Bugs_bunny.gif keeps looking better and better: Florida thread

There’s no way what he did falls under first-degree murder. That’s clearly an overreach. The attempted murder charges were just and he was convicted properly on those.

from what I hear, he screwed himself by shooting at the car while they were fleeing. If they were running away, they were no longer attacking, hence he no longer had a reason to “Stand His Ground”. This would make a rather good episode of Law & Order IMO.

-Starhammer-

Yeah, it still doesn’t make it premeditated murder. The guy is a douche nugget, no one is arguing that but him, but I am not a fan of convicting anyone on a charge they clearly don’t fit. At that point, why even have laws?

i like that people are calling for that dumb bitch, angela corey, to resign.

there is no time frame for premeditation. you can premeditate a murder in seconds. you dont have to get out paper and sketch it out. lol. he should have been charged with first degree attempted murder for those three boys at the very least, and he wasnt. this isnt bad boys, you do not continue shooting into a vehicle from a knee down stance as it drives away. you are no longer standing your ground at that point, and are choosing to try to murder anyone in that car. then even worse, you go back to your hotel, chill out and order pizza with your girlfriend, who apparently is a moron who doesnt question anything, and act like nothing happened. then pack up and head on home, still nothing, and if it werent for a homeless dude getting your tag plate, you had no intention on reporting the incident whatsoever. even lying about calling your cop friend and telling him what happened, when in reality your cop friend called you and wanted to know if you wanted to hang out that night. lying piece of shit. you think you are some type of gungho vigilante who can just shoot ten rounds into a car and then go on with life like nothing happened.

i think first degree murder considering all the other evidence, wasnt a reach for the prossecuter (dunns attorney could have gotten it dismissed), but second degree murder may have been easier to get him convicted of. i might be missing some facts on the case, but the jury should have still been able to charge him with second degree murder if they saw fit, but they believed that dunn was legit scared and acting in defense for his life. which is so dumb, and why laws like the ones florida has in place are just ridiculous vigilante laws to allow for bullshit like this to happen, and unfortunately that law still favors white people WAAAAAAAY more then it has black people, and im not just talking about recent cases.

so a dude with a hearing problem in his right ear from a diving injury, who was arguing with davis, through davis’s partially down car window, with the music up, because davis’s friend thompson said he turned it down, but then davis said turn it back up and then davis and dunn started arguing for a long enough time for the driver of the suv to come back from the store (he had already been gone prior to the argument), allegedly do a little dance to the music before getting into the car, and then thats when they heard dunn say, “you talking to me”, and shots rang off. with that said, sir, if you ask a suv full of teens late at night to turn the music down, they do, then turn it back up, and one of them starts arguing with you, why dont you just move your car. this is why these laws are so stupid, unless you are trapped, you should have to attempt to remove yourself from a situation before engaging the way he did with his firearm. you shouldnt be allowed to go back and forth with someone, instigating the situation further, and then once you have heard, or thought you heard, one keyword that is a threat that you can act on, you then proceed to shoot up a storm.

i can see how a jury is trying to be as objective as possible, by saying, who are we to say what someone should and shouldnt fear, but just because he says this is what was said to him, doesnt make it true, especially when no gun was found, hes the only one who saw jordan get out of the car, the only one who heard these death threats, they initially complied with his request, and rather then go inside, get his girl and get the fuck out of there, or even move his vehicle away from them, he decided he wasnt gonna get punked, and when davis allegedly started hurling threats at him, he knew, oh its now my legal right to get it on. so he reached into his glove compartment pulled out his gun, shot at the vehicle, the driver reverses it immediately, pulls off, dunn gets out of his car, takes a knee, and starts blasting into the car as they try to get away.

the prossecution should have brought race into it. not sure if she was allowed to bring in that evidence, but this dude clearly already had some harsh and stupid opinions about black people. not sure if his neighbor was brought in to testify at the trial. i mean, the dude is clearly not some dude who was in fear for his life, he is a psychopath, now crying like a baby because hes going to get fucked up in prison. if you really thought what you did was justified, then you would have called the police immediately after the incident and stayed put until they found those teenagers. instead you drive off and have pizza at the hotel, claiming you were scared they were going to find you, yet you left your gun in your car over night. lol

what the fuck ever man. i think dunn knew exactly what he was getting into at the very least after the first exchange happened post turning the music down then up, escalated it further by arguing and not removing himself from the situation, then thought, i dont need to take this shit, and shot dudes car up knowing he can bullshit his way through saying he was threatened.

again, too bad none of his racist ass letter were allowed to be brought up in court,

did anyone watch the like 40 minute interview of one of his neighbors describing how shitty dunn was? i saw some of it, but didnt get through it all. its a shame that if he didnt take the extra shots at the car, he would be walking right now.

some exerpts from the neighbors interview

[quote]
AMY GOODMAN: The attorney for Jordan Davis’s family released a video interview of Charles Hendrix, who was Michael Dunn’s former next-door neighbor. Hendrix said Dunn was a man with a history of violent behavior, insurance fraud, cocaine use. The neighbor claimed Dunn had once bragged about putting a hit out on someone and that his first wife said he had held a gun to her head and threatened to kill her. This is an excerpt of Dunn’s former neighbor’s interview.

CHARLES HENDRIX: An attitude about him like he was smarter than everybody else. And I found that not only annoying, but quite amusing, because I didn’t find him as near as intelligent as he thought he was. He knew about computers, but he didn’t appear to know a lot about interpersonal relationships and how to get along with people. That was just my perception. He had an air where he was light and friendly, and he laughed, but if you disagreed with him, he would get boisterous and try to be overbearing and try to intimidate people with his size and his voice. He appeared to me to be very selfish, and that there wasn’t much that he wouldn’t do to get what he wanted or get his way.

AMY GOODMAN: This is Charles Hendrix, Michael Dunn’s former next-door neighbor, more of the interview.

CHARLES HENDRIX: I think that there’s entirely too many people in this country that are getting killed needlessly because people that should never, ever get their hands on guns are able to get them. And Michael Dunn is one of those people. I believe that if he had been subjected to some sort of psychological evaluation or if they had really done a background investigation on him to find out his propensity to be violent and a bully, that possibly—possibly, not 100 percent, but possibly—he would have never gotten his hands on a weapon.

There are several times where he made comments that "I can’t wait for somebody to try something with me when I have my gun." I’m the type of person, that’s the last thing I’d want to be contemplating. You know, I don’t want to have a confrontation with somebody while I have a gun. Anybody that does, they’re predisposed, in my opinion, to kill somebody. If you’re looking for a confrontation just because you have a gun—there’s no question in my mind that people that are looking for problems when they have a gun someday are going to find it. And when I heard about this incident with Michael Dunn, I said, "There you go. I knew it. Sooner or later he’s going to kill somebody." I had said that to my wife. I had said it to my daughter. "Sooner or later, this guy is going to kill somebody. He thinks that a gun makes him safe and makes him all-powerful."

I dont understand how he gets ATTEMPTED MURDER for the 3 kids he shot at but didnt kill but doesnt get MURDER for the kid he did hit. Wtf is that logic?

the jury was at first 10-2 in the conviction of murder, then 9-3, then ultimately they dropped that and hit him with 3 counts of second degree attempted murder. they just couldnt unanimously agree, and the judge deemed it a mistrial.

http://www.firstcoastnews.com/story/news/local/michael-dunn-trial/2014/02/19/michael-dunn-juror-wanted-murder-conviction/5601199/

3 people hung up the jury and couldnt agree that self defense was not the case here. craziness. i believe it was 8 white people in the jury of different genders, 2 black people, and 1 asian. he might be able to make parole before he dies, but hes doing a lot of time. i wouldnt be shocked if he tries to kill himself. im not sure if he is free right now before his sentencing. im pretty sure he is. he cant run. he wont make it far in this day and age.

like damn, what if the driver choked up, dove out the car, and dunn just lit the car up killing his other friends. would he just have gotten a mistrial in those murders, no attempted murder charges, and the prossecution (that worthless ho) would have to get another trial hearing. its crazy that the fact that the young man drove away, and dunn was a psycho who continued to shoot at them, is the ONLY reason he is getting any charges right now.

so the message is still clear in florida at least, that if youre gonna claim syg, castle doctrine, self defense yada yada, just make sure youre white, you kill them, and you can beat the charges. also dont leave a scene and walk back shooting, but those cases have been pretty cut and dry.

lets not forget the prossecuter in this case, angela corey, is a piece of shit

EVEN THE FUCKING JUDGE WAS LIKE NOPE. WHAT DID SHE DO. APPEAL THAT SHIT TO MAKE SURE RONALD ROTS IN JAIL UNTIL HE IS 85.

yeah, that happened.

Michael Dunn’s defense is I saw a barrel, which led me to fear it was a shotgun so I responded by getting my gun and firing to protect myself. Dunn really never ever says that he saw a gun, but waffled between barrel, shotgun and stick never conclusively saying what he saw. If Dunn saw a gun, he should have said gun every time he was asked about what he thought was pointed at him. It should never be a guessing game or waffling between three different objects. During the trial, they added more objects further indicating that Dunn could not conclusively agree on what he thinks he saw.

Besides if someone steps outside a vehicle with an object as large as a shotgun, people would see it. Then again, a person with a shotgun would not need to step out of their vehicle to shoot someone less than 10 ft away either. I mean its a shotgun…

You don’t have to step out? I guess you don’t plan on aiming a 3-foot long weapon from inside of a small cabin of a vehicle.

You have to point it at your target of course, but you don’t need to step out.

Logic? :looney:

-Starhammer-

Because Florida.

Probably because the kid he hit was the one he said he thought had the shotgun, so THAT one was a justifiable kill, whereas the other 3 were cases of trying to kill someone who’s fleeing and no longer a threat, which is illegal…duh.

Y’know, it really is a great thing when this happens…or when other inmates dish out a “death penalty” for us…since I just realized that also saves quite a bit of money; one more criminal piece of shit that we don’t have to support via taxes anymore, whether they are serving out a prison term or on death row and getting their years and years of appeals. (*so many appeals kind of defeats the whole point of a death penalty, imo…yet another silly thing about our justice system…the person could end up dying of health issues or just old age by the time he or she runs out of appeals. <–haha, that’s hilarious that I threw in the “or she” like women REALLY get a death penalty sentence that often  )

Nothing to see here, just another day in Florida.

I want to argue, but he DID hit and kill the guy.

-Starhammer-

I’m really hoping that somehow, someone can explain that its not totally fucking irresponsible and unsafe for a blind person to own firearms. Between this and the Iowa house trying to legalize silencers I’d be embarrassed to be a 2nd Amendment activist right now.

I got nothing for that. Stinkmeaner shouldn’t have guns. In other fucked up local news, a homeless guy walked out into busy traffic and was struck by 5 cars.

…5 cars? as in 5 separate vehicles hit the SAME guy?

SORRY, ABOUT YO’ DAMN LUCK!!!

-Starhammer-

So that woman who got 20 years for firing that warning shot? That ruling was tossed and it’s looking like she’s going to have to serve each count consecutively, meaning she’ll be in jail for 60 years.

Oh, Florida.

Well with a name like John Wayne…
