Brother, You're Needed - Ultimate Thor Team Building Thread

Your right Thor with missiles is great to baet down Zero with since it cuts down that mobility, the only thing to watch out for is when he get a lvl 3 hyper.

I used to play Thor in vanilla with an X-23, Thor, Taskmaster team basically abusing the DHC glitch lol but when Ultimate came out, I dropped him for my Nova/Spencer/Taskmaster team…blah blah long story short, I was thinking about making a secondary team just for the hell of it…Thor w/ Super Skrull & Doom. I’m not sure what order I should put them in so here’s my thinking:

Thor (Mighty Smash), Skrull (Tenderizer), Doom (Plasma Beam): Thor with a beam assist to help him get in and Skrull’s assist is great for lock down in the corner/decent combo extensions. If/when Thor dies, Skrull with beam assist can help with mixups? idk lol. And Doom on anchor, xfactor, footdive, death

Thor (Smash), Doom (Beam), Skrull (Tenderizer): Similar to above but to have Doom with Tenderizer for the lock down and maybe a small combo extension? Skrull in the back is a gamble because yeah he’s stupid as HELLLL but if someone can read you may be assed out

I have yet to play Skrull or Doom in matches but literally upon picking up Doom in the lab I was able do his combos just from knowing that they look like and what his buttons are (that’s a damn shame lmfao)

Both great teams to max out Thor’s potential. Only problem is Kl’rt can’t really get much of anything out of Doom’s Beam. He needs lock down assists more for mix ups and pressure more than anything else. Missiles might be the better assist to use in that case, but yeah Thor / Kl’rt (Tenderizer) / Doom (Missiles) should work great.

As for runnin’ Kl’rt on anchor, I understand a lot of people really like it because of the randomness of it, but I personally think don’t like it that much. You’ll be relying on reads to get stuff going, which is entirely possible, but I prefer Kl’rt with some help in the back, but if you do decide on it, it’s perfectly viable.

Thor gets much more out stone smite than tenderizer in my opinion, I’ve only been running them together since like week 2 vanilla so yeah…

Well I wouldnt know so I shall take other people’s word for it

Hey, i’ve been experimenting with Haggar/Thor/Phoenix, and I like Haggar/Thor, but I cant really use assists with Phoenix, (for obvious reasons) so ive bern wondering who helps Thor and, this would just be a bonus, helps extend Haggars combos and helps with a good THC.

Ammy, Sentinel, Iron Man, and Arthur sound like they’d fit that role.

Ok, so I’ve been looking through different characters to sub for any Thor teams. I’m trying use anyone with a double purpose assist (kinda like how Hidden Missles locks down & otg’s). I just found that IronMan’s repulsor blast lets me combo 2 Tornados. As is, it feels like Sent/Doom will always be on my teams. How’s Thor/IronMan/(Doom/Sent)sound?

Sounds like nightmare of the low tiers lmaoo…na im just talking crap but in all seriousness, Idk if that’s a good idea personally. You gunna have to be REEEAALLLY ON POINT with Thor and Iron Man because if not you gunna be left with Doom on anchor which can definitely pull it off but idk if you want to risk being put in that position…EVERY GAME…and Sentinel on anchor…we already know.

Just experimenting because I’ve been too busy to make it to any events. When I’m finally able to show up, I want some different looks. I’m lookin to have like 5 teams with Thor. If I stick with it, then I just gotta watch matches with good IronMan players and go from there. 1st one that comes to mind is Joker.

Don’t forget to MH | AlukhardNY, his IM is sick

I think IM is kinda lacking when it comes to supporting thor, all he really offers is a good assist (which is unibeam btw). Other than that he doesnt have much going for him, cant follow up mighty punish, DHC synergy is average at best, no safe way to DHC thor out etc.

There are a lot of other characters that i would much rather have in the 2nd spot to support thor, and thats without even considering how much of a nightmare it is to learn how to properly use IM.

I have been using Thor and iron mans repulser cuz it helps Thor a lot. its great to use after a hard knockdown in the corner u just have to space it right to get the bottom tip of the repulser in the corner and it locks them down if the roll forward too, it give thor a 50/50 on wake up and since the repulser has anti push block properties they are force to deal with it unless they do a cross over counter. Sentinel is great for that team cuz of the drones but a rush down team gives them a few problems because of the slow normals they have. For good idea of Iron Mans neutral game and Sent play check out condor missiles matches and joker is good too

IM scales too much on unibeam, Thor is better off with repulsor blast. The 50/50 on wakeup that you get is perfect for mighty hurricane setups if they block correctly. As far as DHC goes, I have no issue ever DHC-ing out of Mighty Punish (if it connects, then use angled shot and use straight on whiff, the proton cannon itself actually still hits).

If I were to pick up Tony, I’d run Thor/Unibeam/Missiles. Unibeam scaling shouldn’t be too big of an issue if you’re going for resets, and with Missiles, you’ll always get the SSS ender, which allows for an easy DHC to the Proton Cannon. Or, if missiles is out of the equation, but I still need the DHC, just ending an air combo with S, charged H Smash, Tornado, and Proton Cannon’ll hit, too.

Honestly i havent used thor/IM enough to know which assist benefits thor more but thats not the point, the point is either way a good assist is all IM has to offer for thor.

Also i think it goes without saying that i meant IM cant DHC into a full combo after MP since there isnt a single character in the game that cant just DHC into a hyper after MP, but not all characters can get a combo. Its a pretty big deal imo, MP is a great move but you’re not really capitalizing on it if you dont have the proper follow ups, and if you just go for a normal DHC then you’re burning 2 meters while building 0 just to get 500-600K damage.

Then there’s the DHC synergy, IM doesnt have any particularly powerful DHCs and no safe ones, DHCing from thor to IM is average at best, as in it works but offers nothing special. DHCing from IM to thor (or doom) doesnt work outside the corner.

I hear that, thats one of the main reasons I put Vergil in 2nd place on the team cuz swords gives you a full combo after MP and I.Man anchor and contrary to belief Uni Bean doesn’t drastically increase hit stun scaling combos. When I put iron man in second to Thor I usually TAC in I. Man for that extra dmg and meter build also his DHC in to MT is great depending on high up they are after the DHC into MT you get the float state for additional dmg from Thor and the TAC combo from I.Man should have build up enough meter to get a 3rd hyper if need be but i do lose lose my Dmg potential with MP like you said but I feel its a fair trade depending on the type of team im fighting.

Dont forget about I.Man TAC combo, it does nice dmg and good meter build.

mm, personally i dont like IM, he doesnt offer too much for Thor battle plan (meter charge for meter users fight control); stick to Dorm, Dr Strange or Morrigan to Thor 2nd position if you want to win.

Running Thor(Mighty Smash), Dante (Crystal), Dr. Strange (Bolts of Balthaak) as a tertiary team.

Love the DHC from Mighty Tornado into Devil Trigger for some nice follow up because of the slow fall after the tornado, and Docs bolts can help thor to get in and gives him some Mighty Hurricane setups. Just gotta work on my Thor a bit more as Im still new to the character
