When using Liberation, how do you normally get the charges?  Build 2 bars, wait till it’s safe (or until you get a punishment opportunity), Mighty Punish, DHC Stalking Flare, charges, hard tag back to Thor?  <br>

yeah, thats when thor gets hit and is about to die. if thor get a hit you can DHC to stalking flare, kill a character, charge 1D2C, wait until the second character get in, throw 1D2C and missiles at the same time, dark matter + charge, etc etc flowchart stuff

Thor/Dorm/Doom has been my main team since early on vanilla. That team’s best assist composition depends more on the match up than anything else. Missiles in general will give you the coverage to fight against a lot of stuff, but as you discovered, it’s rendered practically useless against any team that has options to shut down assist calls. Thor’s mediocre at best when defending against it anyway, and when those certain teams come up and blow Doom up, it’s a lot harder to get anything started.<div><br></div><div>So against those teams, it’s best to run with Plasma Beam behind. It allows you to move in and approach safely when you need to from full screen and relatively up close since Doom shows up behind Thor. The downside to using it is you lose any assist extensions for damage, so you have to rely more on resets against the higher health characters.</div>

Hmm…I guess I’ll play around with Plasma Beam then. Maybe even replace Doom with Strange. Do you have any matchup videos, DJ?

There was some videos of me on twitch.tv/sixfortyfive a few weeks back, but it looks like he took down the whole event for whatever reason. Probably editing them so he can up them on his youtube. I’ll keep you in the know for when I get on stream.

What about viability in terms of shopping cart assist for Thor? And is mighty spark decent for Frank? How were the set ups for FFC? And what are the Dhc options like after mighty punish actually connects?

Any thoughts on Thor(invuln CC)/Strange(Bolts)/Dante(Jam session)? Particularly what options does Thor have with jam sesh?

A quick acting lock down assist that covers the whole vertical axis. That automatically makes it good for incoming mix ups. Also, since it’s a lock down, it’ll keep his block strings safe. And off any normal ground throw, you can hard tag into Dante for a free unscaled combo. Bolts works for your long range wars, so all and all, the team should work out quite well.

Shopping Cart is good, but I think you may be better off with Mighty Smash since you already have drones. And after Thor throws them in the air with Mighty Punish, you may be able to DHC into Survival Techniques and either level up/continue the combo.

Shopping cart isn’t that great honestly… unless you already have them in the corner. Then its fine. Midscreen is drones, corner is cart.

Also you can dhc to survival techniques after mp and get a full combo but the timing is super tight. Smash is better than Spark just cause you can tac to frank and then invincible ac thor back in if things get dicey.

I’m not a regular on this forum but I was thinking Thor with Dante (Weasel Shot) and Doom (Missles/Beam depending on matchup) could be really godlike. I already suggested Thor Dorm Doom a while ago and it seems like people like that. But yeah. Combos may be a little lacking but Weasel Shot is a decent Cold Star substitute for those that don’t want to learn Ammy like me. I was thinking maybe there could be some combo shenanigans with Tornado dhc to Devil Trigger. Or maybe Lightning XX Devil Trigger midscreen could do something cool since i think lightning stays on screen even if Thor gets hit…maybe can allow Dante to teleport into something? Idk…just putting ideas out there.

That sounds like it could have some potential. I know right off, there’s versatility in assists. Thor should be able to make good use out of Jam Session, Missiles, Beam or Weasel Shot. Dante probably has some decent setups with Smash and Spark. Off of Mighty Punish, Dante can Devil Trigger and almost certainly get a TOD combo. And I forget if it’s Dante or Vergil that has the DT with no recovery, but if it’s Dante, then that means you get safe command grab attempts on the ground. With X Factor, you get a mixup out of team hyper, and if Thor has Spark assist, you may get it even without X factor.

But honestly, it’d probably be better to play Vergil. His assists aren’t as awesome as Jam Session and Weasel shot, but Rapid Slash is pretty nice too and Vergil should be able to take much better advantage of Spark and Smash because of his horizontal teleport and Rapid Slash. Also, he gets the same Mighty Punish into DT option Dante has; but with Swords, he’s able to make Thor’s command grabs safe and instantly put the opponent in blockstun and we all know where it goes from there…

Can Trish do anything for Thor or vice versa?

I haven’t looked too much into the pairing. Low Voltage gives him a horizontal assist, and I can imagine Peekaboo giving him some more options for resets. Mighty Tornado into Round Harvest, and tag in a third character who can do something more to extend the combo like Dormammu or Dante.

All I can say is try it out and come back with your findings. There may be some synergy between them. There may be nothing worth investing in. Results come from experimenting.

I think it’s obvious they both want doom. So i’ll try that.

Serp your combo videos are amazing as usual. I am getting back to UMvC3 and was wondering if much had changed since September in regards to Thor’s best teams.

are the Dorm/Doom and Strange/Ammy shells still the best for Thor?

Let look as Thor as the team player here, and considering he has infinites/high powered tac’s who does he play best behind? I have found a number of great set-ups with Firebrand, and I feel he does fine behind Capt. America. It’s true… Thor is probably a point character but his spark and smash assists aren’t bad at all either. Thoughts?
