Florida man narrowly escapes on riding lawnmower from machete-wielding attacker
A man told authorities he was able to narrowly escape an intoxicated, machete-wielding man Monday in Delray Beach by riding off on a lawnmower, according to a report.
Jose Rodas Flores, 27, faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and resisting an officer. He remains in the Palm Beach County Jail without bail.
On Monday, a man doing work near the 10000 block of Atlantic Avenue, west of Delray Beach, told authorities that a person, later identified as Rodas Flores, motioned for him to come over to him. When the man made his way over on the lawnmower, Rodas Flores took a machete out of his jeans and came after him, according to the Palm Beach County Sheriff’s arrest report. The man told authorities he watched his alleged attacker get on a bike, but fell off because he was too intoxicated. PBSO did not indicate in their report if Rodas Flores was drunk at the time.
Deputies found Rodas Flores hiding nearby at his residence in nothing but his boxers. Authorities wrote that he was uncooperative as they took him to their patrol car.
Rodas Flores does not appear to have any previous record in Palm Beach County.

I was going through a weigh station down in Charlotte county 3 years ago, and was passing a lane that met mine at a diagonal angle. It had 2 stops signs, one on the inside shoulder, and one on the shoulder of MY lane, both facing away from me. A trooper pulled me aside after I passed the intersecting lane and asked why I didn’t stop. I was kinda laughing cuz he was chuckling and smiling and I thought he was playing around. He got serious and asked what was wrong with me, and asked if I saw the stop sign. I walked around the vehicle and pointed to the signs, neither of them readable from my lane, just recognizable as stop signs by their hexagonal shape, and told him, “Neither of those signs are facing traffic for my lane, they’re both facing that lane, so I thought they were FOR that lane, I’m sorry but somebody should have fixed that. People won’t obey a sign that isn’t facing them. Without at least a spray-painted stop bar before those lanes meet, people won’t know they’re supposed to stop there until somebody fixes that sign. I INSTALL signs for a living according to Florid/a Department Of Transportation spec. tables.” Jackass concludes I was right after reviewing my mot certification, but ticketed me anyway. If I wanted to get it thrown out, I could’ve by showing up in the Charlotte county courthouse that Saturday…I live in HILLSBOROUGH county. Over a hundred miles away. That smug bastard.

In the UK a new law will be coming into effect that means parking attendants must give you 10minute grace period to get back to your car.
When I briefly crashed at a friends house in London, I left my car parked outside the house because Sundays were free, but at 9am Monday you need to have a parking permit (which I didn’t have). I jumped out of bed to move the car at 9:01am there was already a £75 ticket on it.
Florida can’t help itself. People say there are “good” cops, but how can you judge and differentiate at first glance? It’s not like you can assume a cop is a nice guy/ gal and won’t screw you over or worse.
I remember driving to my college years ago and this cop was tailgating me, literally 5-6 feet behind my car at 55mph. The other lane was tightly packed, being early morning rush hour traffic. Since I was already going the speed limit, speeding up could’ve gotten me ticketed. So I had to risk the chance of possibly being forced to brake and getting rear ended, or risk paying hundreds of bucks for a cop’s reckless driving. In both cases, the courts would automatically assume it was me at fault. Luckily, I got to turn off after a couple of miles, but these are the kinds of situations that used to piss me off. This isn’t even the worst experience I’ve had.
The most interesting part of that news article was the fact that these cops berated their own black officers. So much for it being a brotherhood.
