Im thinking I might just do Thor(spark)/Strange(bolts)/ Dormammu (Hole)…Thor at battery, Strange as good second and also decent anchor, Dorm at GDLK anchor.
That’ll do. The team should take you far if you work with it.
Thanks for the Thor love and all the awesome threads Legendary. Made learning this game and Thor much much easier.
Thor uses skrulls a assist so well. I love how it can be used as a org and also a wallbounce. I too agree that Thors best slot is on second, but I like using him on point. My two Thor teams are firebrand (otg fire spit), Thor (spark), sentinel (drones). My main strategy is to use firebrands speed and mixups to get in, then tac into thor otg into SSS, tornado x luminous body, call drones for lockdown while I charge the unblockable. Second team is thor, Chris, superskrull). Just a fun team and u can SSS after thc!
Thor anchor? Goodluck!

I don’t know what I’m doing wrong but even with all three hits of the charged mighty strike :h:, I can’t seem to consistently link the charged mighty strike :l: into the mighty spark

The opponent has to be a bit above your level in order to get the L Strike Link into M Spark. If they’re too low, either the L Strike won’t hit fully, or the M Spark will just straight whiff.
Dark Thor in 3 steps
- Block, XFC, Mighy hurricane H, 1 kill
- Random mighty strike hit, 2 kills
- guard break on incoming character, 3 kills. K.O.
If only it worked out that way, IMO Dark Thor means 1 dead character and a lot of prayers after that.
Removing his tiny speed boost didn’t help either… Does Thor REALLY need to do 200% damage in XF3?

Which is great for players who don’t know to zone Thor out if he’s the last character on a team.
Thor and Nova do both have the capability to level up Frank. I understand Frank being second for the DHC level up, but that’s a lot running on Nova, and if he dies before you get what you need, then your team will probably fall apart. Frank at level 1 isn’t the best at holding a team together, and Thor on anchor can’t really get much going on his own. I personally think you’d get more out of the team if Thor’s on second and Frank is anchor. Granted, Frank isn’t a much better anchor than Thor is, but at least he has a great assist that both Thor and Nova can get some mileage out of. That said, you’d probably be better off running Akuma then since his Tatsu assist would serve the same purpose, and he’s a better anchor overall.
In any case, I think something’s gotta give in order for the team to be as good as it can be. Nova/Thor can be good, Thor/Frank can be good, and Nova/Frank can be good, but not all three of them together.
Thanks I appreciate it, I’ll have to use either a different OTG or just settle for Mighty Strike :h: with Dark Hole to set up my SSS (I play Thor/Dorm/Deadpool)
Well, just check your timing first.
So back to the start of the round situation… Thor is so bad fighting against Mags at the beginning that I put Dorm up first… at least his H is actually decent to try and stop rushdown/grabs. Mags doesn’t have to respect Thor at all…
True, Magneto is pretty much the god of starting matches, I swear OS throws are the lamest. Would’ve been better SF(3/4) style IMO.

Ok Thor (spark) / Dorm (Purification) / Doom (Plasma beam) might be the ultimate anti-hawkeye Thor team as i mentioned earlier. I recently picked up that team and its giving several trouble to my friend Pat at xbox live, his team is Hawkeye/Nova/Frank. Plasma beam is just too good against Hawk, the battle plan is to chip him and poke him with strikes until he lose the nerve and do something unsafe. The chip of beams + sparks L is the key.
Thor (spark) / Dorm (Purification) / Doom (missiles) is very good against people picking Vajra and works good against Zero and rushdown teams (wolvie, haggar, etc). Thor (spark) / Strange (Bolts) / Amaterasu (Cold star) is more like an anti-zoning team and can counter both of those lol. The downside is Dr Strange requires high execution to be really effective unlike Dorm and Doom. I have been playing those teams recently
Thor/Dorm/Doom is my main team and I can say it is pretty baller. I wouldn’t go as far to say it’s the ultimate anti-Hawkeye team, though, but if Hawkeye is up and your team is still alive, then you’re good. In my experience, most Hawkeye players run him as their assist character, because Triple Arrow is an amazing assist, and if they got a good character in front, then it may be problematic. The good thing though, is that Dormammu has a teleport, so save for Gimlets on reaction, Hawkeye has two chances to go down. Just make sure you never get in a situation when Doom has to fight Hawkeye.
I’ve found that Thor with Missiles is the best way to fight against Zero. Covering that air space forces him to stay where you want him.
Dorm/Doom, Strange/Ammy, and to a slightly lesser extent Doom/Ammy work great against a lot of teams with its versatility. Doom/Ammy struggles more so against zoning, but it still has most of the things Thor needs.
Just as an aside point, the THC they have is disgusting and pretty much negates zoning. You can be practically anywhere on the screen and all they have to do is THC to lock you down and mix you up to hell… Decent follow up combos mean they build a lot of the bar back
While true, the cost of two meters to have before hand is pretty steep if the point dies real quick. Of course, that one set back isn’t all that big a deal for the shell, just something to watch out for.
