You’re only limited to three lifebars in world tournament. In duel mode, you can go up to seven lifebars, and for the damage capable of being done in this game, fighting at 7 is a rule for me.
Also, most of the combos shown only do 1,500-2,000 damage. Because of TC, and TC cancelling, you’ve gotta be careful with what combos you use. In a section where Gokou was doing his Xformation combos, one of his juggles was the ->PPPP<-P(something like that). The last P has quite a slow start-up and recovery time, so a skilled player can TC cancel that and run away. If they can TC more than the attacker beforehand, then it’ll be safe to TC cancel and then do a custom combo.
Then again, the purpose of that video was to show that Budokai 3 is capable of some of the most insane custom combos ever.
I’m pretty sure Teen Gohan is being put into a tier right below the top. Teen Gohan has some good combos, but best of all, he has meditation.
From my experience, I’d say top tier is Goku, Vegeta, Omega Shenron, and Piccolo (not necessarily in that order).
That is the best of the best, I think, but I’ve yet to see what a good Frieza or Cell can do, and I think those 2 have a good shot at being top tier as well.
Vegeta’s not top tier. Freezer does not stand a chance. Cell does, however.
I will tell you that the most absolute bottom tier is Hercule. Its so obvious. Pathetic baseline ki of two, unable to escape being teleport rushed, unable to escape being juggled. But he is a “joke” character after all so. . .
I can narrow down the tier list from the other Budokai veterans to (in no order):
Gokou
Omega Shenron
Piccolo
Kid Buu
Gohan
Vegeta does have meditation though. . .An incredibly deadly capsule. Gokou, Piccolo and Gohan have it to. It surpresses ki usage as if your ki was 20. It really helps. The three slots are worth it.
Interesting, i thought Frieza would have to be top or top-mid because of his transformation juggle combos (since he has what, second or third highest number of transformations in the game?). Then again, I haven’t had much experience playing with him, and I thought we were doing tiers based off of characters only using Breakthroughs (as, IMO, the other custom char types break the game).
Actually, it really depends on what kind of stuns you do. There are some combos that cannot be used for canceling because the stun length it provides isn’t long enough. That’s why you’ve gotta be specific with the combos you do.
Ahh, goku makes it top place again! Looks like Omega Shenron is damn good according to you. lol
Anyways, is there any chance that high level match videos can be shown? To show how this game is played, and what kind of depth it has. The combo vid is one thing, but nothing is as important as matches. Even if it’s not serious matches, just get some matches out there plz.
And not too big file size, dial-up users have lame connection
I mentioned myself that I put the tier list in no specific order ;p
If I had a better laptop to use, I could record some high level gameplay matches. . .But the laptop I have just does not cut it.
I have all the equipment I need however (thanks Goryus).
Also, if you want to start getting used to high level play, crank up the difficulty to the highest it will go. Play through a long DU (Gokou, Vegeta and Piccolo specifically) on Very Hard, Z, Z2 and Z3. In fact, playing Piccolo’s DU on V. Hard was the second thing I did (first was fighting Gokou on V. Hard in duel mode with Bardock). Once you play through all the modes, you’ll get pretty damn surprised at how much better at the game you get. I know if I did not do that, I wouldn’t be here helping you guys out.
You’ll really start to see the game’s depth unfold as you learn about predicting a TC, the usefulness of blocking & dodging, aimable ultimate lauunchers, proper ki management, etc.
where would Broly (my best char) be placed in the tier list??? I know hes not top tier because of his slowness but he should be somewhat high-middle tier for his incredible strength. am i right?
Heh, so playing through on the hardest difficulty will help huh? I’ll play for fun, not get too serious. I just want to play this game for what it is, a DBZ brawler. You have all the recording equipment? That’s great, now if only your pc could handle that? The vid doesn’t have to be super godly quality, something small but viewable would be nice.
