Brushstr0kes 101: The Amaterasu Thread Mach II

I’m really thinking about M.O.D.O.K., Ammy, and Chris for a team that focuses on a lot of lockdown pressure. What do you guys think? I’m just thinking about blockstrings and assists like a grenade or jamming bomb to deter them from counter attacking when the blockstring finishes.

good shit louie

Anyone thinks that Elements, X force, Elements could kill a unsafe Phoenix assist?

Probably just one Super. lol.

How will you Element twice?

Syke1… The X force will allow Ammy to combo two elements together in the same way Zero can combo his special together with X Force. Wait is it X force or X Factor?

Look at 1:50

SMH You mean KFC?

When you said X-Force I thought you meant Elements>DHC to Wolverine>Elements again.

Can’t be confusing with this terminology

Ski actually asked that question for me on the stream this week, They never tested how the cancel on Elements works.

Too bad IRC shits on my ISP

yeah that’s crap :frowning:

Opps yea sorry.

oh yeah, if I were to guess, the current wave of elements w9ould finish when you cancel, but not the one after it. Not sure you can KFC it at all tho’, I still am not sure about air cancels outside of Max. Wesker.

If you can elements (wait till lightning starts)>kfc>elements would totally work.

I think you’re correct about the current wave finishing, but not the one after it - it seems to be a three part hyper. You can see her swipe her tail and see the ink appear, followed by the element, each time it happens. This would make sense; each elemental attack is a separate brushstroke in the game.

Really? I thought it seemed like a pretty good move for DHCing out; the lightning seems to do a good job of slamming the opponent into the ground and setting them up for another hyper, like in this earlier video:

But I’m fairly casual, so I might be missing something obvious.

Positioning isn’t the problem, damage scaling is. I see so many moderate level MvC2 players blow supers trying to DHC for more damage when often times just finishing the current one will do only slightly less damage. Meter management is super important in the VS series and spending another super on just a LITTLE more damage usually isn’t worth it, unless it will kill the opponent.

Also, it looks like Element leaves Ammy in a good position to rush down some more if so desired. Why take this away from her when you DHC into a beam super (or others) that might push them across the screen?

Is the Mist Hyper as effective as V.Joe’s slow? Is it more potent when X-Factored?

I’d say overall it is about as useful. Maybe slightly less so because you can’t build meter during it.

PROS

  • It effects the field, so even if they switch, they have to deal with it.
  • Because it effects the field, you don’t have to worry about it hitting or missing.

CONS

  • It doesn’t seem to last nearly as long as V. Joe’s slow.
  • You cannot build meter while it is active.

V. Joe’s slow

PROS

  • It does damage
  • It lasts a long time
  • If they switch, it will stay on the character that got hit and effects their assists

CONS

  • You have to combo in to it
  • A player may switch to not have to immediately deal with the effects of it

I hadn’t thought of that; thanks for explaining~

I don’t see this as a con. If Joe KNOWS the player wants to switch, its an easy punish on the character they switch in. If you can punish their switch, they’re in an even worse position than before, particularly since the super continues when the affected character comes back in. Wont be not hard, since id wager most players end up just mashing tag as soon as they see they’re slowed.

But hey, thats Joe. This is the amaterasu thread, so i dont know why im derailing it.

In a sense I agree. Tagging out will almost always end in punishment in this, but if they do it to save a character that would otherwise die it may be beneficial. A bit of a double-edged sword, but you’re probably right.

@Mumei

No problem. I think it’s a slight oversight by a lot of players. Not one that’ll complete ruin your match, but meter conservation should always be on your mind when playing a VS game.

I thought just your opponent couldn’t build meter.
