This is dragon rush. What Goryus and his pal did were simply 4 button command input ultimates.

I thought I would just throw this out there: The game would be much better if ultimates and dragon rushes were not in it.

You use the capsule abilities to do all those combos right?
But, if you use the Custom charactersā€¦ wouldnā€™t that make the game horribly broken? Or did you just give everyone BreakThrus and no abilities.

All combos done used the characterā€™s breakthroughs (for those who donā€™t know, basically the plain vanilla characters with all their skills auto-equipped at full power and no funky stuff attatched).

I do not believe that the game remains at all balanced when you use the custom capsule set ups. If anyone were to try and play it competetively, I think custom setups would have to be banned (or so many of them as to not make it worthwhile), so we stay away from them as much as possible.

Ahhā€¦but I donā€™t think the game is very balanced with breakthroughs either. I meanā€¦Tien is not going to be able to beat Goku if they are both set this way, unless one player is remarkably skilled and the other sucks.

shrugs This is sorta like saying that Q canā€™t beat Yun in 3S, or Blanka canā€™t beat Ryu in ST.

There is some definite tiering exhibited, but the top tier constitutes like a third of the 38 character roster, including Goku, Gohan, Vegeta, Frieza, Cell, Cooler, Kid Buu, Super Buu, Brolly, Omega Shenron, Uub, and possibly Piccolo. Other characters like Dabura, Teen Gohan, Majin Buu, Krillin, Kid Goku, and more are easy upper-middle tier characters who are at a slight disadvantage against the big players but can still hold their own. Some characters like Yamcha, Nappa, and yes, Tien are stuck at either middle or possibly lower tier ranks, and have uphill battles against the better characters. Such is life.

Saibaman, Cell Jr., and Hercule are total joke characters. Iā€™ll give you that they canā€™t compete at all, but then, they werenā€™t meant to. They make up a well defined bottom tier, with Ginyu hovering just slightly above them.

OK, a friend and I are gonna be hsoting a B3 tourney soon, and we were debating what will and will not be allowed, and iā€™d like to ask you guys since you know better than I do what is and is not broken:

  1. Custom characters. I said that we should allow only characters with Breakthroughs, he wanted to allow all custom characters. We reached a compromise where characters with Breakthrough are in, but all other custom characters need to be reviewed. Are there any specific items/item combos we should be on the look out for? Particulalry, whatā€™s the opinion on allowing Mecha Cooler and Mech Frieza?

  2. Omega Shenron, should he be allowed? We already decided to allow fusion characters, and theyā€™re just as bad as OS, in my opinion. However, OS does start with a full ki gauge, among other things, but I donā€™t think heā€™s too broken (not after seeing SSJ4 characters, anywayā€¦).

Goryus, IMO, Uub does not in any way belong in the top tier. He cannot escape being juggled, nor can he escape being teleport rushed.
That alone stops him from being in the top tier. Iā€™d put him below the middle tier.

Thorne, these are custom capsules that you should ban:

Any items
Freezerā€™s/Coolerā€™s Spaceship
Viral Heart Disease
Vaccine

As for Omega Shenron, Iā€™ll get back to that later.
Also, fusion characters is actually a waste in higher level gameplay. All you have to simply do is run away, wait for the hyper moded person to run out of ki, then pummel the tired person with attacks. A fusion is a rare occurance once you start playing with some skilled players.

A tier list will come up soon. Nnamz and Kujila (Budokai veterans on GFAQs) are looking at all characters in depth to create a tier list.

Right now, the following are guarenteed on the top tier:

Piccolo
Gokou
Omega Shenron
Gohan
Kid Buu

that vid was pretty goodā€¦but with so many full life combos it makes the game look way too broken, i like the graphics of the game, the wide variety of characters and the whole transformation thing, but it looks so brokenā€¦reminds me of xmen vs sf @@ 1 hit with any character and youā€™re dead --

Iā€™ve been looking forward to a tier list for a long time with this game. And I just knew Kid Buu was top tier material, no matter what some of those idiots at the GameFaqs boards say. BTW is Teen Gohan like mid tier?

I donā€™t remember any full life combos. They did one full barā€¦or sometimes around 2; but you have 3 bars in that game.
