Hi Zippy
Zippy, I don’t like “Start + dpad” combo key for LS/DP/RS
Because some arcade game requires holding start +joystick for hidden characters.
Then it will change to DP/RS while trying to do secret combo
I think Street Fighter Alpha 3 is one of them. Not sure about Mortal Kombat.
I’m pretty sure Street Fighter Alpha 3 requires you to hold start button while moving the joystick from a character to another character or “random select” box, to unlock hidden characters (Balrog, Juni, etc).
Maybe three keys is better? Start+Select+Dpad instead? I think a different combo key will be better for this.
For now, I can just bind “start” to a different key in game to avoid this problem.
If anyone knows any other games where “Joystick/Dpad direction+Start button” is used, please post it.
Also people who like to mash start / options and wiggle the stick at the same time in between rounds (to advance faster) will find this to be a an issue. I suggested to @“GOGO.Zippy” add a two second hold for the command to activate.
I agree. A different way should be used for these combokeys. Joystick/Dpad +Start are too commonly used by people to have the combo key on dpad+start. Even some old games use the start button during gameplay as an option button. Even 3 buttons together (instead of just start) would be better.
Pretty sure I did the same thing as well now that I think about it. I thought it was just my joystick for a moment actually. xD
But seriously can we change the macro to Start+Select+[Directional Input]
So after updating to 1.5 fw i am getting a lot of input delay on Windows 10. It auto detects as an xbox one controller. In 1.4 there was a lot less lag. The only way i got it to work again like normal was to force xbox 360 mode instead. Ill test it more tomorrow when im not tired.
Glad to see that Brook is continuing to release firmware in support of their boards. The Wii U support and input delay improvement are welcome additions. I feel that the DL/LS/RS selector will only be useful in a few situations, but that it’d be too easy to activate it by accident, maybe without even knowing it. This could be fixed by making the input for selection more difficult, or by maybe making alternate firmware that doesn’t include this feature (as with the “Tournament” firmware for the converters). Thanks for your time and consideration, Brook folks.
