for many devices. He did this while also playing overwatch and working on a handful of other things that grabbed his interest.
I talked to Jibbo about it when he came to Alaska and he said it bothers him but that he doesn’t say much publicly because too many people will shout you down with “just adapt idiot!” I suspect he’s not the only notable player who feels this way.
The irony of course being that if this was ANY other game the response would be “Game is dead lol Fuck this company”
Jeezus, if this were Netherealm with this issue, MK fans would have to hear about it for the next 2 decades “Pfft MK15? Fuck that. MKX had 8 frames of input lag. Shit game is shit!”
A number play on PC at home, like PR Rog. The issue is that compared to a console the PC is much harder to consistently setup to be consistent with other PCs and is costlier at tournaments. I want them to try using a PC with v-sync disabled at a couple of tournaments though. Also, in at least one tournament I’ve seen a windows update popup, lol. I dunno if it was for SF4 or a different game like quake or something, can’t remember. Just lolworthy either way.
That was SF4 era, and that wasn’t until later in the SF4 lifetime when PC prices dropped significantly while console prices stagnated. Actually, it’s pretty notable how little console prices dropped over the lifetime of the generation given how long it was. Part of that was because of the need to create new versions of the consoles that fixed problems with the old ones.
A lot of people simply don’t want to deal with PC’s. Consoles are just a lot more convenient and there’s really no arguing that, although they are starting to make consoles more and more PC like which is personally turning me off of them.
