i think we should have a combo thread now before this current thread gets too cluttered. imo
Am I going crazy here, or am I the only one having a hard time switching weapons. I press down down :atk:, but nothing happens. I even turn on the input display to make sure I’m doing it right.
Any ideas?
^ try doing it faster
And you can’t switch to a weapon you’re already in.
I’ve been doing it really fast. And what do you mean by switching to a different weapon. I thought the attack button determined the weapon switch.:wonder:
It does, like if you’re in reflector, you can’t do dd A, you have to use B or C.
Out of curiosity, what does the guide say the exact effects from her X-Factor are?
Not sure if this has already been mentioned but any Cold Star can be comboed from any forward throw (f+H), the Cold Star M can be linked into Okami Shuffle. Back throws (b+H) can combo into Cold Star L.
Of course this applies to anywhere on screen since there’s obviously way better combo shenanigans to pull off after throwing them into a corner :nunchuck:
I’ve been doing that…
Doesn’t look like much but a damage increase…
Amaterasu
lvl1 XF 120%dmg, 100%speed
lvl2 XF 140%dmg, 100%speed
lvl3 XF 150%dmg, 100%speed
depending on character xfactor has these traits…
lvl1 10sec 120-160%dmg 100-125%speed
lvl2 15sec 135-180%dmg 100-150%speed
lvl3 20sec 150-230%dmg 100-175%speed
You can’t combo cold star into okami shuffle from full screen, because the opponent has to be inside the initial fire’s hitbox. You can also link okami shuffle directly after forward and back throws.
Haha, I figured it out. When you want to switch her weapons you have to hold down the second down input while you press the attack button. You gotta be quick though like everybody else said. Somebody should put that in the FAQ.
It sounds like she benefits more from the increase in minimum damage (60% of base damage, instead of 10%, if I’m reading the guide right) than from the damage increase, then.
Anyone find out what you can follow up with the air qcf overhead?
It always worked for me using Cold Star M after forward throw from anywhere. I never meant to imply that OS comboed from any cold star, just that one. Useful for me because it builds up meter, just thought I’d share.
for that last combo been doing M, 214L, M, 214L, M, H, 6HHHHHH, S, 9MM, HHH, S, land 22M, 93H (tigerknee dive), 236S 236AA
there might be a way to relaunch after, but not sure…
I’ve also been somehow able to get this midscreen too, but it’s much harder since you have to delay the brushstroke so she can dash a little more
another great thing of note, for comboing weapon switches, if you’re comboing from a crouch attack you can use that down as the first input
in otherwords (shield) M, H, 2H, 2M, M, S would be your basic shield combo into sword switch into launch, just have to make you you’re not holding that first down (don’t think it works at least, didn’t really check it extensively)
It can combo from any cold star, you can cancel straight into it. Just not at full screen, if you’re closer than full screen you can combo off of it.
After the over head, do a standing M, into the Fierce combo. i love her jumping Fierce! Its amazing! I really need to find a character other than Hsien-ko to help with offensive pressure.
As for the combo, it would be: Cross-up Jumping Hard, Standing Medium, Forward Hard combo, Launch, Medium, Fierce, Fierce, Fierce, Okami-Shuffle.
Its my BnB.
I have not had too much time in the lab, but incorporating an easy stance change shown in missions, 500kdmg and excellent DHC positioning.(you can actually DHC alot of hypers from Shuffle…)
Disc Stance: Any setup(A B, crossup C into B C) into Forward+C x5, cancel last hit into Sword stance, A B S jump B B DownForward+C, when you hit the ground QCF+S cancel into Okami Shuffle. pretty looking and not really hard to perform once you understand how to change stances…
Also Working on more setups using the Sword Stance Hold C… but I’m quite tired… lol
Also, if in a setup into Forward+C, if you xfactor cancel the final hit, repeat the Loop of Forward+C and cancel into Instruments(LVL3), it does QUITE abit of damage, and allows you time for ambiguous chaindash crossups/fakes.
glaive stance:
i was wondering guys, how effective do yoiu think the following mixup game would be with ammy if only done… er sparsely.
glaive d/f+ H, qcf+L (now on other side of opponent) d/f +H (repeat)
thats not that great in and of itself but instead of repeating the “trap” ammy has alot of options after the first qcf+L instead of just repeating:
glaive H is in perfect position to hit after air qcf+L or she could just okami shuffle if she expects the opponent to mash that helper, or she could call her own helper while doing the second D/f +h, or she could call helper and then do air qcf+L which will make the helper crossup. she can also charge glaive for mind games. if she ever wants to go back to regular fighting all she has to do is a normal after air qcf+L… basically this crosses up and overheads the shit out of the opponent, and with a low hitting helper it gets worse. so the opponent will either mash helper or mash reversal or try to jump out… she has options to beat all of those options and since she recovers so fast most of her options are pretty safe.
another awesome use of glaive d/f+H is to super jump and do it and then cancel it into air qcf+L or M… makes for a MUCH quicker way in and ammy recovers nicely in the air ready to come down with a regular jumping attack or another d/f +H.
her air movement is tricky when using d/f+h in glaive stance.

I’m pretty sure that diving glaive is not overhead, but I have done that mix-up pretty frequently. Its pretty good with the right assist. I personally can pretty much get a cross-over for each pendulum swing with df’d hsien-ko assist.
I honestly don’t find much reason to switch out of Glaive. It gives Ammy great mobility, specially for handling tough keep-away. Charged j.heavy also does great with low assists.
